Welcome to our mews house, a beautiful, recently totally refurbished, architect designed family home in Notting Hill . This is very much a loved home full of character and interesting artifacts from around the world and is light, airy, warm and comfortable. The house has very high ceilings (uncommon for a mews house) ,a newly refurbished property over three floors (2640 square feet) with all the facilities one could wish for.

The house is in a safe and quiet conservation area in a private, gated, cobbled mews, (a mews is where the horses and carts used to be kept for the very large town houses in Holland Park) a convenient seven minute walk to the bustling Portobello Road where the famous Portobello Antiques Market takes place on Saturdays and a smaller flea market on Sundays, the daily open air market where you can buy fresh flowers and food, and plenty of great restaurants and cafés.

Westfield shopping mall (Europe's largest) and Shepherd's Bush Central Line station is a 5 minute bus ride away. Latimer road underground station is a 4 minute walk and Ladbroke Grove Underground station is only 5 minutes walk (both zone 2 Hammersmith and city / Circle line), and there’s a frequent bus service within a 2 minute walk that takes you to Oxford Street and the West End, (London’s theatre district). Of course, we have a local taxi company that can take you anywhere at the drop of a hat and larger cars are available for larger families!

A nearby bus service will take you to the famous City of Oxford in only one hour.

The ground floor level of the house has an oak-floored open living, dining and kitchen space with a Pantry and Utility / Laundry room. Under-floor heating throughout and a wood-burning stove make it warm and inviting.

It has a well-equipped hi spec kitchen with a professional range cooker, American style fridge/freezer (with ice maker) and separate wine fridge. The double height dining area has a long glass topped contemporary table with Charles Eames dining chairs and an open wood burning fireplace. There are also 2 Stokke highchairs should you require them, (We have a baby set for one of them).

Floor by floor:

The first floor has two bedrooms, (one with a King-size bed and the other with twin beds and a pull out bed underneath, a beautiful spacious bathroom (a “wet room” with under-floor heating, an amazing rain shower and a beautiful roll top bath), a further Bedroom / TV room with double sofa bed, with satellite TV and a DVD, (with an extensive collection of DVD’s for those “stay at home” days when you’re walked off your feet) and of course WiFi.

The second floor comprises a master suite with a King-size bed, en suite bathroom, (also a “wet room” with under-floor heating, powerful shower, roll top bath), a dressing room and a further bedroom with a single bed that converts into a Kingsize bed.

Bedroom specifics:

The bedroom configuration is as follows:

On the first floor, (floor above ground) we have:

Bedroom 1: Bunk beds(2 X Full size single beds with a single pull out underneath) 3 singles in total, (a UK single measures 36 in × 75 in / 91 cm × 190 cm). (Sleeps 3)

Bedroom 2: Kingsize bedroom (UK Kingsize measures 60 in × 78 in / 150 cm × 200 cm) (sleeps 2)

On the same floor we then have an upstairs sitting / TV room with a double sofa bed, (54 in × 75 in / 140 cm × 190 cm). (Sleeps 2) This has an open balcony to the floor below.

On the second floor:

Bedroom 3: Single bed (UK size 36 in × 75 in / 91 cm × 190 cm) that converts to a Super Kingsize (60 in × 78 in150 cm × 200 cm) (sleeps 2)

Master suite: Master suite with Kingsize bed (6' x 6'6 / 180cms x 200cms). Sleeps 2)

Both bedrooms on the second floor (top floor) have air conditioning.

We also have a folding guest bed that would be suitable for a child/ teenager and could be put in any of the bedrooms and 2 travel cots (pack and play).

The house is incredibly child friendly, we know how difficult it is to travel with children and slip quickly into a routine when you arrive somewhere new! We have plenty of books and toys and there are stair-gates and baby monitors in the bedrooms should you require them. If you're travelling with children you won't need to bring a thing other than their favourite snuggly!

Towels and linen are included and of course the house is carefully cleaned before each rental. Additional linen is available by arrangement and maid service during the rental period can be provided at guests' own cost (£15 per hour) . Our housekeeper lives round the corner and is on hand to deal with any emergencies as am I.

We can also provide you with a reliable babysitting service if desired, many of our guests make use of this and have been delighted with the sitters. Our nanny may also be available.

We provide a house file filled with useful information so you can quickly get to grips with where everything is, not only in the house but our preferred restaurants and services in the area. There are also plenty of travel guide books.

The accommodation is enormously flexible. As there are bedrooms on all floors, guests can base themselves in separate areas if 2 families are travelling together for instance. The beds and linens are of the highest quality, and so are the showers: guests often write appreciative notes about these. All the bedrooms are quietly appointed, so there should be little to disturb your sleep.

The house is a beautiful, practical and peaceful place to escape and enjoy London's hustle and bustle, our guests have told us that they enjoyed ' the luxury of a hotel whilst feeling a part of London life.'

I offer a personalised service and am on hand to offer advice whenever needed. This isn't a soulless holiday rental, this is a family home which will become your home from home.

I have lived in this area for 20 years and never get tired of what it has to offer. The local amenities around Portobello are exceptional, the restaurants extremely good and varied , (we have The Ledbury a Michelin 2* restaurant just up the road), the public transport links (bus and underground train) are nearby and frequent and the area is extremely safe.

What makes this house unique

Our property is in popular Notting Hill, a bustling and vibrant location with theatres, museums and restaurants within easy reach. The spacious and well equipped house is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard days exploring, it's secure, cozy, and the house is south - facing making it light and airy. A table and chairs on the cobbled, gated private road outside means you can while away the summer evenings outside watching the children play, glass of wine in hand. We also have a barbeque. A real home from home.

Ticks all the boxes

We had a great 9 nights at Katie's place. The house has absolutely all you need and is in an ideal spot for the underground, bus and Portobello Road. Various Food stores, off-licences and pubs are also all within an easy walk. If you want to go to Westfield at peak times: definitely don't drive though...a parking nightmare. For families it is a great house with space for the kids to play, multiple floors to give some separation and even a piano for the two piano players in our group. Only slight downside there is that the steep stairs make getting bigger suitcases up them a challenge.

Overall though just excellent and Katie is just so helpful on all fronts...highly recommended.

Dependably wonderful

We have stayed at this residence before, a few years back. It was a wonderful and comfortable place for our little family. It was the same this time around and it felt like home. Katie and David are brilliant. They are contactable whenever you need them and quick with good advice. The neighbourhood is very close to a tube and bus stop. It really has everything you could need nearby. My kids love the children's room and the wii. Many thanks!

Perfect pad for exploring London with children!

We had a really good time at Katie's house. She was very responsive. She was flexible about when we arrived and it was easy to get into the house. The house had a nice patio and a table and chairs where we could hang out outside. Close to Portobello Road and Latimer Road Tube stop. Great playground up the street. Easy internet and TV for the kids. Lots of toys. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely lovely property in a great location. Highly recommended for families!

From the second we stepped inside, we knew that we had found a very special spot. Katie's home is gorgeous, thoughtfully decorated, and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of room for our large family group to spread out and relax in the evenings when we came home after exploring London during the day. We found the buses and the Tube very easy to take into the heart of the city to explore. We especially enjoyed the double-decker bus rides! The home is spacious, with beautiful art everywhere. Katie's artistic soul is evident throughout the house. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, with a fantastic gas range and quality cookware. There were even toys for my youngest daughter to play with. The famous Portobello Market was jam-packed on Saturday morning and had terrific people-watching and treasure-finding. The street food at the market was superb, and we stocked up on olives, cheese and granary bread for our dinner that evening. Katie was a great communicator from start to finish. If you're looking for a haven to relax in during your stay in London, look no further. Highly recommended!

Perfect place to call home base!

We had a terrific trip and would highly recommend Katie's house for any family or group. We had two families in our party and could not have been more comfortable. Honestly, everything was terrific! Not only super comfortable, but a great location for daily sight-seeing. The tube was easily accessible and took us everywhere we wanted to go. Thanks Katie and family for sharing your home!

conveniently located and beautify house in West London

Our group of 10 had a wonderful time in London, and being able to stay at Katie & David's house was icing on the cake. The house is decorated beautifully with artworks and orchids through out, and the kitchen was fully stocked with spices and fabulous cookware. Katie was also very responsive whenever we have questions, and was personally at the property to greet us. The house is located between two tube stations, and its proximity to Portobello Road is absolutely fantastic!

Portobello market is amazing. Lively, interesting, colourful, great food and drinks and all round good fun for the whole family. you'll see live musicians, street food and colourful characters, it's cool, trendy and interesting with great restaurants. The house is quietly situated in a beautiful mews where you can dine al fresco in good company.
