The cottage has ample living space with 2 over-sized bedrooms, connecting handicapped bathroom, and family room/kitchen on the first floor, 2 bedrooms, full bath on the second floor. A note from your hosts: If you are looking for a relaxing, unstructured vacation where the people are honest and friendly, the accommodations are clean and comfortable, and it doesn't cost a small fortune to stay, this is one of the few.

We are your best value in the Moosehead Lake Region. Check our rates compared to others in the region; our rates are all inclusive except for Maine's 9% lodging tax which we must collect for the state. We do not charge extra fees for pets, added people up to occupancy limit, use of kayaks/canoes, linens, or cleaning.

Hope to see you here! Pat and Dave

About Richard Deslongchamps

Here at Moosetracks we try to do only one thing and do that well: We provide our guests with comfortable, clean, reasonably priced vacation cottages in a serene pond-side setting. Our guests enjoy spacious fully equipped rustically modern cottages surrounded by acres of private woodlands, wildlife habitat and mountain scenery. All this and only a few minutes from Greenville and all the recreational activities the area has to offer.

Why Richard Deslongchamps chose Moosehead Lake

Small towns are unique in that everyone knows everyone and everyone looks out for everyone else. There was a natural gravitation towards Greenville for that reason. Here we know our neighbors, people wave at each other when passing on the road.

What makes this cottage unique

It was luxury starting with a blank sheet of paper. Here we could raise the bar. We could design cottages to take advantage of the unique setting and terrain. We had 40 acres and a half mile of shoreline to play with.

Sunrise, our third cottage, finished in the spring of 2007, was designed to be a handicapped friendly vacation rental retreat from the start. It was built in the 1930’s craftsman style, yet has all of the modern conveniences one expects, including central heating, full baths and fully equipped kitchen. Everything we did in this cottage was with wheelchair accessibility in mind. Not only can a handicapped person live in this cottage independently but others will find it quite functional themselves. Furnishing a “North Woods” cabin required a combination of campy and rustic cedar furniture. Decorations in and around the cottage are definitely in a sunny motif.

The grounds combine existing native trees with open space and perennial gardens tended to by Pat. An ADA compliant ramp winds down thru the woods to a private dock just for this cottage. The sighting of this cottage, tucked in behind some rock ledges, gives one a feeling of total privacy.

The real uniqueness of this property is that over 90% of our ponds shoreline can never be developed thanks to conservation minded land owners. These same landowners allow us to maintain marked trails thru the woods for hiking, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing. Although we are only 6 miles from town the feeling of the pond and woods along with the wildlife makes one think you are much more remote.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Pat and Dave,

Thank you so much for the lovely cottage to rent. We had a wonderfully relaxing week here on Prong Pond. We thoroughly enjoyed the canoeing and kayaking on the pond and the girls enjoyed some swims. We had great fun on a white water rafting trip down the Kennebec River with Northeast Guide Service. We loved all the plantings, fauna and wildlife. Going to sleep to loon calls on the first night was magical. We enjoyed your dog Cera's company, stuffed animals beware! She loved our lab Lilly's flat rabbit. We also enjoyed our neighbors and met up at the fire pit for smores twice, nice company. Thanks again for a wonderful trip. Hope to see you again. The Guarnaccia Family Carlisle, MA

A beautiful and tranquil place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were up in the area for our son’s wedding and needed a place large enough for 8 people to get ready! This place fit the bill perfectly. Only 2 small complaints, very strong sulfer type smell in water, and mirrors, while greatly thought out for wheelchair accessible bathroom, I wish the mirror would’ve extended up farther for people that are not handicapped. Absolutely wonderful accommodations for handicapped people though, much thought, time and effort put into making it accessible for handicapped people, even the dock down to the water! Wonderfully done!

Looking forward to seeing our family pictures photographer took before the ceremony down on the dock.

Would highly recommend this home

Quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed there with three other couples. We had a great time touring the Greenville area, fishing in the pond and visiting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunrise!

A Heavy Dose Of Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Be prepared for a major dose of serenity, peacefulness and complete silence. "Sunrise" is appropriately named for the amazing sunrises over the mountain. The pond is beautiful, too.

I would say the pictures of the cottage do it no justice. It's way more beautiful, clean and roomy. I think the photos of the house should show the back porch. I was not aware it even existed. A great place to congregate.

If you are looking for wildlife, look no further. The moose are everywhere.

Our week long stay included a trip to Mount Katahdin - long crazy, bumpy dirt road, but worth the trip. About 55 miles. Another trip to Acadia, about 2 1/2 hours for lobsters and a spin around the loop. Cooked lobsters back at the cottage, with beer, wine and lots of laughs.

Greenville is a pleasant little town with good resturants and activities for everyone. Come check out "Sunrise". Maine did not disappoint.

My family and I are from Cape Cod. We will go back again soon.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! I do have to update the pictures as we finished the addition a day before the first guest arrived this year. It is so nice that you took full advantage of the beautiful area and the crazy dirt road to Mount Katahdin didn't slow you down. Please come back and visit us again. Sincerely Richard and Beth Deslongchamps

Beautiful Lakefront Home, wonderful dock

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this lakefront home. Everything is as described and leaves nothing to be desired. I would really recommend this rental to anyone wishing to explore the area around Greenville and Moosehead Lake. A special bonus was the dock and the complimentary use of canoes. Pat and David were very helpful. Thanks again for sharing your vacation rental

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review. We would be remiss if we didn't encourage our guests to explore the 11 miles of pristine shore frontage ,10 miles of which can never be built on, around this spectacular mountain pond. As we expand our fleet of complimentary canoes we have added 1 and 2-up kayaks at each cottage for the enjoyment of the whole family. You will also see us on the pond quite often exploring, watching for wildlife, and taking in the sunsets as well. Pat and Dave

Beautiful, cozy and wheelchair accessible too!

  • 5 of 5

This is truly a home away from home, and beautiful and cozy as well. Pat and Dave are wonderful hosts and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay there. It is really hard to find nice accommodations for my husband who is in a wheelchair, so it was especially nice that it was so easy for him to get around, even had a ramp so he could get to the dock! Also, close to town, so fishing and dining were close by and the shops in Greenville were so cute. We enjoyed our stay there so much we are talking about when we can get up there again. I would recommend this cottage to everyone I know!

Owner's Response: Diane, Thank you for your review. That we were able to accommodate you and your husband easily is why we built this lovely cottage. I read your guest book comments as well, you both had a busy time while here, fishing and relaxing. I'm always in awe of the very professional services our "Maine Guides" provide that you experienced first hand. Dave

As you leave the endless traffic lights, strip malls and Wal-Marts behind, you will travel thru lightly populated rural Maine to Greenville. Once here you are now in a small outpost town at the edge of the 'Great North Woods'. It is different here; small shops, plaid flannel shirt diners and a couple of wilderness outfitters. Around you are Maine's largest lakes and numerous smaller ponds along with the headwaters of several notable rivers including the Allagash. Mt. Katahdin, just to our north, anchors the northern end of the Appalachian Mtn. chain. Surrounding you are several million acres of working forests, home to the 'American Loggers'. The only traffic jams here are for moose sightings. And this is a recreational wonderland; canoeing/kayaking, white water rafting, hiking, climbing, ATV and snowmobile trails, not to mention fishing, hunting and wildlife viewing. We will refer you to our website for detailed turn by turn directions to Sunrise Cottage when needed.

Other Activities: snowmobiling, xc skiing, snowshoeing, white water rafting, wildlife watching
