About Gary Wimsatt

We are life long residents of the area and we personally built this home in 1998. We built the home wherein you capture views from all of the windows. It is peaceful and quiet and we believe it has probably has one, if not the best, panoramic views in San Juan County.

Gary Wimsatt purchased this house in 1998

Why Gary Wimsatt chose New Mexico

Well, it is centrally located in the 4 cornere area and is located between the towns of Durango, CO and Farmington, NM---both only 25 minutes away. It is also close to the CO/NM border and the snow melts once you cross the state line:)

What makes this house unique

You may hike to the river below if you so desire to fish and/or just simply would enjoy a river walk. We have one of the best mountain bike trails in the country "The Alien" (also, a historical space ship crash/site recorded in 1948 and kept secret by the US Gov't)---just 5 miles down the road. "Aztec Ruins" is just 10 minutes away. And for the Durango enthusiasts; San Juan 'Quality Waters' fisherman; golfers; rafters; skiers, etc...., you are just 30 or less minutes away----all the amenities of the 4 corners are nearby as this home is centrally located.

The place needs a good cleaning.

  • 3 of 5

It is disappointing that such a nice home with such a great view is not being kept up with from a cleanliness perspective. If it gets cleaned up I will stay there again.

Owner's Response: I feel most certain our departing guest is referring to the carpet. It had some bad carpet stains from the previous guests and I was not able to address them professionally. Rest assured, that issue will be addressed and I am sorry for your disappointment. This is our first unfavorable review since being in business for almost 10 years. We welcome any other concerns you might have as we always look to improve our place.

Spacious, spectacular views and well maintained

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy family time or quiet time. Kitchen well equipped and setup for cooking and buffet serving.

Owner very responsive when contacted. Views are spectacular, look forward to returning in the spring.

Location is perfect close to major highway yet set back so you don't have the traffic noise.

Grocery store, restaurants and other services minutes away.

Great for Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We chose this house based on its proximity to Farmington, where my uncle lives. My 7 cousins, their children, my uncle, my brother, my dog and I all stayed in this house. There were plenty of beds and couches, only my cousin and myself slept on sleeping bags in the living room (beautiful room with high ceilings). The views from this house are incredible and the house itself is very clean (which is sometimes hard to tell from pictures). We had planned on visiting the Aztec ruins or Durango, but we ended up staying in and grilling our meals, playing pool or cards, and hiking down to the river, because we were having so much fun hanging out in the house. We had such a great time that we're already planning a trip for next year. My uncle is hoping to buy a house nearby because he loved the area. I highly recommend staying at this house if you are visiting the area.

Great spot for a family winter vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 adults and 2 small children spent six nights here. We had a wonderful time and the place was fantastic. We really appreciated all the ammenities - especailly the wood pellet stove, pool table, internet access, and the stunning views. The open layout of the kitchen/dining/living area was great for meals and group activities. The location afforded us a quiet respite for the whole family and a convenient location to the Durango area for skiing, shopping, snowmobiling and the DSNGR station.
