Guestbook comments from the manager

The Post n Beam Carriage House was awesome. It was RIGHT in downtown Woodstock, walking distance from the town square, great restaurants, cool shops, and an awesome Flea Market.

Judy was wonderful, meeting us at the house with the keys, and being warm and gracious from the get go. She gave us the inside scoop on the best things to do in town, gave us a hug, and left us to explore the amazing hamlet of Woodstock.

After trips to the stream, Big Deep, with our puppy who swam in circles, and drives around the hills and walks around town, my wife and I are looking for our own little slice of Woodstock for the future.

I can't say enough about how wonderful the experience truly was.

A great stay. A great space. Would stay there again.

  • 5 of 5

I rented this place for my family when they came into town for Thanksgiving. My family loved the space and loved their stay there. For me the process was smooth and seamless. There was someone available to help them with any small needs they had which was hugely helpful to me. So far this is their "favorite place to stay" when in Woodstock. I would have my family stay here again.

Comfort and Joy - a wonderful Woodstock getaway

  • 5 of 5

Pure comfort! We loved spending time in this charming Woodstock cottage - especially our Sunday morning R&R in the (oh-so-cozy) bed with the NY Times, a pot of coffee, and goodies from Bread Alone! Judy is the perfect host - going out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved being able to walk to town and enjoyed the galleries, adorable shops, and delicious eats - you have to try lunch at the Garden Cafe (great outdoor space!) and Sunday's Drumming Circle (pure Woodstock moment) followed by a quick bite at Shindig. Thank you, Judy

PS: Our friends stopped by and fell in love with the place. They plan on visiting in the Fall; guess who they'll be calling!

Perfect Retreat / No Car Needed

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a space to call home while doing some studying and enjoying Woodstock's fabulous restaurants and boho shops. This ended up being a wonderful choice. The layout was such that I didn't spend any time on the first floor, but my kids did when they joined me for part of the weekend. The upper level studio with kitchen had high ceilings and tons of natural light and a perfect little table for me to do some work. I never needed my car and was amazed at my choices of dining within three blocks! This was a last minute decision to sneak away and Judy responded so quickly to make it happen. She was flexible and constantly in contact and it worked seamlessly. I highly recommend this space if you are looking for a place in town.

Communication with Judy is difficult, property is clean and nice

  • 3 of 5

The property was clean and exactly as pictured. However, we had a lot of difficulty contacting Judy. As instructed, we called her when we were about an hour away so she could meet us with the keys to get into the house. There was no answer and no voicemail box, so we emailed as well. We called again when we were about half hour away. Still no answer. When we got to the property we called a few more times. Still no answer. We were able to find two more email addresses for Judy and the phone number of her real estate colleague online so we tried all of those. Judy's colleague didn't know where Judy was and did not have any other contact info for Judy. Finally, when we were about to turn around and head home, someone renting another one of Judy's properties happened to walk up the driveway. She said we were supposed to call someone named Roger (?) and gave us his phone number. Roger came pretty quickly when we called but we still didn't get in until over an hour after we arrived at the property, and would have had to just go home if the other guest had not come back right when she did. The first night was fine, but the second night we lost power. We tried Roger's number multiple times and it went straight to voicemail. We found what may have been another phone number for him and tried that. No answer. We tried Judy through phone and email several more times. Still no answer. As it was only 4 or 5 degrees outside and the heat went out with the electricity, we were concerned. We found a flashlight and three tea light candles in a closet but had nothing else. Eventually the power company came and fixed the issue, but while waiting in the cold and dark we could not reach Roger or Judy. We had heard from Roger when he let us into the house originally that the house had lost power the night before, so we felt that he should have been available in case it happened again, or at the very least should have left candles or blankets for us. Several hours later, after the power was back, Judy sent an email saying she contacted the power company but she didn't mention any of our other messages trying to reach her throughout the weekend. Overall, the property is nice but communication with Judy is extremely difficult.

Owner's Response: We pride ourselves in having excellent communications with our guests. An unusually powerful storm hit the East Coast of the U.S. this week with heavy snow, high winds, and record-shattering cold not seen in some places since the early 20th Century -- if at all. We are so sorry that we were all the victims of this event and communication was next to impossible. Central Hudson was amazing and thankfully was able to come quickly and fix the power. We will be of course more prepared in the future with the appropriate supplies! We are so sorry for the inconvenience but are glad they enjoyed our property.
