About Tom or Deb Jordan
Your hosts, Tom and Deb have lived in the area since 2002, although Tom grew up just across the highway and knows the region quite well. After a 26 year career in the USAF, Tom and Deb decided to move back to his native roots. We love the area with so much beauty and peace. We just want to share this experience with everyone.
Tom or Deb Jordan purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Tom or Deb Jordan chose Sedalia
This little cabin is located near our home, a mountain lodge (which we also rent out in the summer).
What makes this Cabin unique
Hiking fishing, white water rafting, mountain biking are all activities on or near the property. Just the views from the cabin's elevated deck offer the peace and quiet of mountain living. A unique setting, centrally located to many of Colorado's major attractions. Cabin in the Pike is perfect for relaxing in the sun at the pool, or setting out on day excursions for Colorado's best sight seeing.

Great little mountain cabin
Perfect size for solo or couple, or even small group of 3-4 people. Clean, equipped with all appliances and kitchen amenities you'd need. Window AC unit was a nice surprise, kept things cool during a late summer heat wave, as did the great little 'mountainside' pool which was great for a dip after some hot day hikes (on the property, which has trails going into the Pike!). Tom and Deb are great hosts; Tom stopped over for a quick in-brief to give the lay of the land and cabin and were available for any questions throughout the stay. The best part was unplugging - sitting on the deck sipping coffee in the morning and listening to the wind blow through the pines and aspen - great! But with full wifi and DirectTV, was able to keep up on any news and football scores/games! The cabin is a short distance from lots - in addition to those listed in the page, a great drive down and back up the Platte River valley, golf at Arrowhead, hike Devil's Head trail and fire tower overlook, Red Rocks, and of course Denver. Also some prime 4-wheeling territory close, based on seeing some of the nearby road traffic with lots of trucks hauling cool 4-wheeling vehicles. The property (with cabin and lodge) are off a canyon road, easily accessible in summer by regular car. Tom and Deb were great and easy to deal with, great communication.
Looking forward to a return visit someday!
Thanks so much for staying with us. You were the perfect guest!!
Very nice stay. We have never stayed at a Home Away where the owner lives on the property but Tom and Deb made us feel like we had privacy. The cabin is very nice. We didn’t even get a chance to use the pool because of all the activities in the area. The house is stocked with everything we needed
A very nice cabin location easy to reach. Comfortable and peaceful. Easy to reach the national forest and hike into the woods. Hummingbirds, chipmunks, steller jays, plus huge boulders around the cabin. Pool on the property but not heated and it is Colorado. Would return and enjoy again as it was peaceful and very quite at night. Tom was around and was very helpful with any issues. Internet worked well except early in morning as it was slow then.
The cabin was very nice and it was fun hiking on the property. It was nice watching the hummingbirds in the morning and the chipmunks. The cabin was quiet at night and is well stocked for the stay. We are looking forward to coming back.
Had such an amazing time in the cabin in the woods. Enjoyed the whole time of being on the go and relaxing. Close enough to Colorado Springs to do things there and the Platte River to fish for trout. Really enjoyed ourselves! Loved the hikes in the Pikes National Forest. Just beautiful!
Great location IN THE FOREST!
We just returned from a 9 day stay with our 2 Labs. Let me say first that our dogs did not meet the size requirement (under 60lbs), but we were up front from the beginning and got approval from Tom, as they are both well behaved dogs. We were looking for a place to stay that had hiking trails right out the door, and this cabin was exactly that!! We were able to wake up and take the dogs on an exhausting hike every morning, without leaving the property, which was SO convenient!
On day 1 Tom met us at the cabin to answer any questions and give us specifics on how to contact them for ANYTHING that may come up. But otherwise they let us be and you wouldn't even know they were nearby.
I definitely agree that the cabin is well suited for 2 adults.. I wouldn't try staying here with 4. It's sized just right for 1 couple... not so small that you feel claustrophobic (windows EVERYWHERE) but small and open. Perfect for 1 couple, or even just 1 person.
The location is a very easy drive to Castle Rock, which is plenty big (grocery, restaurants, shopping, etc) and then an hour north to Denver/Golden or south to Colorado Springs, so you are secluded in the woods, but within easy driving distance of plenty to do.
Colorado in general is very dog friendly, there are many bars and restaurants that allow dogs, so if you are someone who likes to take your dog places with you, I would recommend the Bear Creek dog park in Colorado Springs (which I found out about from someone else's review here)... it was worth the drive and then they went to a couple breweries with us to make the most of the drive. They also are allowed on the hike at Devils Head Lookout trail (on leash).
The cabin was very well equipped with anything we could need... there was nothing I couldn't find. I think the only person I would not recommend this place for is someone who would have issues going up and down stairs, as it is a must both inside and outside the cabin. We had no problems whatsoever, but steps are unavoidable, just an fyi.
Thanks so much for allowing us to stay at Cabin in the Pike... it was exactly what we wanted!
