Overview

About the property

On a plot of 10ha in a unique location, surrounded by the sea and pine forests and perfectly quiet, there are two holiday houses, House Pelagos and House Bougainvillea.

The house Bougainvillea has 40m2 and is a large room with sleeping accommodation, bathroom with toilet and an open kitchen (fridge and cooking facilities).

The surrounding area is planted with fruit trees and lawns and as a central point a saltwater swimming pool and a barbecue for sharing with Pelagos house.

The distance to the private beach is 150m and the difference in height of 75m facilitates steps when going down. It is a small private beach that belongs to the property and is not accessible from the outside (only accessible by boat). Since our property at the end of a non-paved road is located (700m from the asphalt road), a 4x4 drive is essential, the prices, according to the local car rental, are between 40-45 € per day and a little driving experience you should already to have. The nearest supermarket is around 15min. away and Skyros town in about 25min. ereichbar. Down in the bay of Pefkos (7min) is probably by far the best tavern of Skyros, because here you can still look into the pots and select the fish, which is freshly delivered in the morning by local fishermen.

Skyros -the island

Skyros is an island whose history stretches far into mythological times, where first signs and hints are found.

Theseus, Lykomidis, Axill, and Neoptolemos are mythological figures inextricably linked to the history of the island.

The Neolithic period, the classical period, the Roman and subsequently the Ottoman rule up to the piratic invasions, all this shaped the island, a habitat with archaic roots that still live on in the traditional customs and traditions.

In the two museums of the island, the Folklore and Archaeological Museum, there are many documents and monuments of this important past.

Skyros is the largest island of the island complex of the northern Sporades and is characterized by a unique scenic feature. The northern part of the island is rich in dense pine forests and agricultural land, in the south there is a pastoral landscape with dense shrub vegetation, which offers goats and sheep as well as the unique Skyrian pony a retreat of rare beauty.

The most picturesque point of the island is undoubtedly the Chora, the main town of the island, with its houses arranged like an amphitheater, nestling against a 179m high rock. On the top of the rock is the old castle, from where there is a unique view over the wide blue Aegean Sea. Noteworthy is the design of the castle, as it is accessible only from one side, all other 3 sides fall steeply towards the sea, thus providing a natural fortification against enemy attacks.

Next to the castle is the monastery of St. George, who is the patron saint of the island and from where offers a unique view for the visitors.

Of all the beaches on the island, some have their own aesthetic beauties. On the north side it is the beach of Atsitsa, Agalipa, which is accessible only by boat, Agios Petros, Gyrismata and Pefkos. The south side is waiting with the long beach of Kalamitsa and Kolymbada.

The crystal clear waters, the clean and translucent seabed combined with the beauty of the landscape, seduce the visitor to feel at one with the splendor of the creation that unfolds before him.

On a plot of 10ha in a unique location, surrounded by the sea and pine forests and perfectly quiet, there are 2 guest houses and a saltwater pool for common use. The house Bougainvillea with the light blue shutters offers space for 2 people, however, the accommodation of a child is possible. For this we would provide an extra bed. It has 40m2 and is a large room with a double bed, bathroom with toilet, an open kitchen (fridge and cooking facilities available) and a nice terrace. The property is planted with fruit trees, olive trees, vegetable beds and lawns. As a central point there is a saltwater swimming pool (50m2) and a barbecue for communal use with Pelagos house. The distance to the private beach is 150m and the difference in height of 65m facilitates steps when going down. A beautiful quiet, picturesque, get away from it all place

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place. A quiet, picturesque, get away from it all place with a stunning view of Pefkos Bay and the surrounding islands.

We occupied both villas which are well equipped, clean and comfortable, with air con.

The salt water swimming pool is a big plus on the hot summer days. Though most days there is a cooling breeze.

Sitting out in the evening is pleasant as there seemed to be very few if any mosquitoes. A highlight for us was star gazing, seeing the Milky Way very clearly and numerous shooting stars.

Skyros itself is an island that seems to have avoided the mass tourism of many Greek Islands, probably due to the fact that there are only flights via Athens and so it retains character and beauty.

Thank you to Costa and Viola for being excellent villa owners. They live discreetly in the grounds and so you have to make an effort to find them. But find them you should as they are very helpful, especially for places to eat and see. One of our favourite eating places was the souvlaki cafe in Linaria harbour. Teaming with locals, get there early in the height of the season, otherwise you won't get a table. For ice cream, the shop, where they make it, behind the supermarket, outside the Hora, is the best.

We look forward to going back.

Une très belle adresse ...

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We were in this little piece of heaven with our little daughter and it was just perfect. The view from the terrace takes your breath away, we just wanted to stay there for ever! The house is build in the middle of nature, perfekt to relax and find yourself. Waking up in the morning and doing yoga by the pool enjoying the view of the endless ocean was priceless! The loving hosts offered us vegetables from their own garden and our daughter just loved their Zucchinis.

We did not rent a 4x4 car and had no problems, but we both, my husband and I have lots of experience driving on dirt roads. For inexperienced drivers I would recommend to rent a 4x4. Although we did not want to leave the house, we decided to explore the island and we were not disappointed (Viola and Kostas, our super cool hosts, gave us amazing insider tips). The food, the landscaping, the goats :)…. Everything just wonderful!

We are going back, no doubt about it.

Viola, Kostas and Platon: Thank you so much for sharing this amazing place with us, you are amazing!

Traumhafter Urlaub mit atemberaubender Aussicht

  • 5 of 5
