We meet our daughter and her family somewhere every Memeorial Day weekend (they live in Michigan & we live in Tennessee). Our ages ranged from 5 to 55 years old (including my 14 year old neice) and everyone had a wonderful time. My daughter & neice loved sunbathing on the dock and everyone enjoyed fishing and swimming from the dock. This was the first time that I did all of the cooking indoors because everything that I needed was there. The basement is unfinished but it was a big hit with the younger group. They enjoyed having their own space including a fridge for their drinks & snacks. There is a marina very close by where we rented a pontoon boat to see more of the lake and that was a big hit with everyone. The walk to the lake was a little steep for 2 of us but there were two benches along the way with a beautiful view to rest and enjoy the garden. Everyone else was up and down the path with no stopping. The deck was very relaxing and the house was quite comfortable and cozy. The owner was very helpful and available before and during our stay. Someone suggested that we stay here again in the future and everyone agreed.

It was perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

My extended family was in the area for a Dec wedding and instead of renting 4 hotel rooms, we stayed at this house. It was great to have a place to unwind, which had a large table to gather around, multiple places for kids and adults to hang out, and games to play. While this was not a draw back, just want other renters to know that the road is very narrow and curve getting to the location, but well worth it!!

Fantastic Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house is so much fun. It is in a perfect location with all amenities that a family could need. Our family of 4, plus 2 dogs stayed at this home for 4 nights. Nearby friends and relatives visited throughout our stay and it never felt crowded. The home is located in a no wake zone which means you can swim all over the cove without worrying about boats coming to close to the kids. This also creates a perfect habitat for many fish and turtles! We never left the home during our entire stay. The home is fully equipped to comfortably sleep up to 14 people. Our kids took over the basement and thought they were on their own special retreat! The porch provided a great place to eat, drink and play games! There were plenty of board games and movies for the kids. Previous reviews talk about the climb up and down the hill. Lets be honest, all lake homes are situated on an incline, otherwise there would be no lake! There are many other homes on this lake that have miserable hikes down to the water. This home has a doable walk, with a cleared path to the water. Just wear shoes with treads, not flip flops.

Pictures truly do not do this home justice! Jennifer is also 100% accessible.

Oh and, on our last day, a wild turkey with all eight of her babies hung out in the front yard! Overall, a super fun vacation!

Perfect Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a weekend stay here with a large group of friends. The house was huge and immaculately clean. It had everything we needed to prepare our own food, including plenty of refrigerator space between the two kitchens. We really enjoyed the private dock and had a great time swimming, kayaking, and fishing. We also rented a pontoon boat and had a blast tubing on the lake! I have no complaints, the house was everything we were hoping for and Jennifer is very easy to work with. We can't wait to come back!!

Perfect for large families

  • 5 of 5

This house was a great mid-way point for our NC/KY family to meet up for our annual mini-reunion. We had up to 7 adults and 5 children at any given time, and plenty of space to house us; stuck the kids downstairs, adults upstairs (helped with noise control from the kiddos). We had meals together every breakfast and dinner at the really large dining room table that had plenty of space for all 12 of us and all the serving dishes. Didn't take long to feel at home. Fantastic internet speeds; cell/data signals were better for AT&T users than Sprint. We came in expecting a rainy week (boo), and were able to hook up our game consoles for the kids, and stream netflix on our devices without interruption (just don't forget cables as the nearest GameStop is 30 minutes away! oops). Huge laundry room, games/book shelf, kids toys, etc. Water pressure was fantastic. Water can get HOT, so beware with bathing children... but perfect for dishes. The fire pit was our favorite spot. There was plenty of wood hanging around from recent tree removals, and we covered what we could so it stayed dry through our rain spells. Plenty of space for the family around the fire, with benches and lawn chairs. We never had to grab our camping chairs from the van. Due to the excessive rain, we didn't get to use the dock until the last day, but it had perfect access to the water with steps going down the steepest part of the hill. As other reviews state, the hill is very steep, so make sure the family brings good shoes. (Note to self, don't go walking down a steep hill wearing flip flops shortly after raining, you'll hurt your bum. hah.). Our 88 year old Grandaddy went up and down the hill a few times, but called it quits later in the week. The location is nice and quiet. At night we heard some coyotes teaching their young to howl across the lake. Owls at night. Cow's on a neighboring hill lightly mooing during the day. Daffodils blooming all around the house made for a perfect Easter. With perfect weather, open the front window and deck doors for a fantastic fresh breeze. Sat out on the deck for peace and quiet often when the family was loud. Due to the weather, we never used the outdoor gas/charcoal grills, but both were stocked. The best part of the entire trip was the responsiveness of the owners. Very easy to work with, available via phone and email (responsive!). Very much worth the cost of the rental. Will definitely consider for next year!!

great place, lots of room, excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We really loved staying here. The house was clean, large, and very accommodating for our group. The price was very reasonable and working with Jennifer was fun. She was quite responsive, and very attentive to any needs we had. I particularly liked this house for our young children, because even though we had a lot of rain, and the kids had to stay inside sometimes, there was plenty of space for them to be active. I would stay here again in a minute. I might try to come during a warmer time, however, so as to get the full enjoyment of the lake. Thanks to the Tibbetts!

Great Vacation Rental on Herrington Lake

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean, well stocked and had plenty of room for our family of 10. The huge kitchen made it very easy for us to have great meal times. The dock was a perfect base for our pontoon and since it is in a no wake branch of the lake we were able to have a great time swimming. The only negative is the steep climb down and up from the house to the dock. The steps help on the lower part, but it was a little tough for us older vacationers to make several trips up and down each day. We certainly would consider this rental again next year, especially if the owner has a chance to improve the walkway down to the lake!!!
