Secluded Getaway in Private Neighborhood
Three Night Special. Book for three consecutive nights and save $60. The Special is quite popular and I fill up quickly so please make your plans early.
I know that vacations can be stressful, and sometimes you just want to take a break between all the exciting options Alaska offers. This is the most frequent comment I get from my guests, that they appreciate the privacy and tranquility staying in my place offers. It is moments from all the action, (15 minutes to the park) and yet exclusive. I only have this one rental on my 5 acres.
We have had a lot of fun. David and I put so much love and work into this place that I have enjoyed sharing it. The artwork (and there is a lot) - is part of my private collection, things I have bought over the 30+ years I have been in Alaska.
Please look at the calendar before contacting me. I only have the one rental and if any of the available dates can work for you, do let me know!
Denali Park Place is a 900sf rental over our art studio/garage.
Placed at the back of our 5 acre parcel of land, the setting is quite peaceful and private – although the sound of sled dogs howling isn't unusual. Caribou, moose, snow shoe hare, and perhaps even a grizzly bear might be sighted from the array of windows. Denali National Park is only 15 minutes away.
The view out of any of the windows frames beautiful mountains, and the granite breakfast bar is a perfect place to write postcards while enjoying the scenery. There is plenty of room to lounge in the large living room with two couches offering wonderful views and lots of natural light.
Just a few minutes away (literally), Denali National Park offers visitors a variety of tours. The Visitors Center and the Murie Science and Learning Center are a couple of my favorite local places to go. The displays are great, as are the free movies and lectures, and I especially like sitting in the big chairs in front of the 'wood' stove and reading. This is the kind of activity you miss if your visit is rushed - and yet will be most memorable if you take the time to do it!
In addition to the park and visitors center, there are excellent restaurants, tours, and gift shops located near by.
Should you want to spend some time lounging at home, there's a stereo system and a DVD player with 52' television.
You will need your own transportation to visit the area.

RAVEN ABOUT ALASKA (my business name, because it is what I do!)
David and I met in 1983 while commercial fishing on Kodiak Island. We bought our first fishing operation a couple years later and found remote property in 1989. While Kodiak's Uganik Bay is still home, after commercially fishing for 24 years I decided to try something else. One of my current jobs is as a tour guide in Denali National Park. David is still fishing for salmon and halibut on Kodiak Island so we commute between two of the most beautiful places in the world. I am in love with Alaska, heart and soul. The artwork and books in my house and the Denali Park Place are part of my personal collection of favorites. If you like history just ask me about the Alaskan flag in the hall - came from the person who designed it... or the autographed book by the very first person to lead a successful climb up Mount McKinley in 1914! Sometimes I think the only reason I want to provide a vacation rental is to show off this place I love so dearly... Alaska.
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
In 1997 we went on a vacation that changed our lives. Living in Kodiak, we thought it would be a cool winter vacation to go to Nome to see the finish of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. I became obsessed. Poor David! First I worked as a volunteer with the Iditarod, then I got a job training racing huskies, and then I wanted land near the huskies I trained. In 2002 I did the 1049 mile race across Alaska, finishing the Iditarod in 14 days with a wonderful team of dogs. My book, 'Running with Champions: A Midlife Journey on the Iditarod Trail', has been very successful and once again changed my life's direction (and David's!). We bought land in the interior of Alaska and now call both Kodiak and Denali home.
If you would like total privacy after your day in the park - or a recovery period during a demanding vacation - this Getaway will delight you.
The community of Denali borders Denali National Park and Preserve. Minutes away from this secluded property are all the amenities of Denali National Park - tours, restaurants, hiking, shopping, wildlife viewing. There is something for everybody. My dogs were from a winning Iditarod team, so if you are interested in getting to know some retired champions, they will be more than willing to accommodate you! This really is a pleasant place. Become a neighbor and see for yourself...
I also supply some of my Heirloom Sourdough Starter so you can make yourself some delicious hotcakes from real Alaskan sourdough! It's easy - you'll love it! I consider myself a sourdough genealogist (!) because I am tracking the history and writing a book on this particular heirloom sourdough. Read about it on one of my sites - the history is fantastic and the taste is even better!
I named my business Raven About Alaska because it is what I always seem to be doing, and this summer has been great so far! Everyone loves the place and I already have a list of new friends to visit when I go south next winter. Very fun and I love that since most people are staying three days I get to visit alittle!
The homeowner has taken great care and pride in providing a wonderful place to stay while visiting Denali. Set in a country neighborhood, we had plenty of privacy, gorgeous views, and could take nature walks right from our door or eat at the picnic table. The home is large with comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen, and large bathroom. A huge benefit was the new large washer and dryer which allowed us to catch up on laundry. Lovely artwork and decor. Huge TV to watch your DVDs. No TV reception, but wi-fi available. 10 minute drive to Denali Park entrance and town. Recommend stocking up on groceries before getting here because store in town is very limited and expensive and bring some DVDs. Great, super quiet location away from the hoards of people in town. Highly recommend.
Always have an imagined vision of what we will be renting. This place exceeded that image. Not only was the place spotless, the attention to detail is impressive. The dogs were a joy and Lisa is a very interesting host. She is very informative and generous. She is one special lady. The location is great for Denali National Park, where we spent the majority of our time. Being on the second floor in this apartment gave you stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The added touch of the sour dough starter is amazing. Who could have imagined that? Can't forget to mention, that because of her tip, we joined the 30% club in seeing Mt. McKinley (Denali). We would have willing spent more time in this location so highly recommend it without hesitation.
We thoroughly enjoyed Denali Place. It was great to meet Lisa and we really enjoyed visiting with her. Great to meet Bronte and Vincent, give them a treat and we even took Bronte for a walk around the property. Really, she led us around on that, our first day. Denali Place was one week of our 3 week 50th anniversary trip to Alaska. We visited the Park every chance we had, saw Denali in all it's beauty, saw full list of Park animals including black wolf. A great location and wonderful hostess/landlord. Thank You Lisa, from your "FL hippies" , we'll never forget you and our stay.
Extremely well-equipped and nicely designed apartment that suits four people ... a family or close friends. One bedroom and then a comfortable foldout couch in the living room. Great views. About 10 miles from Denali Park entrance. One mile from 229 Parks, the top restaurant in Alaska. Fine bathroom with tub, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, friendly dogs, friendly and conscientious owner.
Peaceful, beautiful, we never met the hostess, but could feel her generous, peaceful spirit in this home. Wish we could have stayed much longer to try the sour dough pancakes, and hike the area. My friend said the pull out sofa was very comfortable. We bought all the sour dough starter spoons, great gifts. Would have bought Lisa's book but wasn't available, will look online. Thank you so much for hosting us.
All possible tours listed in the Denali Park area are easily accessible. All-terrain vehicle tours, sled dog kennels, whitewater rafting, covered wagon dinners, dinner theaters, lectures, movies, etc
