This beautiful, elegantly and very sympathetically refurbished 1st Floor Apartment, offers everything you could want to make your stay in Edinburgh just perfect. The apartment still has original Georgian fireplaces and beautiful corniceing all shown off perfectly by the light streaming through the large Georgian windows.
There is a spacious hall - off which is
: the kitchen/dining which is bright and sunny and well equipped. Off the kitchen is a fully equipped utility room with washing machine, drier and freezer.
: a large double bedroom.
: a lounge with large comfortable leather couch and leather chairs. There is also a large flat screened TV with DVD player.
: Bathroom with bath/shower.
: Twin bedded room with en suite shower.
Due to Cumberland Street being relatively narrow, it is very quiet with very little traffic making it the perfect location for resting after a hectic day in the city.
My husband and I were quite comfortable in this flat after a long transit. Nicely decorated and with all amenities you could want. It was certainly well situated for walking many notable places in Edinburgh . Lots of terrific restaurants, pubs nearby.
Owner Di is a very personable, helpful and accommodating owner. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
What a great property and convenient location to explore Edinburgh. I liked the fact that we could walk (or bus) for a few blocks and be on Princes St. Same for the Castle a short bus ride up the hill and there you are near the Royal Mile and Castle. The property was spotless, and the photos do not truly show how beautiful this apartment is. The kitchen was lovely to cook in and the bedrooms large and very comfortable. Can't say enough good things about the owner and her responsiveness. It has everything location, quiet side street, and it's closeness to the little shops and market at Stockbridge can't be beat.
We are all completely in love with Edinburgh and Di's apartment is part of the magic. The apartment itself is gorgeous and the photos don't even do it justice. It is perfectly set up for our family of four, the kitchen is well stocked with everything thought of. The buses are a great way to get around if the walk up the hill is not for you (or if the kids have had enough) and Di's folder of tips was the icing on the cake. And last but not least it was lovely and warm even for we not so hardy Australians who aren't used to the Scottish autumn!

This is a wonderful apartment in a great central location . It is clean , beautifully decorated and right in the City centre. Everything about it is as you read in the best reviews we had a great time
Having read such glowing reviews, I expected this apartment could not possibly be as wonderful as described or as beautiful as it looks in the photos. I was wrong - it was even nicer than I expected! My family of four loved everything about the apartment. It is spacious, bright, and very comfortable - also very quiet, even when we had the windows open. We heard almost no noise from the street and no noise from neighboring flats. It was immaculate when we arrived and very well equipped.
The location was ideal - easy to walk all around central Edinburgh even for my 8-year-old (we did appreciate that it was a downhill walk from the center of town on the way home each evening!) It was an easy cab ride from the train station (fare was about 8.50, about a 5-minute ride) and to the airport (fare about 21 pounds and took about 20 minutes).
Di was very easy to work with and always quick to respond to our questions. She provided a helpful notebook of information about the flat as well as suggestions for restaurants, tours, and activities.
We were sorry to leave and if we are in Edinburgh again, we will not hesitate to stay at this flat once again!
Trip got off to a rough start when airline lost our luggage. But the owner Di was able to help get the bags delivered to her wonderful flat without interrupting our vacation.
The flat is spacious and located in a very nice part of Edinburgh. It's conveniently located to all the attractions yet in a quiet and upscale part of town. We enjoyed making many of our meals in the large well equipped kitchen.
Renters should be aware that the "dryer" listed on the VRBO site is actually a large dryer rack. Nevertheless, the rack worked extremely well and our clothes dried overnight with no problems.
One suggestion for international travelers is to have their phones setup for service in the UK as there is not a phone in the flat. Phone service would have simplified the delivery of our lost luggage without having to involve the owner. Thankfully, Di was quick to respond to our emails and contacted the airline on our behalf. Cumberland Street is in the heart of Edinburgh's beautiful Georgian New Town. Due to the wonderful architecture in this area it has been declared a World Heritage Site! The apartment is also surrounded by superb antique shops, art galleries and many other specialist shops, as well as many, many bars and restaurants ranging from traditional to ultra chic.
All this, and you are only a brief 10 minute walk from the very 'up market' George Street followed by Princes Street, both offering everything a shopper could desire as well as many more bars and restaurants. A further fascinating 10 - 15 min walk will take you to the world famous Royal Mile in the Old Town and of course, Edinburgh Castle.
In the apartment, there is a folder which is full of information on things to do, places to see and places to eat and drink. You will NEVER be bored.
Other Activities: Stockbridge is a 5 min walk where there is a superb street market every Sunday which mainly offers delicious foods. Stockbridge also has superb specialist shops offering jewellery, arts and crafts, interior design, flower shops etc - lots of charity shops too if you like a rummage. Also, of course, more bars and restaurants to choose from.
