About Cathy

Hello, I love having the opportunity of sharing our beautiful Oceanfront home with vacationers around the world! It's fun knowing that our visitors/guests are happy to be at a restful, peaceful and relaxing environment where they can actually hear the breathtaking sounds of the Ocean.

Cathy purchased this villa in 2000

Why Cathy chose New Providence

'Special Offer' Ferry Boat Ride from Paradise Island to downtown Bay Street where the Straw Market is located. To receive this 'Special Offer' we have a minimum stay of seven nights and this offer is for four adults. Please see photos and request 'Special Offer'when emailing us.

This vacation rental as it's a wonderful location on the ocean and great residential area opposite an Ambassador's Residence.

What makes this villa unique

There are many things to do at the Ocean Front Villa including, swimming, snorkeling in search of coral reefs. While snorkeling, we found a gorgeous reef with four crawfish, we saw many StarFishs along our way, what a wonderful experience! It's a great place for sitting on the patio and reading a book, relaxing in the warmth of the sun or have a swim in the private pool and go to sleep in the hammock alongside of the Oceanfront Villa.

Our guests enjoy a swim/snorkel from our back patio.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We enjoyed just staying at the villa and swimming and relaxing probably the most for the adults but our children took a trip to snorkel with Stuart's Cove and they loved that. We also went to the pirate museum and Atlantis which were fun but probably not our favorites. I think the best place we ate was Compass Point. It was right on the ocean with a great view and the food was good. That is where we tried the Guava Duff which was enjoyable. I would like to send Chef Sweeting a thank you card for his welcome treats and send him a little tip for such a wonderful and friendly act. If you have his address please send it to me and I will mail that to him. Thanks again for being so responsive to us and your wonderful ideas.

Well needed vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This Villa was wonderful and peaceful. Away from traffic and crowds. Which is exactly what I was wanting. The ocean being a step away was awesome. We so enjoyed our stay. For Breakfast we enjoyed at the Villa while lunch and dinner we enjoyed out. The store was only a few min away and fairly expensive compared to home. Because the Villa is away from downtown area, I do recommend renting a car to get around, using a taxi can be costly. I must say it was a challenge getting use to driving on the left side of the street. But the locals helped out ALOT. I recommend using Kyla Ralston & Associates Ltd to rent a car from. The car was at the airport waiting for us upon arrival and was very reasonable.

Thank you Cathy. Your Villa was beautiful and we will be back.

Best vacation house ever!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This house provided a wonderful view of the water and great snorkeling. The best snorkeling spot is right off of the break wall at the back of the house. There is a Green Moray Eel living on the reef attached to the break wall. It was amazing to see, and a big surprise that we swam past it every day and saw it. If you swim farther out, there are a few small reefs with lots of fish. The house is very nice, although I can't say that I spent much time in it because the Bahamas are beautiful. If you stay here, you need to rent a car to get to the amazing places in the Bahamas. I highly recommend that you go on a boat trip/snorkeling expedition because the reefs are amazing. We also hired Chef Sweeting for two nights, and he was very nice and made Bahamian foods for us to try. He also made food and drinks for us for when we arrived, and that was a nice surprise. I highly recommend that you come to the Bahamas and stay in this wonderful house because it was the best spring break vacation that I've ever had :)

Fantastic home

  • 5 of 5

This home is great. We had such a great time. Carefree, clean, all amenities needed are there, and a grocery store 5 minutes away. Atlantis is only 15 minutes away. Plenty off room for 2 cars, and we had 9 people. We had a great vacation. It was so easy to rent. Thanks Cathy, we'll be back.

First stay at Ocean Paradise and definitely not our last!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came over to the Bahamas for our Nephew's wedding. He and his fiancé live in Nassau and found this lovely home for us. We couldn't have been more pleased. The location was perfect for what we wanted. Far enough away from the crowds and in a neighborhood that was quiet and safe. When we arrived at Ocean Paradise, we were pleasantly surprised by the house. It is even nicer than the pictures. It has a very open concept with lots of light and a beautiful view of the ocean, AND of the full moon rising if you're lucky enough to be there at the right time. On the days that the ocean was a bit to rough to swim in, we enjoyed the pristine pool and spacious patio with plenty of comfortable lounge chairs for everyone. The closest beach is less than a 5 minute walk away, and really pretty. If you choose to eat in, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. The barbecue grill was brand new and a breeze to use. All the air conditioners worked great and so did the wifi. The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathrooms well stocked with plenty of towels for all. There is a closet filled with all kinds of games in case you have a day that you want to stay in. The whole experience was wonderful. When we come back to visit, we will defiantly be booking Ocean Paradise for our stay. On an added note, on arrival the house was spotless, and Cathy was a more than accommodating owner as far as checking on us, making sure that we had all that we needed to make our vacation perfect.

Two 17-year old girls and two very happy adults!

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for my vacation standards: away from the over-indulgent resorts, easy access to multiple activities, well-maintained property, and unique in its value.

My wife, our 17-year old daughter, and her friend stayed 5 nights and absolutely enjoyed that coming home after a day’s activities meant we came home to a beautiful property with an awesome private patio and private pool right on the water. It was very quiet at night and in the morning because the home is 20-minutes away from downtown and Paradise Island.

Our activities included: a day at the beach on Paradise Island, snorkeling through Stuart Cove’s, scuba diving through Stuart Cove’s, a day at the Blue Lagoon with the Dolphin Swim for the girls (strongly recommend doing it through Blue Lagoon), and when my wife and I went scuba diving, the girls were 150% content having a sunny day on the patio and a secure house all to themselves.

We did rent a car through Avis as opposed to local just because I wanted to know the insurance I would buy was protected by their reputation. I wanted the flexibility of my own car, and seeing the busses and taxis, I made a good decision! Getting used to driving on the left side (if you’re used to driving on the right) was not a big deal at all; however, it’s not possible to get used to the way people drive there. It’s crazy but fun! Also, the maps provided are at best rough guides. There are new streets not on the maps and when driving to the SW end of the Island for our dive trips, I would guess 70% of the streets have no signs. If you drive, make sure you have exact directions ahead of time because you won’t be successful winging it. The home has a private place to park the car which is nice.

Super Value grocery was 5-minutes from the house and there’s a nicer grocer about 15-minutes from the house in the downtown area. We had breakfast every morning at home and also made dinner at home 2 nights. The propane grill was awesome and I used it for both dinners. Try dining out at Lukka Kairi one night - traditional Bahamian food with lots of flavor and great service.

I talked to several people staying in resort hell who were jaw dropped at what our private home had to offer. BTW – each one of them had troubles at their resort with failed reservations, room issues, etc., plus it cost them 2X a night without the benefits we had in a private home.

Book it! You will be very happy!!

Owner's Response: Hi Paul, Thankfully, the drive to Paradise Island and Downtown Nassau is only 15 minutes and on the same coastal road. It is an easy drive there and back to Ocean Paradise Villa. Also, the speed limit is 35 mph and everything moves slowly so that it's easy to find your way around the 7 X 21 mile island of Nassau and Paradise Island. We are happy that you and your family had an exciting, fabulous vacation and we look forward to your visit again next year!

Winter Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Ocean Paradise for our winter get away this February. The villa is located in Yamacraw Hills on the eastern side of the island on the water. The house is beautiful, well appointed and very clean. It was off the beaten path and quiet, which was what we were looking for! The area is very safe to walk in the morning and evening. The grocery store is about 5 minutes drive from the house. Upon arrival to the island Cathy the owner arranged Chef Sweeting to greet us with outstanding appetizers and Bahama Mama's and reviewed how everything worked in the house. Enjoyed going to beaches, Atlantis and Bone Fishing with Simon. We also loved just hanging out on the beautiful patio and enjoying the Sting Rays passing by the villa every day. Every day naps in the hammocks on the patio were outstanding. A car is strongly recommended as well as Chef Sweeting services. Chef let us create our menu for the month, he is an exceptional cook and a really tremendous person as well. Our daughters joined us for a week on the island. They were interested in dining out the days we did not have Chefs services. We had some really good meals at Poop Deck, Luciano, starfire steak house but if you want to drop a few dollars and get one of the best meals you will have in a restaurant go to the Bahamian Club.

'Special Offer' Ferry Boat Ride from Paradise Island to downtown Bay Street where the Straw Market is located. To receive this 'Special Offer' we have a minimum stay of seven nights and this offer is for four adults. Please see photos and request 'Special Offer'when emailing us.

There is a Five Star, world famous resort called Atlantis, located on the very popular Paradise Island. Visit the restaurants and shops at Marina Village, tennis, swim with the dolphins or participate in various tourist sea excursions. Tourists can buy a day pass for $135 per adult and $80 per child and be able to enjoy all of its facilities including the Water Theme Park, slides, underwater aquariums and gorgeous beaches.

A visit to Blue Lagoon Island is highly recommended where you can pat the Sea Lions and swim with the Dolphins.Guests can spend a whole or half day on the beach on this excursion.

Please find below 12 suggestions for 'Things To Do In Nassau' as follows:

1. The Straw Market - Start your vacation at Nassau's Straw Market. It's in the middle of town, and it's very popular with visitors.

2. Bay Street - If you're looking for bargains on designer clothing and other luxury items, you'll be delighted with the duty-free prices in Nassau's prime shopping district. Dance your way from store to store, with music from the steel drums at the nearby Straw Market

3. The Pirates Museum for families with kids seem to really enjoy this adventure.

4. Have your wedding or anniversary celebration at one of our gorgeous beaches or one of our Oldest Churches called Christ Church Cathedral in downtown where Prince Harry recently visited.

5. Ardastra Gardens - One mile west of downtown Nassau, you'll find one of the area's most enduring tourist attractions. A conservation center run by people who consider the animals--especially the flamingos--their companions, not pets. The Gardens' must-see attraction is their world-famous Marching Flamingo show which takes place three times daily. As their guide shouts commands, 30 or more flamingos perform in unison. No visit to Nassau is complete without a visit to this quirky site.

6. Fort Charlotte - While you're at Ardastra Gardens, visit nearby Fort Charlotte, the largest and most interesting of Nassau's three colonial forts. It features a waterless moat, a drawbridge, underground passages and even a dungeon. Be sure to look for graffiti etched in the walls by soldiers who were stationed here. Although this 18th-century fort isn't especially beautiful, you'll be glad that you brought your camera for the picture perfect views of Nassau Harbor. Admission to the fort is free, as are the regular guided tours .

7. Queen's Staircase - While you're touring the town, be sure to climb the Queen's Staircase. With one step for each year of Queen Victoria's life, the top of this limestone staircase offers one of the best views of the area. Considered one of the world's top ten outdoor staircases, it's also a short walk from the top to Fort Fincastle, built in 1793. This is another spectacular lookout to capture Nassau's magnificent landscapes in photos.

8. Junkanoo - If you're in Nassau in December, get ready to party at the annual Junkanoo festival.

9. Underwater splendor - Snorkeling is one of the many ways to enjoy the crystal clear waters that are just outside your door in Nassau. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, you can rent snorkeling and diving equipment, take lessons, go on a guided underwater tour, or set out on your own.

If you're not a swimmer, you can still see the underwater landscapes that make Nassau so famous. Glass-bottom boats and a floating underwater observatory are just a few ways for you to see the many exotic fish and fabulous coral reefs in Nassau's tranquil turquoise waters.

10. Shipwreck Cruises - For the ultimate adventure, hop a boat and sail to a deserted island for lunch, snorkeling, and exploring. Several companies offer exciting planned adventures for adults as well as families, with different destinations and themes. Whether you're interested in a leisurely cruise or a high-speed ride on a world-class powerboat, you'll find a wide range of water adventures waiting for you in Nassau.

11. Paradise Island - Cross the bridge or take a water taxi to Paradise for an unforgettable adventure.

12. Versailles Gardens and Cloisters - These are part of the Ocean Club resort on Paradise Island, and are well worth seeing.

The Bahama Islands are magnificent, and Nassau is their crown jewel. Whether you come here for the many attractions or simply to relax at our Oceanfront Villa.
