2 BR/1.5 Baths (+ outdoor shower) with panoramic water views; sleeps 4
- English, Spanish, Portuguese
My wife and I fell in love with the North Fork on our first visit in 2006 and immediately began looking for a vacation home. We love the laid-back, bucolic, anti-Hamptons feel of the area, the friendliness of the people, and the burgeoning food-and-wine scene.
Neil purchased this House in 2007
Why Neil chose Peconic
This small waterfront house had something we never dreamed we could have: incredible privacy and unending water views, with an essentially private beach.
What makes this House unique
You are unlikely to find a house as private as this, with no houses to the west. The views of the beach and Sound are all yours. Hemmed in by the bluff and protected sand dunes, it is far removed from the summer hubbub of Goldsmiths Inlet and the public parking lot at the other end of Sound Avenue.

Sun, beach, sand, Sound...there is nothing better than spending time at Sound Dunes Cottage
After our first experience renting this property last summer, I couldn't help but do it again. Sound Dunes Cottage reminds me of the Eastern Long Island I knew as a boy. It was on glacial beaches like this, with their stones carried by ice and dropped on this enormous sand bar of Long Island, that introduced me to geology. This is a gorgeous piece of Earth; the dining room is a window on on the Sound with a perfect sunset on every clear night. And if you can tear yourself away from this particular spot of land, there are wineries and restaurants that are well worth the visit. The cottage is comfortable with a great kitchen, a secluded porch and comfortable furniture--a treat.
We had a wonderful stay. The three picture frame windows facing the beach allow you to really take in the view while waking up in the morning and enjoy beautiful sunsets at night.
Love this place. It's right on the water and the house was a perfect size. Very clean and comfortable
We had a great stay. The house was cozy, had kitchen basics and had private beach access. The host was responsive when we needed him but for the most part everything was well explained prior to our arrival. Would definitely recommend.
Perfect Waterfront Cottage on North Fork
Perfect setting and wonderfully appointed cottage overlooking the Long Island Sound. After long walks on the beach we ate in two nights--we love to cook--and enjoyed watching orange and pink lit clouds announcing the sunset while begin warmed by the cozy fireplace. Neil also provided an extensive list of favored wineries and restaurants. Looking forward to our next visit...which we've already booked.
Perfect in every way!
This house is perfectly located on the Long Island Sound, with breathtaking views and complete privacy.
The home is spotless, and equipped with everything needed to relax, cook, and listen to music, while you take in the Sound.
We couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend a wintery weekend and look forward to returning in the future.
