Why Tanja chose Switzerland

Recently renovated, spacious and modern, the apartment is located in a very quiet area of Lucerne, 15-20 minutes by foot or 5-7 minutes by bus to the old town of Lucerne. Bus stop is 20 meters away. Bars and restaurants and shopping facilities are located 1 km from the apartment.

Private garden and playground. Car park for 1 vehicle included. Elevator. Fully fitted kitchen with appliances. 2 Bathrooms with bath or shower with 2 WCs. Central heating.

The apartment is very quite. No loud parties please because of respect to the neighbours.

Smoking only on the balcony. No pets.

great property with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. No English TV though which was disappointing

Bus links to city centre worked really well. Tell pass is a must and dont forget to get your Family card so Kids travel for free. Mount Pilatus excellent, but use cable car, queues for vehicular railway horrendous!! Great city and lots to do

Clean and quiet, but there are better places to stay.

I stayed here with my husband and two kids for 4 nights. It is clean and spacious but very minimal as far as what else you get in the rental price. The kitchen was minimally equipped and stocked - not the best for cooking. The dish soap and laundry detergent were rationed. There were exactly enough towels for the occupants but no extras. Nothing wrong with that, but the description online led me to believe it would be a more hospitable place to stay.

There is a strange online TV service that has very little in terms of English, French or German channels (geared toward Russian, I believe), and it actually didn't even work for the last 2 days we were in town - wouldn't have been a big deal except that the kids would have liked to watch a bit of Olympic coverage. There are also very few power outlets in the apartment. Also, be prepared to hand over cash upon arrival for your security deposit (mentioned in small print on the rental site) and for an unspecified amount for "tourist tax."

The most significant problem was this: I inquired over 60 days before we arrived about shortening our stay due to a change in my husband's business travel. The owner told me that it was impossible because of a 3-night minimum stay. However, in the documents that they gave us upon arrival at the house (local law regarding housing arrangements like this, I believe), it states that cancellation IS possible that far in advance. It is even possible less than that far in advance, with some financial penalty. Because of what the owner told us, we felt taken advantage of and that we were not dealt with honestly. And we suffered for it: I had to stay in the house (and pay) for the full 4 days I had originally booked, while my husband left after one night for his business trip... and had to pay for that as well. So due to the owner's misrepresentation, we had to pay twice for lodging.

We have lived in the area for many years, and we have stayed in other VRBOs locally. We come here very often for work and to visit friends, but we will not stay here again.

Owner's Response: Dear Madams and Sirs We would like to comment on this review. The kitchen is fully equipped: There are 3 pans, 5 pots, cutlery for 12persons, there are more than 30 plates in total (in the kitchen and in the drawer in living room). Toaster, coffee machine from Nespresso, coffee maker, kettle, cheese and meat fondue set, ceramic pots for the oven etc. Dish liquid and detergent were more than enough for 4 days. Two towels were available per person in the bathroom. Additional towels were available in the cabinet in the living room. As the guests arrived at 11pm (agreed check-in time was 4 pm by the way) and the children were tired, we had little time for welcome and instruction and I offered the guests to contact me any time if there are further questions. Short e-mail would have done it nicely to resolve the issue with additional towels. Furthermore the apartment is equipped with a washing machine. The internet IP-TV offers more than 300 international channels. At check-out we realised that the TV was working fine. Mistake in setting up the input channel was the reason. A look into the guest book would have done it nicely. In the guest book there are instructions in English and in German how to operate the TV correctly. Furthermore, the flat offers fibre glass high-speed internet that makes video streaming possible on any laptop or mobile. In every room we have at least 2 power outlets, there are also outside outlets on both balconies. The security deposit and the tourist tax are mentioned on the website of VRBO. We returned the security deposit on day of departure. The guest wrote:” I inquired over 60 days before we arrived about shortening our stay due to a change in my husband's business travel”. This is not true. The inquiry was sent on July 10th 2016, less than one month before day of arrival. We didn´t misinterpret the rules, we just wrote: “please read our terms and conditions”. Because of high season and tight schedule we couldn’t make any exceptions. Last but not least: the guest asked to leave the apartment very early. We came at 4.15am to make check out. Nothing wrong with it, but because of fairness, this should be mentioned. Furthermore, on day of departure, the guest did not complain. We hope, we could clarify the situation and stay at disposal for any other questions.

Spacious Setting

We considered ourselves fortunate to find this gem of an apartment so close to downtown Lucerne! We had a party of 5, but could have had 5 more as there was so much room! Had some rainy weather in Lucerne, but it didn't faze us as we had this beautiful apartment to return to at the end of a soggy day. Bus #10 that takes you downtown and to/from train station is right outside the door, and its schedule is very convenient (and it's posted on the back of the apartment door) so you can pop outside just before it arrives. If I remember correctly, you can get a daily pass with unlimited bus trips which is a good idea if you don't want to walk back and forth. Kitchen well set up with all the basics you'll need for cooking, and there's a nice espresso machine as well. Washer/dryer combo was great to have as well. The beds were comfortable, with new linens, and the rooms large by European standards so plenty of room for suitcases, etc. We enjoyed having the sitting area with large couch as well as the long dining table so we could spend time together as a family. Having two bathrooms was great and allowed us to get out the door faster in the mornings...and the water pressure was great. Tanja was a wonderful host, very conscientious about providing information and guidance. We didn't need to contact her for anything during our stay but I'm confident she would have responded in a heartbeat. Our correspondence with her setting up our reservation was smooth and timely. She met us the morning of our departure to wish us well and ensure we didn't have any problem getting to the train station...Tanja is kind and thoughtful.

Quiet Central Location

Clean & cosy apt

The apt was clean and cosy. It looked much better than the photos shown on the website and we were pleasantly surprised. The environment was peaceful and quiet. The hostess, Tanja, was a very helpful person who provided us with lots of info to move around Luzern.

Very pleasant stay

Very convenient location. Place as described & pictured - very clean, well maintained & spacious. Would definitely recommend. Garage parking a bit small, could be a challenge if you have a bigger car. Bus stop very near & conveniently located( Buses run every 10 mts during peak). No restaurant or grocery store close-by.
