About Maria Pereira

My husband David and I have 3 children. We love to travel but most of all we love to spend time in our home in Puerto Rico. We have many wonderful memories in this house. We hope you will also have a memorable time!!

Maria Pereira purchased this house in 2005

Why Maria Pereira chose Guayabos

We fell in love with this home the second we saw it. The ocean views and the open floor plan was exactly what we were looking for. We hope to retire here one day. We love Puerto Rico, its culture and its people!

What makes this house unique

We love the grounds! My husband and I like to garden and completely get immersed in our gardening when we visit. We love to sit on the deck in the evenings, play some music and enjoy the stars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you're looking for peace and quiet Solimar is perfect for you. If you love to just sit and stare at the ocean, then Solimar perfect is for you. But if you want to be close to all the amenities we North Americans are used to, then Solimar is perfect for you too. It's located just 10 minutes from everything (Walmart, Church's Chicken, Pondarosa, Walgreens) but also minutes away from lots of little local stores and restaurants. Plus great roadside fruit and veggy stands. We're not beach people but if you are there are lots of very private beaches nearby.

The house is exactly like the pictures which is always a pleasant surprise. Very comfortable king size bed and couches in the living room. We are readers so comfortable lounging is very important to us. Lounging on the deck just watching the Iguanas come into the garden below was my favorite pass time. We were also lucky enough to see whales our first few mornings...that was so exciting! Maria was very easy to work with and her mom, also Maria, very sweet and welcoming.

We rented a car which is a must. A GPS, in addition to an island map, is also a must. As Maria will tell you, Puerto Rico is not great for signage, in fact many streets have no signage. When you look at the map remember, the smaller the road #, like #2, the larger the road. If you see a road with a 3 or 4 digit number expect to be driving a very narrow and winding road....my husband loved those! Road # 123 is a major route that runs North and South through the mountains. It is super spectacular, the mountains are breathtaking but it's like a roller coaster with lots of oncoming traffic, again, my husband had a blast driving it!

We had some wonderful trips around the island but were always happy to get back to Solimar and sit on the deck with an nice cold Medalla! We loved Solimar!

Breathtaking view & the greatest 'feel at home' feeling

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in Solimar for a week along with my wife and three children aged (21, 15, and 10). We all had a great time in Puerto Rico and look forward to staying in this particular property once again. My children all shared a room (had three beds, two twins and one full), whereas my wife and I shared the master bedroom with an amazing view. It was breathtaking waking up every morning and being able to look over the ocean and the sunrise. The rooms both had A/C and it helped considering the hot weather in PR. The property also had two hammocks which my sons absolutely loved and spent a lot of time resting and enjoying the amazing breeze that is constantly visiting the property. Everything was clean & we all couldn't help but feel like we were in our own home. I totally recommend to anyone looking for a home away from home that offers comfort and privacy. The property is a 5-10 minute drive from beaches, there's a bakery (Panaderia) about 5 minutes, there's also a pizza place nearby (5 minutes), and many restaurants with ocean front right across from the beaches. Great home, great destination! Thank you Maria for allowing us to stay in your home. We look forward to staying in the near future once again.

Beautiful, spacious, quiet, million dollar view.

  • 5 of 5

The place is quiet and secluded but still safe and close to everything you need. Isabela is a beautiful place and the town is smaller and more laid back than other places on the island which makes it nice if you are looking to get away and relax. There are still plenty of places to have a good time and plenty of places to eat close by. The home is spacious and comfortable. Wonderful country side setting with amazing ocean views. Maria was very responsive and accomodating. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Isabela home

  • 5 of 5

Private and quiet neighborhood. GPS made it easy to find. House has stove, refrigerator and Microwave if you want to cook. Beach supplies (Towels, chairs) were also available. Both rooms had AC. Living room has large sliding doors to allow the trade winds to come in. Easy access for day trips. Owners family meet us there to provide us the key and the security gate control.

This home was excellent, and we would recommend it to all our friends

  • 5 of 5

We really appreciated the overall condition of the home including all the properly functioning appliances, TV, bathrooms, basically everything. Completely equipped and ready to go. The location right on the beach was fantastic. I wish we could have spent more time there just to hang out in the house and look out into the ocean.

Thank you very much for such a great accomodation.

Peaceful retreat with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Solimar was just what we needed. It is a beautiful home that is equipped for all your needs. The home is spacious and comfortable with an ocean view that is incredible.

Maria and her welcoming crew were fabulous and easily accessible. Before our trip Maria sent easy to follow maps and suggested a few places to visit while we were there.

The kitchen was very well equipped and eating on the spacious patio for both breakfast and dinner was a highlight for us. We stayed six nights and only turned the ac on once, our first night there. We quickly learned the cool evening breezes were all we needed for a comfortable night sleep while hearing the ocean waves from below.

Each morning we were awoken the the warm sunshine flooding in the windows and the delightful crows of the neighborhood roosters.

Our stay was incredible, there is only one thing we would've done differently.... stayed longer!!

We are already beginning to think about our next trip and it will definitely include a return stay to the beautiful Solimar and it's more then gracious host.
