Comfy on the quiet side of MDI
Joan's little cottage was perfect for our family of 4 to spend a few nights near Acadia NP. It was very clean and the beds were comfy; the kitchen was very well stocked (she even provided coffee for us!), and there were even laundry supplies on hand. From the cottage we could look out over the harbor, walk down to the waterfront restaurant the Seafood Ketch, walk to the ferry station where we took a nice ferry ride over to Frenchboro and back just to get on the water and see the scenery, and we were a short drive from some nice park trails. We also could catch the public bus into the park and Bar Harbor at the ferry station, but we found that driving to the MDI High School and catching the shuttle into Bar Harbor from there was more time efficient. This is a great option to avoid having to drive and park in Bar Harbor, which was very crowded for 4th of July week. We LOVED Acadia, MDI, and this quaint, cozy little cottage. We would love to return for another visit and would stay here again without hesitation!
LORI AND FAMILY A VERY NICE COUPLE FROM KY AND KIDS WHEN THEY LEFT THEY LOOKED VERY HAPPY AND TOLD ME THE PLACES THEY WENT,CLEANED UP VERY WELL HOPE THEY CAN COME BACK. JOAN
Beautiful setting, close to water.
We had a wonderful time. The lights were on even though it was late when we arrived. Beautiful setting. Heater warmed everything up very quickly. Very happy with this rental.
Nice property on the quiet side of Acadia
Had a nice stay in Bass Harbor. Joan greeted when we arrived. Place is okay with a nice, fully stocked kitchen. In need of a little TLC as a bit of paint is peeling from ceiling in bathroom and several lightbulbs out. Futon in living room was not as comfy as a couch, but okay. In the early morning could hear the drone of the lobster boats going out, but definitely wasn’t loud. We did 1 day on the Bar Harbor side and that was plenty for us. That’s nearly 45 minutes away. I went on several challenging hikes within 15 minutes. If outdoors is what you want this is good place. Numerous restaurants within 15 minutes. Seafood Ketch 1 block away. We also enjoyed Beals lobster Pier and Upper Deck.
A great place!
Quiet place with a nice view! Everything you need is there. We enjoyed our stay, and have the chance to see beautiful sunset, and deers!
Can't say enough about how nice it is
The place was very clean and comfortable with every thing anyone would need to use.
There was a beautiful view of the harbor with sunset, The owner was onsite, not intrusive, but very informative of the history since she has lived her whole life in the area.
THREE GIRLS FROM TEXAS THEY WERE ALOT OF FUN AND VERY NICE CLEANED UP VERY WELL HOPE THEY CAN COME BACK.
Great setting, with amazing sunset. Clean and perfect stay. Easy Acadia entry, and the light house was a short drive. Across the bay is a Lobster Pound, which was the best food in the area. My favorite stay of the summer. Loved the place!
The quiet side of Mount Desert Island .Overlooking the working harbor of Bass Harbor and Bernard. Watch the lobster men with there catch. Watch the seals come up to wharf and eat the bait.
