Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cabin in Tellico Plains

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This quaint bungalow is nestled creekfront in complete privacy at the end of the road surrounded by mountain forest. It is right on a rushing creek running through all 3 acres. Enjoy panning for the gold we always find in it, sleeping to the peaceful sound of the creek directly from the comfortable sleeping porch or bedroom with beautiful views of the creek, relaxing on the spacious screened in porch day and night, or toasting marshmallows in the outside fire-pit while star gazing.

It is THE perfect place for a relaxing, romantic getaway for a couple, or bring the kids who will absolutely love playing in the creek and panning for gold. The outdoor screened in porch is THE BEST place for daytime napping or nightime sleeping in the large, very comfortable queen futon. Often two couples choose the bungalow because of the outside porch sleeping or pull out queen sofabed. If you are looking for a larger cabin, please look at my other creekfront cabin which sleeps 8-10 also in Coker Creek at vrbo #182825

In the evening, the creek has beautiful low voltage lighting throughout the property. Nearby there are hundreds of hiking trails including four incredible waterfall hikes and Bald River which is the most spectacular river to kayak, fish, or swim.

Cyclists can bike right from the property straight to the Cherahala Skyway and also the beautiful River Road. Motorcyclists love staying here as well because of the easy access to the Skyway and easy gravel road to the cabin.

If you enjoy seclusion, are a nature lover, and like the peacefulness of creek side accommodations, this is the place for you. You won't find a more cozy, private cabin RIGHT ON the rushing creek. It is truly getting away from it all and back to nature relaxing in paradise. There isn't another cabin like it available for rental.

About Jennifer Haase

I chose this area because of the simplistic back to nature feel of Coker Creek. I love being outdoors, listening to the creek, watching the stars, sitting by the outdoor firepit and expecially sleeping on the outdoor screened in porch. Incredible!

Jennifer Haase purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Jennifer Haase chose Tennessee

This area is a nature lover paradise. It offers tons of hiking trails, the most gorgeous waterfalls I have ever seen outside of Hawaii, Bald River, and the Cherahala Skyway. The ATV trails and riding in this area is exceptional.

What makes this cabin unique

Relaxing in the screened in porch directly on the creek cannot be surpassed. Being in complete privacy surrounded by forest is extremely peaceful.

Great escape!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Creekside Bungalow! The location is secluded, but close enough to Tellico Plains and Cherokee National Forest that getting out and about is easy. Jennifer was kind, accommodating, and easy to work with. My only complaint is that the wifi is shared with her lodge property next door, so the signal is difficult if not impossible to pick up inside the bungalow. I think this could be remedied with a signal booster or additional router, but I don't know the specifics of the area. Overall though, great trip! We will definitely consider staying here again.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much and found the property to be exactly as described. There was a beautiful dusting of snow our first night there ... the first day of spring. The fireplace was wonderful and the screened in porch above the creek a great place to be when it warmed up a bit. There are many gorgeous creeks and rivers in the area that provide many opportunities for first time paddlers and challenges for experienced ones. Our favorite short hike was to Fall Branch Falls off of the Cherohala Skyway.

We had a wonderful time and would love to rent this property again in the summer.

Beautiful little cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is truly a gem - situated at the end of the road (very remote) in a dense forest right next to a creek. The creek lighting is great - very cool to checkout the water at night. The porch is also beautiful and a great place to relax. My only concern is dust/potential mold in the cabin? After two (of three) nights my allergies were very bad and I decided to cut the trip short by one night since I had no medicine with me. I'm not sure if it was the cabin itself (had kind of a musky scent to it) or just bad timing - so I will not fault the property! Jennifer was great and very responsive. Just mentioning the allergy thing so future guests can be sure to bring allergy meds or at least advil in case a headache should arise. Also - wifi was never available which wasn't a problem for me either but you shouldn't count on it.

Overall, this cabin is very cute, great location, well appointed (everything you need really!) and I would highly recommend, with the few caveats mentioned above.

Complete relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Extreme tranquility. The description already written says it all. There is no other place we have stayed that has this much peacefulness. Cabin is well equipped with everything two people would need. Fantastic piece of heaven on Earth. The only thing that needs to change is the name of it. It needs to be named "Serenity" or "Tranquility". Fantastic price...location...get away. Will go back and rent both places with all or kids..and their families. LOVE IT!!!

Hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5

We love it so much we have extended our stay! The screened deck off the living area, right over the creek is beyond perfection! The cabin is small, with just a nook of a kitchen, but perfect for our needs. No dishwasher- not a problem for the 2 of us. Nice touches like a stone vessel sink in the bathroom. Nicely furnished, with a real cabin feel. The bed does seem small/cosy compared to our king at home, but open the window & the sound of the creek lulls you to sleep!

Bring staples as noted on property description - condiments, soap, extra Paper products. Wood is available for a fee, or you can also buy in town.

Wi-fi is spotty to non existent on our iPad/iPhones on the porch or deck. Rent the larger lodge (same owner) next door if this is a deal breaker for you. No cell service; satellite tv has adequate channel selections.

It did smell musty when we arrived, but the last people out had left dehumidifier off- we turned it back on & problem solved.

Caretakers Jill & Eldon are neighbors nearby to help or answer questions, & also owner is super responsive.

We will return as often as possible!

Owner's Response: Yes, the cabin is tucked away against a mountain and surrounded by forest low down by the creek so we are lucky at all to have internet. Laptops seem not to have a problem however ipads and iphones need a stronger connection once in a while. A great way to escape the devices for awhile anyway!! Because it is against a creek, the humidifier is very helpful during the summertime to keep everything fresh. Air conditioning as well is very useful, however many people would rather feel the breezes and listen to the creek with the windows open. There are plans for an upgrade to a larger bed inside. Most opt for and rave about the screened porch sleeping which everyone finds divine! Come and stay in nice weather to enjoy comfortable sceened in creekside sleeping! Camping with all the creature comforts of home! An incredible experience to sleep watching and hearing the creek right in front of you. Thanks for the helpful reviews. We always strive to improve our guest's experience.

Amazing nature activities at your doorstep. It is a river and waterfall paradise with 4 incredible waterfalls within a small radius drive of the cabin. You could spend a lifetime here and never see it all. Here is a 'top' listing of some recommendations:

Buck Bald –It’s a quick drive up to a gorgeous 360 degree view. Nice stop and beautiful sunset view.

White Water Rafting – Ocoee, Nantahala or river rafting on the Hiawassee all nearby

Bald River Falls – about 25 minute pretty drive directly to the falls. You can view it right from the bridge. There is a gorgeous hike up to the top of the falls and continues for as many miles as you can handle.

Bald River – there are great swimming holes and incredible scenic fishing areas all along the River Road on the way to the Falls. There are several pullout spots on the right where you can park, bring chairs down to the river, sit on the rocks, fish, swim, sunbathe.

Cherahala Skyway is a beautiful scenic drive which is accessible by going through town, or by going the back way towards Bald River Falls.

Indian Boundary Lake – this is a great mountain swimming and fishing lake where you can lounge on the beach, hike or bike the three mile easy trail surrounding the lake. It is located off of the Cherahala skyway about five miles past Turkey Creek road.

Another great hike to a beautiful waterfall is Falls Branch Falls. This is located off of the skyway just before the NC border. It is on the left, with the sign W Rattlesnake on the right. If you pass in to NC, just turn around and it will be on the right past E Rattlesnake.

Other great falls are Coker Creek Falls and Conasauga Falls. The coker creek welcome center has all the information and directions to these. The welcome center is located on Highway 68 about a mile south of the cabin turn off. I have left also brochures for other attractions in the cabin.

Gold panning is a huge attraction to Tellico Plains from people nationwide. Bill’s pitstop is the premier guide for gold panning tours as well as cave tours. He takes people to his hidden location and teaches how to gold pan. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area. He knows of incredible caves some with stalagtites right nearby.

Tellico Grains – fabulous homemade breads you can have sliced to take to the cabin, sweets, and the best sandwiches . It’s a must stop! They are closed Sunday and Monday, but open otherwise for lunch until 2pm. On Saturdays they make homemade brick oven pizzas (they get very busy, so I recommend calling ahead to order). They are right in the middle of town.
