About Dan Jeffers

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, grew up in Ohio, came to Honolulu in 1973 to attend the University of Hawaii, and then made Honolulu my home. I lived in these rentals with my daughter while she was teenager until she went away to college. My wife, Irene, who owned a commercial vacation-rental cleaning business in Kauai for 13 years, has hired and trained our special cleaner who cleans these units between each guest stay. When not rented to our guests, we enjoy staying in them whenever we can.

Good value, decent location, and nice views

  • 4 of 5

We spent 3 nights here. The hotel has very little to offer and is in need of upgrades. However, we only needed a place to sleep in the nights and this was perfect.

The units were clean and well-maintained. Unit A is a good size for 2 people and has amazing views, especially during sunrise. The kitchen in unit A is small but has everything we needed. Unit B is a little tight for 4 people but since our kids are small (7 and 9), it was ok. There is almost very little space to walk when you pull the trundle out...Also, the deadbolt on the main door (not the ones for the individual units) is non-working...there is no hole in the door frame for it...so you many want to make sure to lock the doors to the two units. WiFi is free and works just fine.

Parking is $25 per day but you can pay for your entire stay up front. It will give you unlimited in and out for the entire duration. There is adequate parking but the spaces are tight so be careful if you have a minivan or big SUV.

Location is decent. It is on the north side of Waikiki so getting to the beach takes a little longer than most other hotels but is still reasonable. It is however within walking distance of many stores and eateries. I especially recommend the McCully Shopping Center at the corner of Kapiolani Blvd and McCully St. It's only a 5-min walk away and has several good restaurants there (ramen, Japanese Curry, Korean tofu, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc.). The Snow Factory there is a must try. It is not the same as the regular shave ice.

Overall, I would recommend this to everyone who is not looking to spend a lot of time in the room. The price was significantly lower than the other options.

Short walk to beach!

  • 3 of 5

This was 2 converted hotel rooms. Not an abundance of space. But for access to Waikiki Beach it was great and affordable.

The suite was clean and everything was in good repair. The owner called to check that everything was ok and we confirmed that it was.

If you have a full itinerary this could be a nice base but it doesn't provide a lot of space for relaxing nor entertaining.

Amazing Views and Close To Everything

  • 5 of 5

This condo has amazing views of Honolulu and the canal below. It's centrally located and only a few blocks away from Waikiki Beach. Please note that parking is actually $25 per day, not $20.

Amazing location!

  • 3 of 5

the condo which we stayed in although a little small, was a great pied d'aterre in Honolulu! Walking to beaches, restaurants and shopping. The building itself was in need of upgrades. Great value for price if want to be in the middle of it all!

Great stay for an unbeatable price

  • 5 of 5

This condo was perfect for us. There were 4 adults and 1 baby in our party. This condo came with everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked, lots of extra towels, even had beach toys for our little one.

The view is amazing! You'll see the mountains and the ocean. We were lucky enough to catch the entire fireworks display from our room during the Honolulu festival.

The location is great. A short walk to the beach, bus stop, stores and many great restaurants across the canal (a great little sushi joint on the lowest level as well).

I would definitely recommend this condo and am hoping for another trip soon.

Great location, convenient supplies, and reasonable price (Rented combined 2 units, A & B)

  • 5 of 5

Me and my parents stayed here for 4 nights during our first visit to Hawaii. We didn't know anything about location of things so we relied on the previous reviews that said it's conveniently located. They were right. The place is a few blocks away from the edge of shopping/tourist stretch of Kalakaua, and the Waikiki beach, which is perfect, close enough but not overly pricey/loud. 7-eleven, pharmacy and coin laundry are around the corner.

We rented a car from the airport, but the parking on the premise $20/night worked just fine. (I was told it'd be $16/night so maybe the price went up, but we were fine with it). The building itself is old, but the unit is very clean, and has convenient supplies that I believe both the owners and previous guests have left, including extra pair of goggles, extra towels, inner tubes, and some toiletries. There's also lobby front desk, security, convenient store and fast food inside the building. I didn't use the pool but there was one on 5th floor as well.

This was substantially cheaper than other hotels we found within a few block range, and came with a kitchen and other supplies. I highly recommend this place to anyone who'd like to enjoy both Waikiki/touristy spots and also with the option of cars to get around the island.
