About joseph silvaroli

I enjoy getting involved in special projects, love putting my signature accents and artistry on my remodeling . Love art ,music and culture and the serenity of a cottage getaway. Like traveling and finding similar hideaways to spend quality time at. I have tried to turn every room into a special place, and I am continuing to add all the needs to make this a very memorable vacation getaway, that you just may want to return to.

Why joseph silvaroli chose Greater Niagara

Enjoy the quiet and comfortable atmosphere and different 'to dos' of the area. We are close to everything, but has the feel of a remote country setting. Hop in the car and take a scenic drive along Lake Ontario or the Niagara River,or to some of the unique towns and villages that have wineries, shopping, antiquing, along with some very interesting history that surrounds this whole area.

What makes this cottage unique

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of the real world and sitting around the fire place or campfire with family and friends. Take an early morning walk to the state park and hike one of the great trails or head down to the beach and skip a few stones. Bring your boat and launch it from one of the two ramps that are close by. World Class salmon, trout, and large mouth bass fishing is all around us. On your way to Niagara Falls don't miss making a stop in Historic Lewiston, and check out the shopping, their many fine restaurants and their free concerts all summer long. Also, don't forget about the Factory Outlet mall that's located in Niagara Falls where you will find super deals and close-outs on designer labels and products.

Not quite what we pictured....

  • 2 of 5

The property was almost what we pictured, and overall, we had a great stay, but there are a couple concerns that we wish we could have foreseen that would have made our stay more enjoyable.

First, the VRBO listing said there were bunk beds. Our stay included three adults and two kids – the plan was for the kids to share the bedroom that had bunks. We arrived and there were no bunks, just a twin bed, so one kid had to sleep in the living room of a house he is unfamiliar with, and ultimately, he wound up sleeping on the tile floor of the room his parents slept in.

The property is not waterfront, nor is it on any private water, as the pictures might imply. A fishing license is required to fish on the water that is walking distance from the property. The Wilson Tuscarora beach that is nearby is filthy…when walking the beach, we were disappointed to observe used feminine hygiene products littering the sand.

The listing also boasted both a charcoal and a gas grill. When we arrived, we were disappointed that the charcoal grill was the type you would find at a campsite or park, not the kettle variety we were hoping for. We opted to use the gas grill instead, and on the first meal we grilled (a lunch), we ran out of gas before the cooking was complete. Joe was called, and asked what time our dinner was. He stated that he’d try to get it to us by then, and arrived within a half hour of the time we’d hoped to eat.

Lastly, read the contract closely! We had anticipated (as stated in the contract) that a security deposit equivalent to our first payment would be returned to us within two weeks of our stay. The two weeks passed, and no deposit was returned. When corresponding with the owner, the first email was ignored. The second included a copy of the signed agreement (which DID state that a deposit would be returned), and when that citation was made, the owner stated that the contract was a generic one and he would need to correct it. He thanked me for bringing the discrepancy to his attention, and said ‘sorry.’ No deposit was returned.

Aside from those concerns, the property is beautiful. And secluded. The cottage is spotless. The town of Wilson is perfect for removing yourself from the commotion that is Niagara Falls. We would have likely chosen another property though, had we anticipated the above concerns.

Owner's Response: We try very hard to please, and provide a clean, comfortable, reasonable priced vacation property, but sometimes i guess it"s not possible to please everyone. A security deposit was never charged and showed waived on their rental agreement as they seemed to be a nice couple with their 2 children looking for a short family getaway. 2 weeks after departure they were looking to get their security deposit returned that they were never charged for. There was a paragraph at the end of the agreement that talked about returning the security deposit after departure( if one had been charged) I told them I will be sure to remove this paragraph on future guests if I waive their security deposit. ( I am not sure I will waive security deposits in the future) I did answer their email within 24 hours, but I guess that was not quick enough. They were also disappointed that they would need a fishing license to fish. I explained they were fishing in fresh water in New York State and that it is a conservation law. The fee covers part of a program that restocks studies and manages wildlife. Another complaint seems to be the Weber propane grill with an extra propane tank and our park style charcoal grill that we provide charcoal and lighter fluid for (not the dome style that they expected). I was called to change the propane tank for them and arrived only 1/2 hour prior to their scheduled dinner time. They could have changed the tank themselves, but I do understand this is sometimes difficult. I certainly do not have any control of the condition of the cleanliness of the beach at the New York state park that is down the road from our cottage nor do we try to fool our future guests into believing we are located on the water. We do have 3 bedrooms with a queen, a double and a single bed. We removed the bunk bed set up for safety reasons. I am glad they thought the property was beautiful, and our cottage was clean and spotless and it was almost what they had pictured. Very disappointed to get such a low review, because we do try to make our cottage a "Home Away From Home"..............Joe

Our 2nd stay just as nice as the 1st!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Joe's house to spend the long Columbus Day weekend with our son, who attends college nearby. This was our 2nd stay at this warm and inviting cottage, and it felt like we were coming home again! Loved it the first time; loved it again. Joe is quick to respond to inquiries and is a most accommodating host whose main concern is making sure his guests are happy and comfortable. The house is within walking distance to beautiful Wilson-Tuscarora State Park and a short driving distance to many other areas of interest. Be sure to check out Olcott Beach ~ a quaint, charming, and pet-friendly town on Lake Ontario. We were fortunate to have glorious fall weather, and enjoyed using the fire pit one evening. The stars looked close enough to reach out and touch! Joe's home in Wilson is clean and well-equipped, and in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Most definitely recommend! Thanks, Joe!

Wonderful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This has been a great retreat in a beautiful setting within walk to Lake Ontario and public dock. The cabin has great sized kitchen for congregating and a nice sized living room to relax. Plenty of room for our family of six. The fire pit made perfect days end topped off with s'mores. An easy drive on the Robert Moses Parkway put us two blocks from the falls. If time allows be sure to visit Fort Niagara.

Very well equipped

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of renting this 3 bedroom cottage over the Labor Day weekend. We needed a place near NCCC to move my daughter in for her freshman year. It worked perfectly for our needs. Very nicely remodeled cottage has a great shower and well-equipped kitchen. The sink in the master bedroom was handy as well. Lots of information about the area was appreciated. We enjoyed a night by the campfire and also celebrated my daughter's 18th birthday while we were there.

Thank you!

a cozy getaway it say it all

  • 5 of 5

this was the best rental I had in years. Kids loved it. Enough room for a family of 5-6. The kids enjoyed the fire pit the most every night they were sitting around it and played some games, Sometimes a little too carry away with their noise. A very nice location not too close not too far away from the falls and Lockport caves. Thank you Joe we love to come back to relax
