Beautiful!Exactly as the pictures!
This was our last visit to the Dutch Caribbean and we wanted to have a self catering holiday instead of an all inclusive hotel, this villa fitted the bill perfectly! When we arrived the owners collected us from the airport and took us straight to the Villa, so no messing about with buses or taxis.
It was lovely to get a bit of inside information about where to go for good beaches and supermarkets, as a car comes with the Villa we had the chance to explore for ourselves! The Villa itself is clean and beautifully decorated everything you could need whilst there was provided...even towels for the beach! The pool and pool area was lovely and clean and the pool very inviting! A couple of days when we had been to town we stayed by the pool instead of going to the beach as it was a great place to relax and just chill!
My husband and I have been to Aruba a couple of times and expected Curacao to be much the same, its not! Its completely different. The beaches in Aruba are long and sandy and the sea quite rough, big crashing waves, but Curacao has smaller little coves, the sea there is amazing!! Warm and clear and still, perfect for swimming and cooling off. The weather in Curacao was definitely much hotter and much more humid but the Villa does have aircon in both the bedrooms so its okay at night.
The owners showed us where to find a couple of good supermarkets, and we found one ourselves that we used a lot too. I would say that food prices are very similar to the UK with the exception to fresh food, fruit, meat and veg being quite a lot cheaper. But a word of warning, stick to what you know! We brought some sausages for the BBQ one day and they were dreadful! If it doesn't look the same...then it isn't!! the
Whilst there we went into town, its so worth a trip! It really is a beautiful town (the capital) the buildings are brightly painted and really well looked after! The town is definatly in two halves with the 'floating bridge' inbetween! One half is very tourist shops, sun cream and fridge magnets! Whilst the other side has beautiful designer shops and smart cafes..both have there own charm!
We really enjoyed our holiday and although we wouldn't return, that's only because the journey time from the UK is a killer, and not because we didn't enjoy Curacao! If you want this sort of holiday then I cant recommend this Villa enough!
