About Donna Leathers-Sonnenberg
My husband, Hans bought the property as a young immigrant from Germany. It was just a shell at the time. He worked on it and little by little turned it into a beautiful home. He raised his daughter here and we were married years later. I love this area. I grew up in the suburbs and never thought I would live in a city, but I just love it here. It's so convenient. We can go out for a meal and have a few drinks and never worry about driving. I love all the arts and culture. In general we just have everything at out finger tips. I could never think of moving to the burbs again.
Donna Leathers-Sonnenberg purchased this Apartment in 1975
Why Donna Leathers-Sonnenberg chose South Philadelphia
Because it's in a great location. It's in a quiet neighborhood away from all the noise and hubbub of center city, but close enough to walk there when I get the urge. I love the large garden area behind the house. In the summer months I have my morning coffee out there every day.
What makes this Apartment unique
Our garden of course! It is beautiful with a winding path a "flower hill" and a greenhouse.

Great, cozy place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at Hans and Donna’s apartment. They were great, accommodating hosts and the apartment was clean, cozy and inviting. We also enjoyed the garden in the back.
You were great guests and we enjoyed having you. Glad that you liked the garden. We felt so bad that your stay was so rainy. Hope you come back for your next stay in Philly. Donna and Hans
I spent three days in Philly and the studio is just lovely. Donna and Hans are so kind! It was raining pretty hard the day I arrived, and Hans and Donna were waiting for me with an umbrella in hand! The studio is beautiful, comfortable and charming. The garden is gorgeous, and it's a great place to enjoy your coffee in the morning. I had my car, so I switched the parking spot with Hans. My car sat there the entire three days because I walked everywhere. Perfect stay!
You were a delightful guest to host. So full of life and vitality. We hope to see you again and would love to sit in the yard with you and chat. Thanks again for choosing to stay with us.
Great place to stay. .
Had everything I needed. Nice and quiet. Bed was very comfortable. Hans and Donna were great hosts. Would definitely recommend.
Just what I expected
Clean and Cozy apartment. Good location close to transportation, Italian market and grocery store. Donna and Hans were very helpful and gracious hosts. The garden was an added bonus.
I would return.
Place was cozy and clean. Our hosts were very accommodating. A great stay in Philly.
Place was cozy but well equipped with everything we needed. Within walking distance of the Italian Market.
Like house sitting for a friend
This place was perfect, great and safe location! I felt like I was staying at a friend’s place and felt very comfortable. They were very accommodating even holding a parking spot for me until I got there. That is the only thing that makes it tough, parking is horrendous mainly because you are right by the Italian market. (Did I mention it’s a great location?) If you can leave your car parked and walk or take public transportion it is ideal. Would definitely stay again.
Thanks Nicky. We’d love to have you back. You’re always welcome.
