Historic Miller's Cottage on Creek

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4-6

As the story goes, this cottage was once a distillery that crafted rye rum and corn whiskey for sale in Philadelphia. Located within a beautiful setting with natural and historical wonders to explore, we are a small family farm raising sheep, goats, alpacas, chickens...and cats. A rustic experience awaits!

- Relax on the front porch, enjoy your favorite beverage and listen to the sounds of the Conewago Creek.

- Help with barn chores. Or just view the animals grazing from your perch on the front porch.

- Receive a tour of this Historic Mill and property.

- Take a leisurely stroll through the woods & wetlands trail on the property.

-Walk or ride your bike from the Mill to Mt. Gretna (12 miles) on the Conewago Rail Trail located right across the creek. While there, visit the regionally famous 'Jigger Shop' for some ice cream (open seasonally), swim at the lake, attend the annual art festival in August.

-Great central location for sight seeing & history inspired tours. Guests have taken trips to Gettysburg, Hershey Park, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York City.

-We are happy to offer suggestions of things to do. Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine tour/steam train ride & a visit to nearby Centralia is one of those special unusual side trips that we love (approx 1hr 30 mins away)

Why K Neale chose Elizabethtown

From the 200+ year old farmhouses and mill to the peaceful creek flowing over huge boulders, we knew this was a special place to raise our family and animals.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Watching the sheep graze from the swing on the guest house's front porch.

A very comfortable house, oozing character, in breathtaking surroundings.

We cannot praise Aberdeen Mills enough as a place for a vacation! The house is very clean and well cared for with gorgeous views from the porch. The grounds include a fantastic swimming hole which was great for hot days and a fire pit by the creek that was a fantastic focus for relaxing in the evening! We also made great use of the grill for cook-outs.

Katcha and Merritt are fantastic hosts, from the welcome pack of local wine and their own honey to a fascinating tour of the colonial era mill, this was a trip our family thoroughly enjoyed and plans to repeat! They even rustled up a guitar and fiddle for our campfires!

Amenities are a short drive away in Hershey or Elizabethtown...we truly had the best of both worlds!!

Perfect family vacation!

We had an amazing time on the farm! Mr Merritt was incredibly kind to our two year old and showed him how to mill flour and feed the chickens! He’s still talking about it! My wife was thrilled to have her morning coffee with the sheep!

Pennsylvania historic country cottage. Fantastic !

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed everything about the cottage rental. Great stay for families with easy access to Hershey, Harrisburg, Etown, and Lancaster. Loved the tour Katcha took us on of the old Aberdeen mill on property. Fantastic job she and her husband have done with presenting history and time-relative pieces. Kids enjoyed gathering eggs and seeing the sheep, goats, and alpaca. Loved the sound of rushing water along the rocky stream. Hike on property was nice and wildlife abundant. Would love to return another time. Kevin, Brayden, and Aubrey from Lubbock, Texas

Very pleasing and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed the Mill and all the remaining tools inside. The creek was a relaxing to listen to and watch. A front porch like this is on the to do list at home now. Very accommodating for children with all the toys/books and animals around the farm. Sleeping arrangements were tough but managed. Overall it was a home away from home feel.

Great stay for a rustic family farm experience

We loved the charm of the house and the overall farm. My girls loved the animals and the many cats on the property. Each morning the girls loved running out to see the animals grazing. We had everything we needed. Overall, we had a wonderful time.

A tranquil family farmhouse getaway

  • 5 of 5

Well situated near Lancaster's sites, this gem of a historic mill certainly beckons to relax and just be together. Our family loved exploring the barn, hunting for eggs, meeting the animals and taking in the property's beauty. Katcha, thank you for the kindness that you extended to our daughters and for letting them help out! The farmhouse was comfortable, well-outfitted and thoughtfully decorated with unique and vintage farmhouse-style finds.

Winter was still thawing into spring during our stay. While our travel wish list is long, we'd like to come back in the warm weather, for bike riding, creek play, and s'mores around the fire pit.

Historic, beautiful farm!

  • 5 of 5

The owners were very helpful and informative. Katcha gave us a tour of the mill and farm grounds. She also helped us find eggs that the chickens had laid and told us about the various animals. We had a great time and recommend this beautiful place to families, couples, and anyone looking for an out-of-ordinary experience!
