About Jim Konopka

I grew up in New York and as a child my family would vacation in Vermont every summer and I fell in love with Vermont. After moving out west I never forgot Vermont and purchased a Vermont log cabin in Jamaica. My wife and I always look forward to visiting the house during the spring and summer months. We love the opportunity to share our special place with those who love Vermont as much as we do.

Jim Konopka purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Jim Konopka chose Jamaica

The house is so convenient to many attractions including Jamaica State Park, Townsend Lake, Ball Mountain Reservoir, historic town of Manchester, and of course Stratton Mountain, which offers great skiing and numerous restaurants. The house is very private on six acres with a nice stream running through the property.

What makes this cabin unique

Property has a large fireplace that is perfect after a long day on the slopes. Home is on 6 acres, so it is very private. I enjoy hiking on the West River Trail that is across the street from the house in the Ball Mountain State Park.

Beautiful, relaxing, mountain setting

  • 4 of 5

We were very happy with our stay! This home is perfect for a family get away to the mountains where relaxation is the main goal. I would have given five stars, but I would have liked to have seen the weeds growing up through the back deck be taken care of. Also, there was food left in the refrigerator and cupboards from previous guests. All and all, this home provided my family and I with some wonderful memories that we will cherish forever!

Plenty of room & clean inside. Property was nice, set back from road, surrounded by trees, woods. Location was great, loved Jamaica State Park nearby.

Classic Vermont

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time. The photos are accurate. The fireplace is the beautiful focus of what you want to see in a log cabin in Vermont. The wood walls in the bedrooms were very nice as well. The beds were made when we got there, so we didn't have to bring our own.

We didn't have the best weather... 90*+ hot, and rainy/lighting at night. The house was supplied with a fan, and when the TV wasn't available, we found thoughtful movies provided. The BBQ is in the screened porch which was great because of the rain, but dirty, so after cleaning it, it seemed ok...but... before our ribs were done, ran out of gas. We transferred the ribs to the oven, whose door didn't close well. The house could have been a bit cleaner, and supplied with more towels, cleaner/better pans. However... Not a big problem, we just dealt with it...I have rented other homes, and mention these negatives only because if corrected...the house would be absolutely great. My adult sons, wife and I went to Bromley and had a blast with zipline adventure fun, laughs and memories that will be told for a long time. I so appreciated the fact that Buddy, my four pawed granddog, was able to be with us! Again, we had a great time!

Enjoyable stay.

  • 5 of 5

Adorable log cabin, clean and well maintained. Close to Stratton- Enjoyed a wonderful hike in the nearby Townhend Lake area, Single track- moderate difficulty- Wish I had my mountain bike. Inclement weather, but the house has cable and DVD, and the wonderful cozy fireplace kept us toasty and content. If I return to this area I will definitely try to stay here again. Loved the sound of the stream just slightly away from the house. The roads nearby would have been great for road biking too. Cute little country store with nearly everything you'd need EVEN Gluten Free products at the base of the road to Stratton. YAY!

Home away from home for sure!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was exactly what we wanted for our vacation to VT to see the fall foilage. Just the right amount of amenities for our family at a great price. We loved the giant fire place and the comfy couch. It was fun to go explore the property in the woods and discover a picnic area. The house is so close to Jamaica State Park with lots of hiking options! Jim was so easy to work with and was very accomodating, we highly recommend this wonderful getaway. Thank you!
