About Ann Francois
My husband and I met in the mountains of New Mexico where we both had gone to enjoy the beauty and peace. It was a little rough going at first, as Willy, being French, didn't speak much English and me, being American, knew little French. It's now been 35 we've both learned each other's language. Now the struggle is to learn Spanish! Although we lived in NYC when we returned from New Mexico, we eventually made our home in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our home has become a work of art both inside and out. We are surrounded by nature and light. We started our own company that has been ongoing since 1990, devoting our lives to creating beautifully crafted artworks. My husband and I discovered Manuel Antonio almost 25 years ago and fell in love immediately..When the opportunity arose, we were able to purchase the last plot of land in Chaman and built our home in the style we and spacious, surrounding by nature and beauty. Every year that we visit, we try to improve and make our home more comfortable, We are happy to share our paradise and hopefully bring a bit of happiness into the lives of others.
Ann Francois purchased this House in 1993
Why Ann Francois chose Manuel Antonio
This property is located in an elegant compound of seven houses. It will remind you of the Mediterranean with its red roofs and yellow walls. Each home is constructed differently both inside and out, and ours is the most spacious and most comfortable. Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy! We are well located between beach and town with public transportation, both bus and taxis, readily available. You can also walk into town in 15 minutes passing a beautiful view of the marina. Excellent restaurants are close at hand. Everything you need is found here.
What makes this House unique
Our complex is surrounded by lush gardens and wildlife. You will see monkeys, exotic birds, and much more from our terrace. You will also enjoy the interior of our home. Not only is it spacious and well appointed, but we have made a collection of colorful artworks that grace the walls. A new stove, refrigerator and flat screen TV adds to the enjoyment. We have great Wifi and cable. Bring a FireStick and it will easily connect to our smart TV, but stations are already available in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Chinese! Relax and Enjoy!

A great place but not for everyone
We loved staying here. It was convenient to get where we wanted to go, close to town and restaurants plus easy to get to Manuel Antonio. The caretakers were very sweet and helpful
But this place is not for everyone. If you have trouble negotiating stairs you might want to think of staying somewhere else because there are narrow, long stairs going down and up. Not much fun when lugging heavy bags.
The place has charm but needs updating. The cabinets look nice but the drawers need to be on rollers.
We would stay here again but there are a few things she should have for travelers. We stay at a number of HomeAway and VRBO homes and normally things are provided for guests as a kind of “thanks”. Coffee, lotion and shampoo samples for at least first morning as many times travelers don’t have opportunity to shop before reaching destination, some games would have been nice as well to have during Rainy nights. Since it cost $10 a day for access to laundry facilities some extra towels would have been nice too.
Overall, this place has charm, was clean, convenient and comfortable so ya, we would stay here again.
We are so happy that the guests enjoyed our place and would be happy to return. We look forward to that!
The photos we feature do show the staircases to get to our place and those who have walking problems are always advised of this. Manuel Antonio in general is in the hills and walking around can be a problem for some people. We cannot change this aspect.
Plenty of extra towels and linen are provided. Guests only need to open the bathroom cabinets and bedroom closets to find them. We do provide soap, paper towels and toilet paper, some condiments such as salt, pepper and sugar. We also have a good collection of books, playing cards and I believe dominos. Television and cable are included with programs in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Guests can also bring along a FireStick which can be hooked up and provide even more programming.
We were happy to have these guests and look forward to their return!
Lovely spacious home. Great location.
Two good size bedrooms and two goid size bathrooms. Very comfortable with an on hand site manager. Very secure. With a great hammock!
Thank you Ninder. So happy that you enjoyed our home and area! It was our pleasure!
Love this area/home
We stayed at Casa Tango for 2 lovely weeks. The home is spacious and well kept. The grounds are lovely and manicured. We enjoyed sitting by the pool and were able to see monkeys, iguanas, and birds from this viewpoint. In the house, there were hummingbirds viewed from the terrace. Pia was available and helpful for all our needs.
Our only concern was the terrace furniture was a little uncomfortable...needs a little more padding. Other than that it was a blue ribbon stay! Thank you!
Thank you Anne. So happy you enjoyed your stay! We're here now for five weeks enjoying the comfort and beauty, while, even after 25 years of coming to Costa Rica, still being thrilled by the monkeys, birds (including macaws and toucans), sloths and other animals that we see from our home on a regular basis. We are on a mission to get better padded lounge chair cushions during our stay,, but we've also just bought a new 42" flat screen television. We thank you again for enjoying our paradise as much as we do1
In the jungle
2 bedrooms with AC and some street noise. Sun rises before 6 and animals do to, so bring a eye mask and sound machine. 2 baths with some flushing issues. Maintenance came the 2nd day. Newer frig and range. Also microwave. Nice porch with hammock. Smaller clean pool with fountain & chairs. On street parking. Owner available by email. Recommendations left on kitchen table. Suggest booking 6:50 am tour of MA Nat Park. Playa Biesanz is 1.5 miles away. $10 per shaded chair. $20 for 1.5 hours kayaking to snorkel & paddle boarding.
The guest forgot to mention that when she reported the small leak it was NEW YEAR'S EVE. We tried to get a repair person on New Year's Day but that proved impossible. However, our repair person arrived on Jan 2 and made the repairs with the guest reporting to me that everything was fine. The issues were resolved. Please note that at the beautiful Manuel Antonio public beach you can also rent chairs with umbrellas for $10 for the day...and often less if you book for several days. The guest also told me that her favorite point of the vacation was the colorful macaws that fly over our swimming pool every morning. They can be noisy, but definitely worth it.....The toucans can also be early morning visitors who are heard....but what a sight!!!
Excellent choice for me...
This property is as advertised. Clean, comfortable, and convenient; as well as a good value.
Another plus is that unit is about 500 feet from the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Taxis and buses were plentiful.
There was a bit of confusion on checkout day. It was not a big deal, but I recommend to the traveler is to contact the property manager the day before checkout to confirm checkout time. (Local calls are free from the unit.)
A couple of comments about Manuel Antonio, i.e. the area immediately around the park itself. US dollars are king. Credit cards charges have 'taxes' attached - anywhere from 15-20%. And if you make an effort to pay in Colones, the exchange rate is horrible - 500-550 to the US dollar. I was able to negotiate one tour, paying by credit card, without the 'tax', because I walked away.
Credit cards, however, were widely accepted in all of the restaurants between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, of which there are many. The owner provided a current list and I cross-referenced the reviews with other travel tools.
Final note regarding the beaches. Beaches around Manuel Antonio are a bit confusing. The beaches within the park do not have services except disgusting restrooms. Playa Espadilla, aka Playa Espadilla Norte, is the public beach outside of the park. A very nice beach with services, activities, etc.
Thank you Steve!
Very comfortable home and safe!
Great communication with the owner!
Thank you Penny. Our pleasure.
All the best,
Manuel Antonio beaches are perhaps the most beautiful in the world. The wide and unpopulated beach and sea is a paradise of palm trees, monkeys, whales, dolphins and fish of all kinds. Spectacular views and casual fine dining are a way of life. Manuel Antonio National Park is a country treasure. Activities include animal watching to butterfly farms, jet skiing to sail boating, horseback riding to canopy trails, deep sea fishing to white water rafting. The quaint town of Quepos hosts a farmers' market and a new boat marina all. Everything conveniently located to this villa.
Other Activities: Canopy trails, rain forests, butterfly farm, bird watching, whale & dolphin watching.
