Villa Charlotte is located in a peaceful area of upscale residences, just a 20-minute walk from the center of Cannes. Inviting and fresh, the stylish apartment offers one bedroom and a combined living area, both opening to private patios and gardens. Facing south and west, the apartment features lovely garden views and wonderful light. A bedroom with queen bed looks outdoors to a classical statue, cypress trees and shaded seating area. The living space includes a fully-equipped kitchen and comfortable areas for sitting and dining. Beyond is a patio where outdoor furniture and large planter with lemon tree and roses encourage al fresco living. The surrounding grounds, green and lush, feature an infinity-edge swimming pool and Mediterranean gardens with flowers, trees and birds. Close to all of Cannes’ excitement, but a secluded oasis to refresh and relax, the apartment is a perfect pied-à-terre to enjoy Cannes, Nice and the stunning Côte d’Azur – with easy access to Provence and Italy.

More about the Apartment: The open living space includes a compact, complete kitchen and comfortable dining and sitting areas. The Italian-design kitchen features top-of-the-line Siemens and Bosch appliances, including refrigerator/freezer, oven, induction cook-top, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer combination. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glasses, cutlery, knives, pots, pans, cooking utensils, toaster and more. The gracious living area also features a dining table for four, Bo Concept leather sofa, comfortable chairs, entertainment center with 26” (68 cm) flat-screen Sony TV, DVD and original artwork. The living space continues al fresco. Sliding glass doors open to the private patio with table, four chairs and a large jardinière with lemon tree, roses, lavender and more. The two terraces are connected by a large, private garden area with grass, a small palm tree and other Mediterranean plantings. The apartment faces south and west, the preferred exposures, and has air-conditioning.

More about Villa Charlotte: Villa Charlotte is a small, gated residence in a tranquil area of Cannes called Oxford, known for its Belle Epoque villas and other high-quality properties. The property is named after Queen Victoria’s granddaughter, born Charlotte of Prussia. She and husband Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Meiningen were former owners, and Charlotte created delightful gardens on its grounds. More recently, the property housed a mid-century hotel. This was taken down to its concrete walls and rebuilt in 2008 to become today’s Villa Charlotte.

Amenities at Villa Charlotte include a large swimming area with inviting infinity-edge pool, wading pool, gated entry and a dedicated parking space for the apartment. Spacious communal gardens feature an iron gazebo, marble bench and flowers. Phoenix palms, cypresses and nettle trees shade ornamental lemon trees, flowers and greenery in a lush and cool haven. More about the Area: Cannes is a charming city renowned for its film festival at the Palais des Festivals on La Croisette. In the nearby port are stunning yachts from around the world. Across the street is Allée de la Liberté, where markets of flowers or antiques start each day. Overlooking the sea and white-sand beaches, La Croisette on one side is a place to stroll along a wide promenade. The other side is for indulgence – at elegant shops like Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Prada – or relaxation at sidewalk cafes. Along nearby Rue d’Antibes, shops are plentiful but less dear. The old town of Le Suquet beckons with delectable dining.

Villa Charlotte is a 15- or 20-minute walk from Cannes’ center. On the way is the train station, with easy access east to Antibes, Nice, Monaco and Italy. Aix-en-Provence and Marseille are west. Buses to town center are just steps from Villa Charlotte. Shops, restaurants, grocery stores and a boulangerie are nearby. The sea is 800 meters away. Nice Airport is 20 kilometers.

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Charlotte, the grounds and pool were relaxing and weather was very warm so it was great to cool down in the pool.

It's a quiet location but easy to walk to local shops and Boulangerie and public transport is nearby, the car parking space is useful if you have a car.

The apartment was clean comfortable and the air conditioning worked well, we had a small issue with no broadband during our stay. it's worth checking in advance that its operational if this is important during your visit.

I would recommend this property for a truly relaxing experience and memorable holiday in Cannes.

Perfect for Us

We had the most wonderful time in Cannes and the surrounding areas. The Villa was absolutely gorgeous and the apartment was more than we could have imagined. Our stay was quiet, comfortable and relaxing. Having internet access allowed us to work when needed. The patios were great for morning breakfast/coffee and evening wine. Conveniently located near the downtown, but just enough distance to provide peace and quiet after a long day. Perfect place to stay when visiting Cannes, we will be back!

Villa Charlotte

Villa Charlotte is the perfect antidote to the buzz, hype and glam of Cannes. It's a peaceful retreat as a result of it not being designed as holiday accommodation. This is a gated community where the vast majority of the residents are professional people who are at work during the day. This results in total lack of irritating noise and almost exclusive use of the pool and garden areas.

The apartment has absolutely everything required for a quality holiday and I congratulate the Turners on their good taste.

Wondeful Property

Villa Charlotte is an excellent choice for a stay in Cannes.The apartment is as advertised and then some. If you do not have a car the bus is literally a 3 minute walk from the apartment and is only 1.5 Euro into the Cannes center. Everything worked and the internet was fast and efficient. I recommend this apartment.

Great apartment

This lovely apartment was exactly what was portrayed on the website. It was clean, well maintained and nicely decorated. We were there around 2 weeks and were very comfortable. The owners were very attentive and eager for us to have a nice stay. The location can't be beat, if you want to get away from the center of town. There is a bus stop right at the end of the street, which we used a lot to get there. The walk is nice, though, too. We had a little trouble with the foreign appliances, but figured it out in time. The washer dryer is located under the sink in cabinet, and it took us a little time to find. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

A Terrific Summer

I’d first like to say that I agree with all of the other reviews here and rather than repeat their points, I’ll try to add some additional info. My wife and I spent 12 weeks at Villa Charlotte in May, June, and July of 2012. We found it to be both a great place to relax at on its own and also a good base for exploring the surrounding areas. I also found it to be an easy place to work from full time using the wifi provided. We took day trips to Ile Sainte Marguerite and St. Tropez by ferry, Grasse and all parts of Cannes by bus, and Monaco, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice, Eze, St. Paul de Vence, Haute de Cagnes, Biot, Antibes, and more by train and/or bus when necessary. Most can easily be reached by car as well if you have one, but we were able to make it to all without one. This will require a decent bit of walking unless you can time the buses just right from the apartment or train station, but we welcomed the exercise to walk into town to the train station or port, (or just to the beach in Cannes). We rented a car only once during our stay, and used that opportunity to explore further into Provence, with stops at Fontaine de Vaucluse, St. Remy, Les Baux, Arles, Avignon, and more. The only other extended trip we took was over to Corsica (Calvi a must visit!) by way of a car ferry from Nice. If you have at least 3-4 days to spend away from Cannes, I’d highly recommend either trip, but any of the other day trips mentioned can be enjoyed in just a half a day, so 2 or 3 or more can be accomplished in one full day with proper planning. Also some quick restaurant recommendations for Cannes – The Cocoon Lounge and Le Square on the nearby Carnot (main street leading into Cannes) are not all that special foodwise, but the staff at both is extremely friendly and they are great places to grab a café or a drink and chat with locals. Further up the hill away toward Le Cannet is Bistro des Anges, which is well worth a try if you want to treat yourself. La Guerite on Ile Sainte Marguerite is also a great treat, but you can also just pick up a couple of baguette sandwiches and find yourself a private cove for a much cheaper option to enjoy the nearby island. La Boheme in downtown Cannes was our other go to. Not much really spectacular here, but we found all of the basics executed here very well at relatively modest prices compared to the nearby restaurants that could charge you twice as much for half the quality. All in all it was an amazing time!

The gated residence is located in the tranquil Oxford area, known for its Belle Epoque villas. A great lover of flowers, Charlotte added rare plants to the grounds, creating enchanting gardens that still remain.
