About Michelle Mancuso

My home is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but quickly fell in love with the Mentone/Lookout Mountain region. I never tire of the beauty or the people and I hope you fall in love too and want to return again and again as I do.

Michelle Mancuso purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Michelle Mancuso chose Alabama Mountains

We have traveled to Lookout Mountain for many years and decided we wanted a vacation home in this unspoiled area. It is so convenient to many other destinations and we often have intentions of using Hawk's Nest Hideaway as the headquarter for further adventures, but we end up falling in love with what the area has to offer in views and outings so we stay and never venture any further than a days drive away. Any time of year, any season we have never been disappointed.

What makes this cabin unique

This area is unique in that there is a little known fact that Little River Canyon is the deepest river canyon besides the Grand Canyon the USA and the river flows entirely on the top of the mountain. This area is so pristine, clean, uncluttered and unique. You will truly fall in love and want to return many many times. I welcome you and your family to my home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful home. We married in Mentone and we come back every year for our anniversary. 6th year now. We have stayed in several different places but think we have found the "ONE" from now on. Great place to reconnect and leave behind all the worries of everyday life. We hate to leave.

Home away from Home

We stayed for our 16 year anniversary getaway, this place is beautiful and quiet, with no cell coverage(loved being off the grid). It was just as everyone described as being clean and having every amenity you may need while staying. We will definitely visit again.

Great Location.

  • 5 of 5

The House was very well maintained and we really enjoyed our stay. The House was spotless and everything was either as advertised or better. I use VRBO slot and although I've never been disappointed, The Hawk's Nest Hideaway is the best place we have stayed so far.

Clean and comfortable but didn't like bed.

  • 4 of 5

The property was clean, well maintained and easier to get to than other cabins I've been to. We enjoyed the swing by the creek and hot tub. The Netflix kept everyone entertained. My only dislike was the bed. It sunk in the middle. We also never saw the fishing pond.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed the property and your trip. I am so sorry that the bed did not meet your comfort standards. I have not had any other mention of the mattress sagging. I was there in July and did not notice any break down of the mattress, but I'm a very small person and so is my husband, 5'2" both. I will surely replace the mattress if needed. Also, the pond is located at the head of the driveway over the berm. Sorry you missed it. I wish you would have sent message and I could have let you know. I hope you return again on your next visit to Mentone.

Just what we hoped it would be

Beautiful home and property. Location was perfect for traveling to the areas attractions. I wish we were more prepared for not having cell phone service but the Wi-Fi came in handy.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Cell phone service in the mountains is always a challenge. I do have on my information there is spotty cell service at the house but if you need it, you can walk to the pond area and get service. Most guest welcome the break from service.

This was cleanest, best stocked home we have ever stayed in!!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this home for a birthday weekend getaway for two lifelong friends. The home quiet and secluded, was extremely clean and nice. We felt like we were walking into our homes. Everything we needed was supplied. We wanted a place to de-stress, laugh, and just 'get away from it all'. There was no phone reception (only wifi) but this was OUR FAVORITE PART - since lots of the stress comes from always being available by phone. There was a home phone in case of emergencies. We did some exploring around Mentone and the mountains and waterfalls, but mostly we stayed in our little 'hideaway' and relaxed. We especially enjoyed the hot tub on the screened In porch that was on level with tree tops and overlooked the sloping hill to the creek. From coffee in the morning, to mimosas mid-morning, to evening wine we enjoyed everything about this vacation. We only ventured out once each day because we loved the home so much we didn't want to waste time away from it. We did eat at three restaurants in town and all were delicious!! We have already decided this will be a yearly trip for us!! You cannot go wrong with hawks Nest if you are looking for a relaxing, restful weekend. Michelle was great to work with and was available by email or text every time we had a question. Oh -- and home has a smart tv, which we were able to enjoy.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I know what you mean about leaving the house. We love to just stay and enjoy the yard and house when we get to visit. I would love to have you annually. It just gets better each time you visit for some reason.

Cleanest and most comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

Out of all the places we have rented and stayed overnight this home was by far the most comfortable and clean.

We never once ran out of things to do during the day. We explored all of Mentone, some of fort payne and even venutured to Chattanooga. Even if we had stayed only at the houuse we still would have plenty to do. We fished at the pond almost every evening with great success, we played down by the creek where our 2 boys enjoyed catching minnows and crawfish. The beds were very comfortable. We all slept like babies. I honestly can not say that I have ever stayed somewhere and knew that i was going to return but I know for a fact that we will rent this home again in the future. I have nothing negative to say. The pricing is right as long as it stayes what it is currently.
