The second bedroom on the main level has it's own upstairs room, and the upper level bedroom has an attached loft.

About the owner: The owner family (consisting of parents, two grown boys and their small families) regularly gathers for bonding time where their heart is -- Colorado.

Scattered around the US and abroad, they decided to re-establish a home base in Allenspark in 2005 -- skiing, snowboarding, 4-wheel driving, water rafting, hiking, camping, exploring -- celebrating the best of amazing Colorado..

They fell in love with this adorable vintage 1950’s log cabin in the middle of everything they enjoy of the Rockies. The family of ten absolutely loves this cozy, romantic, and spacious cabin and, because of that, believes that everyone will. They are thrilled to share the mountain experience with others, hoping that all will enjoy laughter and love there and build indelible joyful lifelong memories.

About jessie webster

Jessie Lois Webster is the mother of two grown boys and four grandchildren. Thanks to the Air Force, much of her family’s growing up years was spent in Colorado – skiing, snowboarding, 4-wheel driving, water rafting, hiking, camping, exploring -- celebrating the best of amazing Colorado. Her boys and their families never left the area.

Jessie’s graduate education from the University of Colorado, Boulder, led to a career in Corporate Training and Development which in turn, led to worldwide assignments with Hewlett Packard and Motorola. Even though her last position, CEO of a software company specializing in tools for human resource development, brought her to reside in Chicago, the family regularly gathers for bonding time where their heart is -- Colorado.

In 2005 they decided to re-establish a home base in Allenspark.

Why jessie webster chose Rocky Mountain National Park

Our family loves this cabin and its remarkable location, because it accommodates us all, yet is intimate and cozy..

Allenspark is a perfect place - easy to reach from the Denver International Airport and yet a spectacular, serene, relaxing mountainous retreat. In this quaint little town near Estes Park, we found an authentic vintage log cabin perfect for antiques and woodsy furnishings where wildlife is abundant.and the space is mountain-clean.

Here abound a multitude of activities: Horseback riding, kayacking and whitewater rafting, down hill skiing, cross country skiing, easy hikes and challenging climbs.

The cabin is surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest and the Rocky Mountain National Park and its myriad of famous hiking trailheads.

We make memories here, love and laugh, inspire and bring out the best in each other.

It is a joy to share it with others. We know it is a perfect place for families to enjoy their time together,so we've stocked it with dress up clothes, toys, movies and games. It is a huge pleasure to make this sweet and wonderful cabin available to you.

What makes this cabin unique

At the cabin we've created a space that is both romantic but also family friendly. Special features:

* a luxurious bathroom with a hot air massage tub for two, walk-in shower, electric fireplace and flat screen TV, heated floors.

* hammock for two

* 20' by 30' volleyball/badminton court with rubberized mulch

* horseshoe pit

* 4 miles to the Wild Basin Entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park

- close to some of the most beautiful trails in America

- Within the borders of the Roosevelt National Forest

* Each bedroom is a suite with its own space

- outdoor spaces for individual musing -- a balcony, spacious deck, flagstone patio,

- Private, serene property with aspen groves, pine trees and meadow spaces. Although you can see other cabins in the distance, they do not encroach on the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Jesse was very responsive to my requests before our trip, and she was especially helpful in giving us recommendations for grocery stores, restaurants, and activities. The cabin was exactly as described... we loved it. The location is fabulous. We felt secluded in the beautiful surroundings, yet close to Allenspark, Estes, and RMNP. We saw elk, wild turkeys, and two mysterious visitors in the dusk: either VERY LARGE coyotes, or wolves. We were thrilled. It was such a joy to sit out on the deck in the early morning, looking for animals that might appear.

Charming cottage in the aspens

  • 4 of 5

We were 7 adults on a faculty retreat, so the accommodations weren't perfect for us. Still, we loved the charm and beauty of the cottage and the setting. A mama turkey came to visit with her chicks each morning! The house was clean and comfortable. We had some trouble with the well water running out, but the owner did everything she could to help, and we managed with limited water for 10 hours without any real problems. Very enjoyable weekend.

Owner's Response: I apologize deeply to our guests. This has never happened before and I have taken steps to make sure it will never happen again. Along with our well, we have a 600 gallon reserve tank. But due to a dry summer (and a newly installed water system for our landscaping), the well could not replenish itself fast enough. I now have a regular check on the water level so we are not taken by surprise and it will never happen again.

What a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the Aspen Mountain Cabin in Allenspark. Charming rustic cabin with a few spa-like features and all the amenities you need. Situated in a secluded grove of Aspen and Pine. We could see one other cabin through a clearing. Often, the pics don't give a true picture of reality, but in this case, the cabin and property is as good, or better, than it looks! It was wonderful.

The deck is very nice. Master bath is fabulous. Plenty of room for our 6 adults and then room to spare. Nice family areas plus secluded areas to get away from the group. Jessie was very easy to work with and accommodating. High praise for this gem! Easy access to Estes, RMNP, and hiking. We enjoyed Soup and Salad dinner at Baldpate Inn and ate quite often at the cabin.

Thanks Jessie!

A little slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Aspen Mountain Cabin is absolutely wonderful! A beautiful, peaceful, secluded cabin perfect for a large family (sleeps 10) or smaller families, and even couples. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary here with our grown children and loved it! The cabin is well stocked with books, puzzles, movies, games, and even toys and dress up clothes for younger children. There is even sports equipment in the garage (horseshoes, badminton, volleyball, etc.) There are plenty of trails to hike and scenic drives to take in the Rocky Mountain National Park. The Wild Basin Trailhead is not far from the cabin. We enjoyed taking day trips (the Trail Ridge Road is a must) and then coming back to the cabin to relax. The deck has a beautiful view and we enjoyed listening to the birds and the whispering aspens. Perfect for relaxing with a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. The wildlife is also great! We were visited almost daily by the chipmunks, mule deer, and even a mother turkey with her four little babies who came right up to the deck! The owners have done a marvelous job with this cabin. The master bathroom is beautiful! They even left a notebook filled with great information about the cabin and the surrounding areas with suggestions about places to visit, hiking trails, etc. We found this to be very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of dishes and cooking utensils, plus some staples. We purchased groceries in Estes Park. This cabin was everything we hoped it would be and more! We miss it already and would not hesitate to visit again!

Beautiful secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

2 families with kids ranging from 4 to 13 stayed here. We all loved the place. It's not in Estes Park - it's Allenspark. But that was actually a bonus as we wanted to hike and fish that section of RMNP anyway.

The kitchen was well equipped. Plenty of games/puzzles for the kids. Comfortable bedding. Lovely outdoor area for morning coffee and evening wine. Would definitely look to stay here again.

Close to the Park; Away from the Hustle

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely charming. There are so many things to say about our experience here that I am sure I will leave something out. The property is tucked away on a dirt road leading through the rustic town of Allenspark. Once you turn off the main road and make your way up a slightly winding track, you come upon a grove of aspen and a quaint little cottage nestled in between. Depending on the time of year, the road is a little rutted, but our friends were capable of fording the road in a sedan with no issues. Once you arrive and step out, however, you realize that this is no ordinary stay in the woods. There is no shortage of places to sit around the cabin - depending on the time of day you can be in the sun (or shade) and relax in style. That said, my wife and I agree that the best part of our trip was the time we spent swaying in the summer breeze in the hammock.

On the inside, it is clear that Jessie has planned for just about everything. Everywhere you look there is a new trunk with toys or costumes or games to keep even the most hard-to-please child entertained. Each drawer in the kitchen had a label to tell you exactly what should be in there. We were fortunate enough that the weather was cool enough at night to justify starting a fire. Jessie is incredibly generous with the supply of wood that she provides for each stay. In the end, our only regret was that we didn't have the opportunity to stay longer.

And, if the house itself weren't enough, we were fortunate, within the first few hours to see velvet-racked bucks, coyotes, and even a black bear in the open space only a few hundred feet away from the back deck! It was truly a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone that is considering going to Rocky Mountain National Park, but doesn't want to be part of the Estes Park circus. In that respect, the cabin is within 10 minutes of the Wild Basin trailhead, which, during peak travel times, is considerably less crowded than the main entrances through Estes Park.

Aspen Mountain Cabin is just outside the little village of Allenspark Colorado which sits at the national park's southeast corner, along the breathtaking Peak-to-Peak Highway. The highway itself is 55 miles of curves and scenery rivaling the postcards from Estes Park, 12 miles to the North. Established in 1918, this scenic town shows the way to some of Colorado's most famous and beautiful areas. Chief among these is the craggy, 14,255-foot Longs Peak, as well as Rocky Mountain National Park, host to alpine vistas, glacial basins and 3 million visitors annually. In addition to visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, visitors enjoy horseback riding at many nearby stables. Fishing during summer months and cross-country skiing in the winter makes the town an attractive year-round destination.

While peak tourist season occurs during the summer months, this town's hiking trails, located at an altitude of 8,521 feet, provide wonderful views of the changing aspen trees in autumn.

Other Activities: Horseback riding is popular in the area. There are many livery stables nearby -- one within 1 mile of the cabin

In nearby Estes Park, you can find white water rafting tours and mountain climbing guides.

Nearest Lakes: Lily Lake is a stunning alpine lake under the watchful gaze of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker. What makes Lily Lake a great family destination is that it’s right along the highway, so it’s easily accessible for people of all ages. The lake has sturdy picnic tables on the east shore. We had a family reunion several years ago and enjoyed a picnic there while watching the sun set behind the mountains. Instead of stopping at the tables, we struck out along the trail around the lake, which is only 0.8 miles long and handicap accessible. It is level and lined with logs, so it’s perfect for a wheelchair or a leisurely stroll. We walked past anglers fishing for the cutthroat trout. Other lakes: Marys Lake (trout fishing), Brainard Lake (fishing), Copeland Lake, Bear Lake.

The Webster cabin is a perfect base for numerous hikes of all levels of difficulty.

Twin Sisters: At the top, you can see the great majority of the RMNP peaks, as well as Moraine Park and many other areas in the Estes Park valley.

Other trails near the cabin: Little Mountain, Middle St Vrain (includes Timberlake Falls), Rock Creek (just a quarter mile from the cabin door), Long Lake, Isabelle Lake and Pawnee Pass, Brainard Lake to Blue Lake, Loch Vale (one of the best hikes in RMNP and offers something for everyone), Ridge between St Vrain and Meadow Mountain. Wild Basin (an excellent hike for small children–and only a few minutes away), Finch Lake (also known as the Allenspark Trail -- have wonderful views across Wild Basin to Meeker, Long’s, and many Continental Divide peaks toward the west), Sandbeach Lake Trail (the reward is rich: a unique and beautiful lake with a llarge sandy beach and wonderful mountain views. And the trailhead is only 10 minutes away from the cabin.) Chasm Lake (certainly one of the very best trails), hike to Fern Lake.

Ski: Eldora Mountain Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and is snowshoe friendly! It is 32 miles from the Aspen Mountain Cabin. Here is some information about the Ski Resort:

Eldora opened for skiing in 1962.

Eldora receives 300 inches of snow per year qand boasts Colorado's best snow making system. Coverage is 100% of groomed terrain, more than any other resort in Colorado!

The base area of Eldora has an elevation of 9,200 feet above sea level. Top elevation is 10,800 feet.

The most difficult mountain to ski at Eldora is the Corona Bowl - a double black diamond!

Eldora is only 21 miles from Boulder and 47 miles from Denver.

It has 680 acres of skiable terrain and its longest run is 3 miles long!
