Welcome to Alihi Lani #3 at Poipu Beach. As you enter the door you are immediately drawn to the splendor of the Pacific Ocean directly in front of you. New Air Conditioning units installed in the bedrooms can provide cooling throughout the open setting, although the prevailing ocean trade-winds supply natural air flow. As many of our guests mention in their reviews, "The pictures don't do it justice, the view is spectacular!"

Our premier ocean front condo has been completely upgraded with classic Hawaiian decor, including new living room furniture. Stroll on the cool natural stone floor throughout, enjoy the upgraded cherry cabinets, granite counters and stainless appliances in the brand new kitchen, or relax watching your favorite sports or movies on 3 flat screen TVs. HDTV cable service is provided, including a wide variety of music channels.

Most of all, enjoy our new lanai furniture while you unwind on the covered Lanai and admire the ocean waves breaking over the coral, or the surfers trying to catch the next wave, and finally the sun-setting over the water during the winter months. Have you ever seen the 'green flash'?

This unit is 'the prime location' on the ground floor within this 6 unit complex, close to the pool and BBQ grill area. Relax and unwind on the lanai for 'happy hour' and enjoy our newly refinished pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Private parking is located in the rear of the building, allowing direct entry, no stair climbing to the 2nd floor.

The living and dining area has been upgraded with new furniture, including a 60" flat screen HDTV, along with an HD/DVD, DVD movies, CD player and several paperback books. Our new sofa has a hide-a-bed with a plush 7" mattress for guest comfort.

The new Kitchen is fully equipped and upgraded with stainless appliances, including the Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Range and Microwave. New Cherry cabinets and beautiful granite counter tops finish off this convenient area to gather and make your meals.

The Master Bedroom includes a fantastic California King sized bed, along with a 32" wall mounted flat screen TV. The adjoining bathroom has also been tastefully upgraded with a new vanity, mirror and stone shower surrounding the bath tub.

The Guest Bedroom includes two twin beds that can be combined to make into a Queen sized bed if desired, and a small flat screen TV. The second bathroom is right around the corner from this room, and includes a newly vanity, mirror and upgraded stone shower.

Initial supplies of local island soap, shampoo and conditioner, along with Kauai coffee and cookies, are provided to make your first morning on the island special. All of your towels and linens are provided, along with a full size washer and dryer for your use. Laundry detergent is provided.

Relax in the sun at our private pool, cook your meals on our 2 new Weber BBQ gas grills, or take a short walk to the sandy beaches. The nearest beach is located 2 blocks east of us in front of the Sheraton Hotel. Hawaiian state law declares all beaches are public for everyone to enjoy. Beach chairs, Boogie Boards, towels, mats, an umbrella and a portable cooler are available for your use.

Stock up at the Costco in Lihue and get ready to relax in our prime location on the south shore of Kauai. The small village of Koloa is within a mile and has a Big Save grocery store which will meet most of your food and beverage needs.

Our property is fully licensed with the State of Hawaii to collect General Excise Tax (GE-123-225-7024-01) and Transient Accommodations Tax (TA-123-225-7024-01). We welcome your rental inquiries and promise to make your rental experience memorable.

Why Ron Johnson chose Kauai

Our first visit to Kauai in 2004 made a lasting impression and resulted in our purchase of this property the following year. Our desire is to provide an upscale home away from home for visitors tired of the hotel experience.

First time at Alihi Lani. Best combination of ocean front and pool access of any property we have stayed at on Kauai. Loved it.

Owner's Response: I am amazed and disappointed this guest did not rate our property a 5 star review. Their original reservation dates were impacted by our Board approving a roofing project. Several months in advance, I informed our guest of this plan and helped to rearrange their dates by reducing the rate to cover the cost of changing his airline tickets. The comments don't reflect anything negative and say this is a great place to stay. Can't figure this one out...?

Paradise found

Alihi Lani #3 is a great place to stay - all the prior comments about location and proximity to beaches, snorkeling ( Koloa Landing is less than a qtr mile and one of our favorite places to snorkel - many turtles every time we went out) surfing and good restaurants are spot on. The property is nicely furnished and our family of four was very comfortable. We really enjoyed having sunset barbecues by the pool overlooking the sea. Would highly recommend and hope to be back again. I also would note that the owner Ron is very prompt, professional and helpful.

Poipu shopping and restaurants very close! Look no further than Eating House and JO2 in Kapaa the best !

Living Foods and Cafe Kalaheo make decent expensive pancakes but the latter sans real maple syrup ( but can take your own )

Would stay again in a millisecond!

Many times to Kauai - Alihi Lani is truly the best place to stay

This is the first time I've ever written a review on anything, but after staying at Alihi Lani (AL) I needed to spread the aloha. Over the years, the kids, my wife and I have stayed at many locations, from the north end of the island (Hanalei) to the south (Poipu), and by far AL is now our hands down favorite.

The trip started off with a minor hiccup, but endeared us to this complex and its owner (Ron) even more. We arrived late on a Saturday night, and when we entered the condo we were blown away at the overall layout, the beautiful kitchen, and the sound of the waves right outside the slider. On Sunday we got up and sat on the lanai and watched the spinner dolphins and flying fish as we ate breakfast - incredible. As we were sitting there, we heard a whine coming from a shed that is connected to the complex. At first it wasn't that bad, but as the day went on in got worse. On Monday we got up and the whine was still there, so I emailed Ron (who I had never met) and told him about what was going on. Within an hour he had the pool maintenance company out there and Ron himself showed up (he was staying at another property on the island) to oversee the repairs. They diagnosed the problem as a fried bearing (stuff happens and machinery brakes), and had a new one shipped over from Oahu. In an effort to not disturb us and the other guests at the complex, Ron instructed the maintenance company to shut down the pump until it could be repaired. I wish every company I worked with had this kind of prompt and courteous response. After meeting with the pool company, Ron came up and introduced himself, and while we were sitting there a manta ray came right up in the cove and was cleaning itself on the reef. In all the times coming to the islands, I'd never seen that before.

We were at AL for ten days, and it was absolutely the best - every morning sitting on the lanai watching the dolphins chase the flying fish, the turtle highway that's right in front, the pool that feels like it's your own, all of the activities on the island, the walks from AL to all of the surrounding beaches, and on and on and on.

The condo itself is perfect, from the new fridge, the beautiful bathrooms, and of course the lanai, there's nothing that needs improving.

Currently trying to accumulate airline miles as fast as possible so I can get back soon.

The perfect spot!

I just returned from Kauai after a gorgeous 8 day stay. Our group of 5, including one child and four adults, absolutely loved staying in this condo. The location is perfect with amazing ocean views and beautiful sunsets. The weather in Poipu is the best on the island. If you are going to Kauai, stay in Poipu, and stay in this condo. The pool is 2 steps away from the lanai--we enjoyed the pool everyday. There are only 6 units in Alihi Lani so the pool is never over populated and most often we had the pool to ourselves. We enjoyed the pool toys and used the chairs and boogie boards when we visited beaches. We loved having a bbq grill steps away as well as we frequented the Koloa and Poipu farmers markets, cooked in often, and enjoyed many meals at the lanai table while watching the sunset. Make sure you try a sugarloaf pineapple---the best pineapple i've ever had! The groundkeepers gave us a bunch of apple bananas from a tree on the property--delicious as well. We also found a lime tree and used the limes to make some tasty margaritas.

The location is primo as it is close to shops, restaurants, and beaches (all within walking distance) while at the same time it felt like we had our own private setting. Many times we walked up to Lappert's for some ice cream and coffee. We went out on many excursions, too, and went through Outfitters Kauai several times---which is very conveniently located 1/2 mile away from the condo.

If you like burritos, do not miss "Da Crack" which is a walk-up food vendor right next to the Outfitters Kauai office in Poipu. On our last day, we ate at Plantation Gardens restaurant. The setting is beautiful and the food was terrific.

I was very happy to find extremely comfortable beds here. Plus having AC in the bedrooms ensured that we all slept well. Having a washer and dryer was also great.

Perfect family get-away!

I don't usually write reviews, however, our accommodations for our family trip to Kauai were a highlight of our vacation! We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful location of this condo with a view of the ocean by day and sunset by night. Our girls were so excited to find sea turtles within sight of our rental property and to snorkel with them in the cove nearby. We enjoyed running and walking along the oceanfront road and the kids loved boogie boarding and a surfing lesson at the Sheraton beach within walking distance. Our favorite lunch was enjoyed on the lanai just two steps from the pool and, thanks to being able to reserve an extra half day, our last few hours of paradise were spent swimming and visiting with our friendly rental neighbors. It could not have been more relaxing! We appreciated the beach chairs and snorkel sets/boogie boards that were provided for our use. We shopped at the nearby grocery store/farmers market so we also appreciated using the pantry staples that had been left in the kitchen and taking advantage of the grills for cooking. The a/c units were an unexpected luxury at night and screens on the windows and doors helped to bring the outdoors in during the day. The landscaping is beautiful and the proximity to shops and restaurants is convenient. What else can I say? We love this place and can't wait to come back!

The Poipu Beach area includes several hotels, restaurants and two interesting shopping areas.

Other Activities: Wildlife viewing, boating, shopping, golfing, kayaking, snorkeling.

Golf: Kiahuna Golf Course is less than 1 mile, and the Poipu Bay Golf Course is about a mile and one half to the east. This was the former site of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf and is a very challenging course along the south shore of Kauai.
