Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday villa in Lauro - Villa della Marchesa

An impressive villa from the 18th cent. for 10-12 people

Villa della Marchesa sits on an enclosed estate in the centre of the historic town of Lauro, 34 km to the east of Naples. This unusually large holiday home measures 1000 m2! This former convent was converted into a residential farmhouse during the 18th century. The interior of the villa has been renovated down to the smallest detail and retains its original charm and character. Each stone was removed, cleaned, and put back in its rightful place. The holiday home and its garden were classified as fine art by the Italian Ministry. Ground floor: a foyer; 2 large parlours; a small, private chapel; a completely furnished kitchen in a rustic style; 3 bathrooms; and a laundry room. First floor: 2 living rooms; a music room; a formal dining room; a library; five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom; a kitchen; and a large terrace. Please ask for the link to our homepage for further information. Many thanks! Historical ambience, character, and charm: this location can take you back in time to another world of ages past. The arched hall bids you entry, the bright marble flooring shimmers, handmade, antique Maiolica tiles or traditional Neapolitan clay tiles spread out from the living room and lead into the next large spaces: halls and parlours that melt into one another, with arches that gently curve between the walls and ceiling. Vases decorate the marble fireplaces, Murano glass shines down across the long table in the dining hall. Paintings brighten up nearly every room and a concert piano awaits gifted hands in the large parlour. The villa is completely decorated with antiques and there are countless sofas to carry you off into the past on lazy days. A villa under historical protection: As you may already know, comparable homes nowadays are virtually all a part of large hotels and residences, which habitually present them in an anonymous style, because the flair of the Palazzi is often unfortunately lost over the course of modernisation. To the absolute contrary, this property has remained under private ownership: the home is administered within the family and has retained its authentic atmosphere. Villa della Marches is a true original from top to bottom – and has a 1000m2 surface area to top it all off! A real Italian rarity. Here you will enjoy the harmonious atmosphere of a private family residence and all the comfortable amenities that are possible for living with a large group. The house is well-equipped (central heating on the upper floor, multiple marble fireplaces, telephone, fax, satellite TV, microwave, oven, wheelchair lift available upon request, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, ironing nook). Outings in the area: The little town of Lauro (roughly 3500 residents) has cappuccino bars, a bank, a grocer, a small supermarket, a butcher, two pizzerias, two restaurants and some other local restaurants outside of the area, a barber (who also makes home visits), a chemist’s shop, and a post office. A market of fruits, vegetables, and household wares takes place weekly. Although a car is recommended in this region, there is also some public transportation: the bus stop is within walking distance and, in July/August, the bus travels to the centre of Naples 4 times a day (10 times a day in the other months). From there you can take a ferry to Capri or Ischia. The most beautiful beaches on the Amalfi coast are easily within reach. Some holiday destinations and beaches can be reached by train: take the bus to Nola (11 km) and then the Circumvesiana Line, which has multiple stops on the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi coast.
