Casa do Campo lies in the Portuguese Algarve, between Silves and Messines. It has a peaceful location near the beautiful beaches. The home has room for 6 people. Up to 8 people (with maisonette, extra costs). It has its own pool and beautiful terrace with an outdoor kitchen. This 3rd-generation family home was renovated with plenty of love and attention to quality in 2015, while retaining its typical character and traditional charm. During the renovation, great importance was placed on the use of natural materials, like whitewashing lime and natural stone floors sourced from the region. Solar-powered floor heating and a clay oven guarantee a warm atmosphere during cooler times of the year. The spacious property (1400 m2) with old-growth trees boasts the option of fresh fruit as available by season, e.g. oranges, avocados, lemons, and noni; all available for you to pluck yourself and add some vitamin-rich ingredients to your meal plan. The small henhouse gives you the daily gift of fresh, organic eggs. Cool off in the small pool that has been incorporated into the former reservoir. To increase that feeling of well-being, we have filled it with saltwater. In this small oasis, you can set your mind at ease and are completely out of sight. The large, covered barbecue is great for outdoor meals and it is easy to spend the evenings in the lounge with a fine glass of Portuguese wine, where you can take in the last warming rays of the setting sun. The unique character of the home is enhanced by the opportunity (upon request) to experience typical Portuguese hospitality. The couple who owns the property (Lena and Nelson) are happy to prepare you a typical Portuguese lunch or dinner so that you can come home from a relaxing day at the beach to a spot at a set table without having to leave this peaceful oasis. The meal is prepared exclusively with the freshest ingredients, mostly from the organic farm. Your personal tastes, whether they be skewed toward vegetables, meat, or fresh fish, are always incorporated. If you would like to spend an evening out of the house, the owners also offer a babysitting service. It is child-friendly, peacefully located, and has large terraces, two of which are covered. Wheelchair accessible. The adjacent maisonette has a kitchen and bathroom (for 2 to 4 people). Casa do Campo is a marvellous place to stay for the discerning guest, whether you are a family or a couple. This single floor, 130m2 home is nestled gently into its unspoilt natural setting. Traditional Portuguese ambiance as well as luxury and comfort await. It is not hard to set your mind at ease here since the only thing you can hear besides the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves in the wind is the sound of absolute peace and quiet.

A perfect spot to unwind
Casa da Campo was a perfect place to spend time with friends and to explore the Algarve. Our week was relaxing the house had all the amenities needed for a holiday in a beautiful setting. It is perfectly located if you like to be away from the hustle and bustle of tourist centres. We had dinner at the local restaurant which is just a five minute walk away, the food did not disappoint.
Silves is close by and retains the characteristics of a town that has not been spoilt by tourist development.
Nelson was very hospitable. I would recommend this beautiful home to the traveller who wishes to be away from the busy tourist centres of the Algarve that being said the beach towns were all within easy driving distance.
We loved it!
Together with my husband and daughters of 5 years and 10 months we had a lovely stay at Casa do Campo. More than lovely because words don't do it justice... A breakfast with fresh eggs and strawberry's from the garden (my daughter as a little farmer, loving it!). Then having a great time at the pool with the kids. More than enough space for everybody in the house even when friends came over with there baby girl they could stay the night. We had wonderful diners from the outdoor kitchen/bbq. The outdoor space is great. And then the decoration and warm welcome from Nelson....
You have to experience it yourself!
A gorgeous respite that pictures cannot describe
From the moment we arrived at Casa de Campo, Nelson greeted us with wine, cheese and bread, along with a tour of the property. We were speechless! It is absolutely gorgeous and we immediately knew the week would be fantastic. The views are spectacular. The house is immaculate and so restful! Fresh orange juice, daily eggs, and all surrounded by nature and yet easily reachable by car to some of the best beaches in the world. Silves is a small town where even a few hours at the market gives a sense of culture and wonder. We grilled dinner outside, cooled off in the dipping pool and had time to unwind from our days in Lisbon and recharge before leaving for Porto. This house is amazing. Like other reviewers our best meal was at Rainha-- a place just down the street! This place is magical. If you are going to the Algarve region, do yourself a favor and stay here with a rental car. Take day trips but come home to paradise. Thank you Nelson and Sonia for a wonderful time that our family will always remember!
The photos don't do it justice!
We had a wonderful, relaxing week at Casa do Campo. The house is a few minutes from the town of Silves, a quiet valley village, and about 20 mins from the nearest (and stunning) beach. It's a perfect home base for exploring the Algarve and after checking out the entire region and it's vast differences, we were so glad that we were staying in Silves. It is "away from it all" and yet so close. But, more importantly for us, a family of four, the house was incredibly comfortable. It's well-equipped and the recent restoration to the house is gorgeous. There is a lovely outdoor living area as well, though it was too cold in February to eat outdoors. You can see how many considered choices were made in the design and decor-- Nelson and Lena did a fabulous job and the photos on the listing do not do this home justice!!! The pool is small but I imagine the perfect place to cool off when it's hot in the summer. The gardens are so lovely and our kids absolutely loved checking for eggs in the chicken coop every day. We were also welcomed to pick vegetables and fruit (the best fresh squeezed orange juice ever) from the garden. Surrounding the house are vineyards and more orange groves. We saw one neighbor the entire week (their is plenty of space between neighboring houses). It was such a quiet, restful and relaxing week! I will absolutely miss sitting in the hammock each morning enjoying the morning sun, soaking in the view of the rolling valley and vineyards.
Nelson met us on the first day and left a lovely welcome gift of cheese, bread, wine. And, of course, fresh eggs from the chickens! Nelson checked on us once more during the week and is such a gentle and kind host. Sonia, their daughter, was available quickly via email every step of the way and was so generous with her kindness as well. They offer several suggestions of what to do and where to eat and we can confirm that the simple chicken restaurant next to the veg market in Silves is delicious.
If you're looking to be away from the tourist scene and have a more authentic Algarve experience, this home is a wonderful choice. I would absolutely stay here again and have already recommended this home to friends.
Wonderful vacation home!
This was a beautiful and very peaceful vacation home in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed the countryside surrounding the property and the simple but modern/rustic decor in the home, not to mention the outdoor patio with grill and refreshing pool area and the wonderful organic garden complete with chicken coop for fresh eggs each morning! The bedrooms were kept cool at night with a/c that works well. It is evident that great care has been taken to create this peaceful oasis. It is even more beautiful than the photos show. We loved every moment of our stay. Highly recommend!!
Gorgeous villa in the countryside
We all loved this villa - it was comfortable, had so many fun amenities, spacious, and just lovely. I wished we could have stayed longer. We had everything we needed, and then some! My kids loved exploring the garden, and the pool was so refreshing during the heat wave. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill (just steps away) served us the best meal of our entire vacation.
You really can not go wrong - thank you to our gracious hosts!
Casa do Campo sits in a valley, between green hills and orange plantations, near Silva, an old, Moorish city with a large castle from the 13th century. Roughly 150 m from the home, there is the restaurant and cafe, Rainha. The dam, Barragem do Arade, is just 1 km away. Silves has 2 large supermarkets, Modelo and Lidl, many restaurants, and bars as well as fresh bread and fish each day. Potimao, on the coast, is located nearby as well as the picturesque Monchique in the mountains. By car, it is not far to Alentejo, Rio Quadiana, or Cabo S. Vicente. Roughly 6 km away is the typically Portuguese Messines, with its traditional town centre, full of charming cafes and bars. Casa do Campo also leaves you just 20 minutes from discovering the diverse offering of beaches.
