A Soothing Getaway
From my first contact with the Hamiltons, I was welcomed like family. The home is beautiful, restful, and well-appointed. Everything you can possibly need is at your fingertips. The owner is always a phone call or email away for any questions that might arise. The views from the kitchen and upstairs bedroom are stunning, whether at dawn or dusk. I highly recommend this home for a relaxing getaway.
What a lovely family and how nice it was to provide the backdrop for a happy family milestone. In addition to having such great guests, we were gifted two books (one autographed and now in our Cottage library) from one of our guests who is a published author. Thank you
Aside from the great weather, which was just dumb luck, we had great time. The house is beautiful. It is drenched in light, open, yet cozy. Betty Jo was nothing less than caring, and always responsive to our calls (not about anything serious, just some minor questions). Overall it was an excellent vacation !
The conscientiousness and courtesy of this lovely couple, along with their great sense of humor, made them a delight to have as guests at the Little Cottage.
This place is amazing!
Lovely house with everything you need,
Lake is so warm you don’t want to get out, beautiful sunsets and huge fish for fishing!
We were warmly greeted by Betty Jo over the phone upon arrival. She was a great host, sweet and accommodating to all our needs.
My family and I had a wonderful vacation and will definitely be returning.
Thank you Betty Jo for sharing your wonderful place with us.Thank you.
It was an unexpected surprise and so nice to hear from this loving mother during their visit, letting me know how much her family was enjoying the Lake. I was delighted. Thank you for being such gracious guests.
A beautiful lake house with spectacular sunsets
This is a six stars lake house! Betty Jo's Little Cottage is very clean, homey and fully equipped. We, parents with two kids, enjoyed staying there very much. The lake access is great, water is awesome and basking in the afternoon sunshine until the sunset is just perfect.
Betty Jo: Thank you for beeing a great host and sharing your home with us. We're already planning our return to The Little Cottage next summer.
Any host would be delighted to welcome this lovely family. It truly gives me joy to know that they felt at home at The Little Cottage House and that they enjoyed their stay on the Lake. We would look forward to having them return.
A dream vacation
This was the second year my husband, son, brother and sister in law stayed at the little cottage and we all felt at home but in a much more relaxed and lovely way. The house is beautiful - the new kitchen appliances are wonderful and what can anyone say about waking up in the morning and looking out on that lake!
Betty Jo does really treat us as guests in her home and we feel so comfortable there. We look forward to many more visits!
To receive such lovely comments from any visitor is a pleasure, but when it comes from one of our returning guests it is even more so. How thoughtful it was of Barbara to notice some of this year’s upgrades and to tell me how much she liked them. We love sharing our home with her and would always welcome her back.
Perfect place to watch the sun set
We had a lovely stay in early August. The house is in pristine condition and the house and kitchen are better equipped than any other I've rented (and I've rented many.) There is even a printer provided (with a supply of paper) if you bring a laptop. But the best part is the location - right on the lake, and very quiet. We did quite a few things over the week - Olana, Martin Van Buren house, the Clark Museum, Mass MoCA, the Barrington Stage theater in Pittsfield, window shopping in Hudson, eating out - but the most memorable was sitting on the porch watching the sun set. What a lovely, restful spot. Betty Jo, the owner, is very gracious. She doesn't live nearby but is always available by phone and email. And her sister Mary, who is also lovely, lives a few doors down and came over when we had trouble figuring out the wifi (the modem was unplugged - did we feel dumb.) The one cautionary note - if you are looking for a place where you can literally kick back and put your feet on the furniture, this rental is probably not for you. There are a lot of rules about what to do and not do. The result though, is that the house is in an extremely well-maintained condition.
We so appreciate the wonderful guests whom we have welcomed to The Little Cottage House and who treat it as the home that it is, rather than "just a rental place." Many suggestions and observations have been received over the years from gracious visitors, including this thoughtful guest, and which subsequently have been incorporated into the Cottage. They really are valued. Thank you
In-season you can conveniently visit Tanglewood Music Festival, Saratoga Race Track, Lindenwald- the family home of our first US citizen-born President: Martin Van Buren, enjoy the Chatham Fair, take a Dinner Cruise on Lake George or just fish and/or swim in front of the cottage. Off-season your day trips might include skiing, visiting the State Capitol, Hyde Park (FDR's home), Cooperstown, the Rockwell Museum, shopping and antiquing or... just doing nothing!
