Space 645 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, A/C, WI-FI, panoramic views

Charming self-contained apartment, with exclusive use of the private swimming pool, its flowered garden and unique “Roman Cave” which continues the tradition of the thermal baths of ancient Rome. The apartment is situated in a villa located in the Roman countryside, 30mn from Rome, with panoramic views over the farming countryside of Rome. The villa stands on a sunny hillside in the Veio Regional Park, just 10 km from Rome, and is tastefully and comfortably furnished. The apartment offers not only a swimming pool [6m X 4,10m, to a depth of 1.50m] normally open from April to October, an oasis of calm amid the harbour of the perfumes of the flowers and fruit trees of its garden but also the newly-installed “Roman Cave” where guests can enjoy a complete relaxation in private, scented with essential oils, with the hydromassage Jacuzzi for two, which uses warm water produced by solar energy. The spa is situated in a niche dug into the rock with a cocktail bar at which to enjoy a drink.

This splendid apartment comprises the top floor of the villa, with a main bedroom having a large double bed - this room opens out onto the garden and swimming pool; a further living room with TV offering views over the countryside with a double sofa bed and with a double bed or 2 single ones at mezzanine level; a kitchen/diner and a bathroom with over-bath shower unit. The apartment sleeps preferably 4 people and a cot is available for babies. It is equally perfect for a family holiday or a peaceful and intimate short break, even for honeymooners!

Wifi is provided for those wishing to surf the net!

Some more information about our 'Roman Cave”:

The area is divided into two zones:

at the entrance, in the shade of the quince tree, there is a small bar at your disposal to give free reign to your imagination for exciting cocktails!

Beyond lies the “wellbeing” area awaits you, the atmosphere scented by oils, its romantic hydromassage Iacuzzi for two, double seat face to face, ergonomically shaped, with headrests, armrests and file, 6 jets of hydromassage acting on all the strategic points of the body for total relaxation.

Beyond this we have installed a shower too, to revive and return you to reality once more!!!

The Village and the surrounding area: The villa is 2 km from the medieval town of Sacrofano located at 200m above the sea level, profits from a climate fresher than that of the plain of Rome, and offers a choice of Trattorias and traditional Pizzerias where one can enjoy, at a reasonable price, the delicious local cooking made with local produce. Here one can find all that is necessary, small supermarkets, grocers, bakeries, cake shops, post office, pharmacy, medical services and a tobacconist - just to 2mins in the car. One of the best restaurants of the area is easily accessible on foot from the villa.

The area in which the villa is situated is an off the beaten tourist track and at the same time within one of the most beautiful areas of the Latium and an ideal centre whence one can even go to visit the most beautiful towns of Italy. The villa is within 12 km of Rome itself and 10 mins from the metropolitan station with frequent trains into the centre of the city.

The Eternal City and beyond: It is well known that Italy is home to 60% at least of the worlds artistic treasures and that one-half of them are concentrated in the city of Rome: the Capitol, the Palatine, the Forum, the Coliseum, the famous Roman thermal baths, catacombs, the church of St.Peter, the Sistine Vault, the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, the Appian Way and the many churches, palaces and ancient buildings....as well as the ancient sites outside rome, the remains of Etruscan cities, the villa of Hadrian and that of the Villa d'Este, Ostia Antica, the monastery of the Benedictines at Subiaco and the lakes around Bracciano or Castel Gandolfo, perfect for swimming and sunbathing, as is the Tyrrhenian Sea which is less than one hour away!

The Thermal baths, of the thermal structures modern and equipped well for health and the wellbeing are located at Tivoli, Viterbo, Colilia and Cretone, between 40 and 60 km of distance.

  • More information about our 'Roman Cave' As you can tell, we are very excited about our new 'Roman Cave” so let us give you a little more detail about this strange “Cave”! One of the most widely known aspects of the culture of ancient Rome is the predilection for thermal baths as a meeting place socially and for relaxation and wellbeing In Roman culture, water has always represented an element of life, an antique symbol of purity and purification. Our spa, nestled behind the exquisite and ancient quince tree, it is hidden inside a natural cave dug in the rock of the area, the “tufo”, a stone which goes back to the time of the Etruscans, in the rear of the villa's garden. This is a place devoted to the providing the maximum relaxation for you, designed for your physical and psychological wellbeing whilst agreeably adding a romantic flavour to your Roman holiday. Essential oils and candlelight will help you drift back in time and space.

The beautiful and elegant villa offers also a splendid view over the landscape of the area of Sacrofano (the nearest small town). The owners occupy the ground floor of the villa. They speak good English and are only too pleased to provide you with any advice or help that you may need. The property has its private entrance, there is a large terrace, perfect for dining in the evening surrounded by the magnificient greenery and flowering trees, with views across to the sun setting over the Eternal City. The garden offers a tempting refuse for reading or relaxing in the shade beneath the many trees and offers the chance of sunbathing too, followed by a dive into the refreshing pool! The garden has a barbecue for the use of the guests, or if you are feeling adventurous the owner is a true Roman cook and will be delighted to show the intricacies of true Italian lasagne or gnocchi! Your car can be parked quietly in front of the villa, in its private street.

Extraordinary Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Stellaria as our base for traveling to Rome. Little did we know how much we would fall in love with the house, town, people, and the restaurants in Sacrofano! The house was very clean and well maintained. The use of the pool and spa cave are an added bonus. Guiliana and Luigi are extraordinary hosts that make you feel like you are visiting old friends. It comfortably fit our family of four, though I can see a family of 5 fitting just as well. We hired a car from the airport to travel with more ease to and from the Villa and it was well worth it as it gave us the opportunity to explore some of the fantastic areas around Sacrofano and Rome. In my opinion, there is no where better to stay if visiting this part of Italy. My family and I hope to come back for a stay again in the future.

Very beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

Villa stellaria was everything and more we hoped. House inside is clean and well equipped. Air condition is in both bedrooms. Outside were great pool and lovely gave where you can enjoy jaguzzi after long day in Rome. Really relaxing! Väiew is fantastic from the balcony and you can see horses, cows and sheeps having their lunch in the other side of valley.

Giuliana and Luigi were perfect hosts. Our family asked them to make real Italian dinner and it was one of the best dinner we ever had! I recommend to ask for it from Giuliana. Price were well worth it!

It is really easy to travel by train to Rome from Montebello station. It cost only 1,50€ and you can travel with tube in same ticket. We had a car and we loved to drive over beautiful coutryside in small willages and lake Bracciano!

We are sure we come back again!

Thanks Giuliana and Luigi!

Wonderful family holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Stellaria back in April this year.

It was a special occasion for us all as a family and Guiliana and Luigi made it all so stress free and relaxing for us all. We have two teenagers and therefore frequent trips to the shops were essentials, Guiliana took us shopping as and when needed, she was such a great help!

The villa was well equipped and the garden delightful...

We didn't hire a car as public transport is very good and cheap but occasionally we would have appreciated having a car to explore the area a bit more. It was incredibly easy to go into Rome and we enjoyed the busy city but it was always nice to come back to the peaceful villa...

We loved going up the road to the trattoria for a meal some evenings as they made us feel so welcome... And we also enjoyed Sacrofano, such a lovely little town.

Overall, we had a great stay thanks to Guiliana and Luigi!

beautiful peaceful haven

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we arrived we were made very welcome with homemade wine, cake and limoncello,Guiliana and luigi are always available if needed but never intrusive. The villa and gardens are beautifully maintained, with 2 tortoises in the garden which were a pleasant surprise as well as Lady a very friendly liitle dog and Artur the cat who sometimes made an appearance. The spa cave is very nice and relaxing after sightseeing in Rome with a music system if you wished to play cds which can be played in the garden if you leave the door open, nice if you have a bbq too.If you had young children there is a play house with toys to keep them occupied during the day if they tire of the pool.

I would recommend hiring a car as it made it a lot easier to shop and eat out in Sacrofano, our favourite restaurants being Il Grottino and da Tonino.

We travelled to Rome to sightsee a couple of times and if you catch the train at Fumicino station the last train from Rome is 11.30pm in the week and 1.30 am at weekends,I believe they do not run as late from Montebello station.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with perfect hosts and would highly recommend to anyone who wants a home from home with Rome on your doorstep!

Thank you once again Guiliana and Luigi.xx

We had a great time! the house is well equipped, clean and cosy. The swimmingpool is very nice when it's hot. You couldn't wish for a better host than Giuliana. She explained us the public transport, took us to the shops to buy groceries, she made a delicious cake for us and gave us some homemade limoncello and wine!

We didn't have a car, but the public transport is very easy and closeby. You can walk to the main street, which is closeby, take a bus to the trainstation and then take the train which brings you right in the centre of Rome (piazza del Popolo)

It took us 45 minutes to Piazza del Popolo. A perfect house, a perfect host, a perfect holiday!

Clean, well equipped villa

  • 3 of 5

The villa was very clean and well maintained and well equipped. The gardens and swimming pool were beautiful. We had a wonderful welcome. I would suggest that a hire car would be imperative as the villa is fairly remote and the public transport is not good and we were not able to explore as we hoped.

Owner's Response: During July and August public transport is less frequent; this is why on the site, I suggest my guests it is preferable to rent a car during these months. Many other guests w/o a car enjoyed their stays.

The Regional Park of Veio covers 15.000 hectares, and represents one of the most important areas located at the periphery of Rome. In this protected area, previously only reserved for agriculture, are charming villages of medieval origin which, each with their own gastronomic traditions, which makes this area an ideal place to spend the holidays but still only a few kilometres from the capital. Come to sample its cordial hospitality and to enjoy its good cooking! This area also offers a vast range of activities to you. Castel Romano and Valmontone Fashion Outlets, with its 100 stores, offer all year round designer wear at great discounts of from 30 to 70%. Other very important Shopping malls for example that of Porta di Roma, the largest in Italy with its 220 stores, and that of Roma Est, a large funpark, a riding centre, regional and annual Fairs, antique markets and markets of local produce every Sunday in the various villages, are only to 10 and 50 mins away from our villa.

Golf: There are 3 18-hole golf courses within 20 mins of the property, these are open all year round: the “Golf Club Arco di Costantino”, the “Club of Golf of Olgiata” and the “Club of Golf del Parco di Roma”.

Gastronomic festivals, concerts, dances, folklore, film festivals, medieval parades, meals in the open air and traditional music follow one another all year round at many of the neighbouring villages.

Car is not necessary but recommended for a fantastic holiday; please note that in July and August it is however preferable to rent a car as public transport is less frequent during these months.
