Relaxing week on the lake
We are a family of five, with three teenagers (and a dog), that appreciated the ability to spread out - between the bedrooms, great room, hot tub area, and deck/lake, we never felt like we were 'on top of each other'. (Although the youngest teen felt a bit slighted with his bedroom, which was the sun porch with no shades/privacy.) We had an early issue with the gas grill not working. Paul was very responsive, and had a new gas grill delivered within a day. There were a couple of appliances/items at the house that are in need of a little attention (fridge had a puddle of water at the bottom, and some of the outdoor chairs were broken). Nevertheless, it is a comfortable house where we were able to unwind and enjoy the lovely lake, the fire pit, and the hot tub. My son was very pleased with the fishing on the lake - he caught his first bass. And again, the owners were extremely responsive!
Fantastic kids really enjoyed the place and the water was perfect
I will be back to rent again the owner was nice and answered all of our questions
Always great having the Wilsons stay at our Forest Lake home and they are welcome ANYTIME!!!
Lovely Lakeside Cabin in New Hampshire
We were lucky enough to have booked an extended stay at Paul and Anne’s extremely charming lakefront home during the Coronavirus craze. We initially only booked one week, but they were kind enough to have us for an additional month for a very reasonable price. They are such a lovely couple to communicate with. The house itself was very spacious, warm, and welcoming! It was right on the lake with 3 separate decks and a dock on the water. We enjoyed the hot tub, and the fire pit as we would watch the sun go down. We also took advantage of some of the scenic local hikes, and drove around to see some of the towns iconic covered bridges. We cannot wait to come back in more normal times so we can bring our family and friends to show them a fantastic time! Thank you so much Paul and Anne!!
Perfect Family Reunion
I can’t say enough about our stay. Anne and Paul were fantastic hosts. The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything that we needed and them some. We arrived the night of the recent nor’easter that left the area without power for several days, but we were as snug as bugs in a rug thanks to the onsite generator that kicked in for us automatically. There was also lots of seasoned wood on site for the wood stove , and we enjoyed the crisp fall evenings around the fire pit looking out over the incredible lake. Tons of space to enjoy together both inside and out, and lots of games, books and such to occupy your idle time. We never even turned on the TV. WiFi signal was great l, and there was a nice washer and dryer on site for our use. Paul and Anne checked in on us a couple of times during our stay, and they were very responsive to our messages prior to our arrival as well as during our stay. The place exceeded our expectations, and we left with some incredible family memories. THANK YOU Paul and Anne! We will return!!
Property manager was easy to contact and very responsive to questions. Bathroom and kitchen surfaces were clean but the rest of the house needed dusting of furniture and vacuuming under furniture - looked like it hadn't been done in a very long time. Bikes in the garage all had flat tires (our grand daughter was disappointed) - maybe because we were there at the end of the summer season? The lake was beautiful and there were several boats, kayaks, etc to be used. Quiet neighborhood. Well stocked kitchen supplies.
Susan- We're glad that you and the family had a good time on Forest Lake!
In the summer we're booked back to back with just 3-4 hrs between guests. We have our cleaning staff concentrate on the important things, bathrooms, kitchen, waterfront etc. We don't ask them to move furniture and vacuum underneath, since they have enough other vacuuming and other things to do. . We do that in June, when there's a break in Sept ( which was the 3 days right after you) to lift beds, move couches, rollup rugs and vacuum everything.
We're sorry that you didn't notice the plug in air compressor as soon as you enter the garage. You could have filled any tires in about 10 seconds, oh well.

About Paul & Anne Harris
We used to run a Country Inn and Spa in Canada. While we certainly enjoy our homes when we can, we really have fun providing an enjoyable and relaxing time for our guests, who do seem to return year after year. We'd like you to be one of them!
Paul & Anne Harris purchased this House in 2002
Why Paul & Anne Harris chose Winchester
The town of Keene, NH, 10 miles north has a wide and constant variety of things to do, with it's 3 universities and very active merchants assoc. The main downtown, with 60 shops & restaurants, with no national chains is very unique. There are all the 'Big Box' stores on the outskirts of Keene. Funky Brattleboro, VT is only 14 quick highway miles away. All of that is contingent on being able to pull yourself away from all the boats, games, skis that we have at the house!
What makes this House unique
Forest Lake is very protected from prevailing winds, so it warms quickly in the Spring and freezes quickly in the Winter. As a mostly summer seasonal lake, from early fall to late Spring, you own the lake! We have all the boats and sports equipment for a fun filled vacation any time of the year! We always have a current list of things going on in the area, restaurant menus , maps, hiking guides etc.
