I went to St. Lucia with dreams of sitting in the sun and having fun. When I arrived I found that I had picked the right hotel to make my dreams and beyond come true. I quickly realized my dreams were well short of all the possibilities that were out there. I went with an amazing women who makes me happy. We exceeded what I dreamt about in all the activities we did. Everything I could imagine Chateau Mygo made happen. We went on a Chateau Mygo boat and snorkeled in some of the most beautiful water I have seen. We found a deserted beach with a Chateau Mygo paddle boat and spent some quality time enjoying the sun. St. Lucia has some fun things to offer inland also. We made our way to the Pitons and saw the volcano. We took a mud bath and showered off with warm spring water. We found out while we were there that our adventure to volcano and hot springs had been recently featured in an episode of the BachelorTV program. The day was completed with the most spectacular view of the pitons while eating dinner. It was romantic, fun and exciting and I was glad to not have to drive as we were shuttled by a taxi who worked for Chateau Mygo. Those adventures were great and fun, but I was equally as happy sitting at the restaurant and eating pizza while my darling girlfriend ate a variety of vegitarian dishes. She loved the grilled cheese sandwiches the best. I found all the people working there to be nice and when I needed something they were able to get it or point me in the right direction. The bay is gorgeous and not only do I plan on going back again, but the good times live in my dreams until the next vacation comes around. We were there for ten days and if I had the money and time to stay I would have made it months instead of days. I would never stay anywhere but Chateau Mygo Villas.
We (two couples) spent 11 nights here in November, 2016, and enjoyed the best of Marigot Bay. The apartment is clean and spacious and in the best location just a short walk to the small town center and the ferries that whisk you across to three different restaurants and the small beach. Doreen the owner lives upstairs and and is extremely friendly and helpful, and her adopted son Kevin lives downstairs and is equally helpful and well informed about everything you want to know and can drive you anywhere you want to go for a reasonable price. The owner's waterfront restaurant and bar were our favorite hangout, but there are at least five choices within the small area.
We couldn't have been happier with our 2 week stay at the Chateau Mygo. The house is located a stones throw from the Marigot Bay, the taxi dock, restaurant, docks, bank, and more. Although it is so close to everything, it is a rather quiet and peaceful location. We didn't see much of Frank, but were pampered by his mother Doreen. We stayed for Christmas, and Doreen did everything possible to make it a special experience for us and our 8 year old son. Doreen even took my mother to the Castries market one morning for Christmas fish and meat. We walked to the restaurant many nights to enjoy the food and great live music, and the staff are super friendly and fun. We enjoyed walking or running up the street behind the house each day and night, as it is a very safe and friendly neighborhood. We also fished off of the marina docks at night and caught snapper and snook, YUM! The sailing charter run by Chateau Mygo was very professional and a great experience for all ages (8 year old and 65 year old). I would recommend renting a car to see the rest of the island, as the roads are very nice and there is a lot to see. Treetop Adventure Ziplining is incredible and worth every penny, and the Dennery Waterfall up the road from there is stunning and usually vacant. Having a 4 x 4 made it possible to go to Pigeon Island, Reduit Beach, the volcano, mud baths, Toraille Falls, botanical gardens, Soufriere, Dennery, Chastnet beach, and so much more at our pace. There is a great supermarket just minutes away, so we saved a lot of money buying our food there and cooking at the house. Marigot Bay is located centrally on the island, so it makes it convenient to go north or south without too much of drive taking time out of your day. The community of Marigot Bay is very safe, friendly, and helpful. The beach by Doolittle's can be a bit intimidating, because the locals can get pushy. Just tell them you are staying at Doreen's, and no one will bother you. Get a drink from Sue & Peter at Roots Bar or go next door to Anthony & Eugene's for an icy beer. Also try Plante Restaurant in Dennery. The food was $12EC for a huge heaping plate of goodness, and it tasted great. St. Lucia is one of the friendliest and safest islands that we have visited, and a stay at the Chateau Mygo house makes the trip just perfect! Don't even think about it, just book your trip and sail with these guys. You can't go wrong!
We couldnt have asked for a better 2-week vacation! Frank, his mom Doreen and their staff at the Marina/Restaurant/Maid were like our family by the time we left. Very clean, beautiful view, local cell phone provided, wi-fi, all amenities we could need. Gideon was our taxi driver, he is very quiet but very dependable! Everything we needed was right there in Marigot Bay! Took a taxi for day trips (Market in Castries, Botanical Gardens, Volcano, lunch at LAderA) but our time was best spent just lounging on the water front and talking to the locals. Be sure to book your sailing charter as soon as you get there to ensure availability - they are very busy! The charter (Bateau Mygo) was great! The food at Chateau Mygo was great! Absolutely no complaints. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet get-away in a very safe and loving community.
This is a very nice apartment which worked out perfectly for our family. We also spent a night in the Chateau Mygo villas that are high up on the hill (prop 250200), so we can do a little pro/con of each. Compared to the other property, this one is more what you might think of as a beach condo, but with extra amenities like a really nice kitchen, nicer fixtures than typical and the plunge pool which was great for cooling off at the end of the day and provided lots of entertainment for our daughter. The main advantage here (vs. up on the hill) is no need for a car; you can stumble out in the morning and pick up some fabulous chocolate croissants right around the corner. Other pros here are wi-fi and a/c (which wasn't important to us, really). Up on the hill, the villa is still more spacious and stylish, with a gorgeous pool and beautiful views. This apartment in town has probably seen more use than the one on the hill, which seems very polished and new. This one has a nicer dining area inside; the one on the hill has a nicer dining area outside (but either way is possible in both).
Basically, both properties are very nice. If you want to be seconds walk from restaurants and not need a car, stay here; if you're going to have a rental car to explore and want a quieter, more private place, stay on the hill. We really enjoyed both. We had had a rental car for our first week on the island and were ready to just relax, so we chose this property.
Either way, Frank is a pleasure to deal with and an interesting guy to talk with as well. Despite being obviously super busy, he was very hospitable and personally helpful. We also enjoyed a very pleasant day charter with his sailing company (which also conveniently served as transport from another part of the island) as well as several good meals at their restaurant.
I hope we can come back someday.
