Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
A unique water view retreat, Westcott Woods cabin is the perfect place to spend both an active and restorative break. Perfect for a small group of friends, one or two couples, a small family or an artist in retreat, this cabin provides a private and rustic hide-away that feels deep in the forest, but with a beautiful view and waterfront access of Westcott Bay and everything the San Juan Islands have to offer.
Set back only one lot from Westcott Bay, the views of the water and sunset make Westcott Woods cozy and comforting.
Built from reclaimed materials found at historic sites on San Juan Island, Westcott Woods has an open floor plan with a sunken living room, as well as the front and back bedrooms. The entry leads into the kitchen and the separate eating area.
Both bedrooms have double size platform bed and look out onto the water. Skylights let in natural light all day long.
Westcott Woods has a charcoal grill to cook up the clams you dug at English Camp, the salmon you bought at Friday Harbor, or the shrimps sold on the docks at Roche Harbor. You can even season your feast with herbs from the drought-tolerant organic herb-garden.

About Susan Fallat
My enthusiasm for the San Juan Islands began aboard a cruising yacht which I moored in Fisherman Bay, Lopez island. A touring kayak is now my preferred vessel for exploring these wonderful islands which have included many a paddle with our resident orcas! My children tell me that our cabin is one of their favorite places to spend time with family and friends. A garden designer by occupation, I have left Westcott Woods landscaped in its native habitat to encourage the wonderful bird and animal life. We enjoy almost daily sightings of eagles, osprey, songbirds, fox, raccoons, and deer.
Susan Fallat purchased this Cottage in 1997
Why Susan Fallat chose Roche Harbor
There is something for everyone on San Juan Island...hikes, beaches of all kinds, airstrips, great restaurants, fresh seafood, bakeries, bird watching, kayaking, whale watching, a movie theatre and more!
What makes this Cottage unique
This is the place to recreate and relax, spend time with friends or just unwind by oneself. The extensive English Camp and Roche Harbor trail system are within 5 minutes walking distance. Access to Westcott Bay allows for great clam digging.

Perfect! Beautiful view. Comfy beds. Great location.
Absolutely relaxing. Wish we could have stayed for an extra decade or so. :) Thank you for making such a beautiful place available.
Makes me happy to know that you enjoyed yourselves!
Just as charming as we remembered
We loved sharing the space with our kids l. The eclectic nature of the cabin feels cozy and warm and the views of Westcott Bay are lovely. Finding the washer dryer was an unexpected bonus, too!
Wonderful relaxed cottage with lots of charm.
Great view, quiet, lots of wonderful touches-books, games, cooking utensils, etc. walking distance to English camp, Roche harbor and oyster farm. Loved it.
Perfect and authentic
Many great dinners were had out of this well- equipped kitchen. Rich times with family were set in this wonderful cottage with its great layout and welcoming interior design. We settled in and immediately reached for the extensive and impressive literary offerings and view of the bay. We loved it, every minute.
Delightful and unique
We LOVED our time on the island and especially in your lovely cabin. We went out with a realtor looking at property and places for sale and my husband kept saying he wished we could just find a place like that!
Thanks so much for making such a unique place available for people to rent. I know we will be going back.
My husband, our two school-age kids, and I rented the Westcott Woods cabin for a week at the end of July in 2014.
What an amazing week, and the house was absolutely a big part of it. Cozy, comfortable, with plenty of room, and all the amenities. The kids said it felt like a fairy tale cottage tucked in the woods and overlooking the water. We picked blackberries (not *quite* ripe enough), we stargazed, we enjoyed the ravens and eagles in the surrounding trees....
And the property is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from both Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor, so it was a piece of cake to get to various attractions and restaurants (e.g,. English Camp, Kayaking, Whale Watching).
At night, we'd sit outside and enjoy the stars or go inside and enjoy the various games the house is equipped with (my daughter's particular favorite was Bingo).
What a delight! Thanks, Susan, for sharing your house with us. It truly felt like a home away from home!
