This A-Frame has been completely remodeled into a charming beach house. It is right across the street from the beach in the Jetty area, which means no need to access a staircase to get to the beach which is the case in most of Bandon. It's also a short .4 mile walk to the best shopping and restaurants in Old Town Bandon.
It sleeps up to 6 people, but you have to love each other cause it’s small and cozy. We furnished it as a cozy home and it is completely stocked with everything you need. You are welcome to use anything you find including rain boots, crabbing equipment and kitchen food staples. There is also a Sony 40' LCD TV and Bose stereo/DVD player with MP3 player hookup. We do no have cable; so bring your iPod and any DVDs you want to watch. There is also high-speed wireless internet and a washer and dryer.
This little beach shack has become a favorite destination for many of our friends and family. We had spent about a year renovating the original A-Frame structure and have transformed it into a charming cozy home. The Beach Shack invites an intimate experience with your family or friends that is more unique than simply staying in a traditional home. You will definitely feel as if you are staying in a fully stocked home and not a 'rental grade' vacation home. Feel free to make yourself at home and enjoy all that is provided.
Troy Hickerson purchased this cottage in 2008
We originally discovered Bandon on a month long camping trip up the coast and we fell in love with the amazing beach, charming Old Town and friendly people. Bandon stood out as a unique place where we'd like to spend more time and eventually we were able to buy this amazing place on the beach only a short walk to Old Town. Hopefully you'll get a chance to enjoy Bandon as well.
Bandon is wonderful however most of the vacation rentals are like staying in an ordinary house. Our house is different as the remodeled a-frame is a unique spot that embraces a cozy vacation get away. It's been loved by many couples on a honeymoon as well as families with young kids. We hope you enjoy it as well.
Besides our honeymoon in Europe, this was our favorite vacation. The house is an ideal romantic setting to relax and enjoy the incredible beauty strolling the beach in Bandon. So much better than staying in a typically constructed house or hotel. I would highly recommend it.
Very cute little shack close to the beach. There were just a few things that didn’t work but other than that I’m definitely happy and will stay again I’m sure!
We are very impressed with how well stocked this home is. The owners have thought of everything! Super cozy way to enjoy Bandon. We will definitely return
This is a very quiet and peaceful place to rest. I've stayed here twice and I'm sure I'll be back again. I love the Bandon Beach Shack!
Just perfect. Clean, comfortable, well-equipped. Awesome location across from the beach and close to town. Only coastal area not hit by the smoke.
We loved this a-frame! It was the perfect size for a family of four. We loved, loved, loved having the washer and dryer. The ability to use the crab pots, skim board and fishing pole was great- didn't have to rent or buy anything. There were a few things that were bothersome. First, the smoke detector would go off every time we cooked, even if we were just boiling water for coffee. And it was very windy so nothing could get left out on the deck, so keep that in mind. Even a wooden Adirondack chair blew over. But we plan on coming here a lot more, so leave us some space on the calendar! Just kidding!
Our time at the Bandon Beach House was one of our favorites in our 5 week tour of the Pacific Northwest. We only had two nights and wished we had reserved a couple more!
The location is ideal - not too far from the action in Old Town, but far enough that it was quiet and super accessible to the beach. Every night we took a short stroll (and my son used his scooter) down the private beach path to watch the sunset.
For July, we were pleasantly surprised by how few people are on this beach! The rocks and other sea treasures were fun to find along the shore and our boys really loved the big rocks and driftwood forts that people had made. There were plenty of sand toys (buckets, shovels, etc.) to use as well!
The updated IKEA themed decor was so cool, and the back 'mud / laundry' room was perfect for returning from the sandy beach. Everything was there that we needed to play, cook, do wash and sleep comfortably.
The only issue was that I have some allergies, and the downstairs bedroom caused some sinus problems, so I slept up in one of the twin beds in the loft. Just seemed a little stuffy or something ... and ironically was the only room with 'antique' furniture instead of IKEA, so maybe it was something in the old furniture that was triggering me.
Also, I would highly recommend getting some new mattresses. That might have been part of my problem - dust or mold or something. The mattresses are quite old, and if we're going with the IKEA theme, just grab a few new ones from IKEA and you'll get 5 stars next time we visit! ;)
Lastly, the neighbors directly across the street have quite a run down place in comparison to many of the surrounding homes which is unfortunate. Maybe it was just temporary, but they had a huge dumpster in the front yard and junk laying all around the property. If I owned a beachfront home, I'd certainly take better care! Sitting on that nice front deck of the Bandon Beach Shack, it would have been so much nicer to not have to look at their place as we faced the beach/sunset, but it wasn't enough to turn us off from coming again. Just a heads up of what to expect in the neighborhood. It was safe and there were other homes that were quite beautiful just down the street. All-in-all - you should book this place if you can!
We originally discovered Bandon on a camping trip and fell in love with the amazing beach, charming Old Town and friendly people. During a monthly long camping trip up the coast many years ago the town of Bandon stood out as a unique place where we'd like to spend more time crabbing, walking the beach and exploring the area.
