About Cleve Brown

My wife and I live in Gainesville, GA (a little over an hour's drive). We were approaching retirement when we bought this cabin. We are both retired (elementary teacher and pharmacist), and LOVE spending time at our second home. We know you will love it, too!!

Cleve Brown purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Cleve Brown chose Suches

We chose the Suches area to purchase our cabin because it is close enough to our home so that we can use the property, but it is remote enough to 'get away from it all'. This area also has all of the things that we enjoy such as hiking, kayaking, and trout fishing to name a few. We are also close enough (30 minutes) to golf, live theater, stores, movies, etc.

What makes this cabin unique

We love spending time in the mountains! Our property has 400 feet on the Toccoa River that our guests can use to catch trophy sized trout or just sit on the deck and watch the water flow by and relax. Excellent tubing and kayaking is right at the back door. Great hiking to numerous waterfalls, The Benton Makaye Trail and The Appalachian Trail are close by. We also enjoy viewing the wildlife! Deer and turkeys can sometimes be seen strolling the field in front of the house. Of course viewing the different colors of the mountain views is spectacular! Our cabin is large enough to accommodate our growing family, but priced so that it would make a great romantic get-away for a couple. We know you will love this area as much as we do.

Relaxation on the Toccoa!!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to this cabin and we enjoyed it once again! We love the quiet location, especially the back porch listening to the river. Make sure to take advantage of the tubes they provide to take a trip down the Toccoa.

The owners are always available and very helpful if anything does arise. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was absolutely perfect! Great location and breathtaking views!! We enjoyed spending time relaxing, fishing and exploring the many trails that are super close! We woke up on our 2nd day to snow showers which was exciting for our son who has never seen snow at all! Thank you Brown family for sharing your home with our family!

Just about perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The home was incredibly comfortable, clean and fully stocked - it felt like home each time we walked through the door. Our stay spanned 2 winter months, apparently one of the coldest they'd had in quite some time in N Ga. We'd lived a number of years in middle TN, so knew what to expect; we now live in NE Ohio and it was a great winter break for us. By late Feb we loved being outside in the 60 degree temps and beautiful sunshine. We had snow only once on the 4th day of our stay in early January - the house was nice and cozy, with beautiful views from the family room so we didn't mind at all. Warmed up nicely through the day - we'd definitely do this again!

The Browns are most thoughtful hosts, supplying valuable information about the area, restaurants and local activities. A welcome package greets you as you enter, with just about all the information you might need about their beautiful home, local shopping and the best places to dine.

My husband is an avid fly fisherman, and found challenging waters just a few feet from the back porch - caught the largest rainbow he'd ever had on his line! When rains made the Toccoa a bit too high to wade, he went off to one of the nearby mountain streams and had a blast. He was able to fish most days at a variety of spots within 20 minutes of the cabin, would come back in the afternoon and catch world class trout just outside the back door.

Can't recommend the Browns and their beautiful cabin highly enough. This is the place you want to stay when you come to NE Georgia!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for staying with us and such a nice review. The winter months in north Georgia can be very cold and snowy, or warm and sunny---and can change quickly. Neither will last for too long. This year has been a bit cooler than normal, but not too bad. I'm sure the weather here is a welcome change from the Ohio winters! The fishing is great year 'round and the trout are a blast to catch right out the back door. I'm glad y'all had opportunities to explore the surrounding area for all that there is to do in the mountains. Thanks again for staying with us and would love to have you back for another long term rental in the future!
