Lovely furnishings and great location right in the heart of Hillcrest. Reserved parking is a great plus as well. Great owner with very great communication.
Had a wonderful experience with the apartment. It’s clean, well-equipped, in a great location, etc.
Overall, I had a great stay in the apartment. Michael and Bob are friendly and easy work with. Would happily live in the unit full time.
- Great location near grocery stores, gyms, coffee shops, bars, shopping, etc.
- Easy commute to downtown, UTC area, La Jolla, and Pacific Beach.
- Well-equipped with bedding, towels, cookware, lighting, etc.
- Comfortable furniture
- Modern appliances
- Easy to clean
- Friendly, accommodating landlords
- Parking spot included
- Quiet building
- Fast wifi
- Solid view of North Park neighborhood
- Depending on where you are commuting to in the morning, try and leave early as traffic does build up after 8:00 AM
- The unit can get warm during the middle of day, so I’d recommend closing the blinds whenever out of the unit
First, all the good things everyone else has said about this place totally true: great location, really well thought out and equipped unit, lots of closet and drawer space, easy parking, comfy, terrific view, plenty of windows, and more. Second, the two drawbacks--no AC (San Diego has gotten hotter) and bridge construction noise--are totally gone. Michael and Bob, the fab owners, have added a new combo heat/AC unit that works brilliantly and is very quiet. And the city has finally finished with the nearby bridge construction (I was here for the last two weeks of it), so this peaceful place is peaceful again. I'd book it again in a heartbeat.
Great Place for an Extended Stay
We stayed in the condo for four months while waiting for our home to be built. Michael and Bob have thoughtfully set up the condo very comfotably. They were also very accommodating when we had an initial schedule change due to a delay in the sell of our home.
What we liked best:
•Great location - in the heart of the city. Walking distance to restaurants/bars, shops, farmers market, the zoo and Balboa park
•Gated, no-smoking, very quiet complex, although you do hear city noise below, I.e. traffic, sirens, occasional voices/shouts from the street, but that is part of the energy of being in the city.
•Beautiful city view to the East
•The condo is fully stocked for all nerds, with a comfortable bed
•Michael and Bob left us alone but were immediately available when minor maintenance issues popped up
•Washer and Dryer in unit
No central a/c, which isn’t uncommon in SD. The summer was hot for SD, but there is a room a/c in the living area and overhead fan in the bedroom which worked for us.
•Construction of the adjacent Georgia St Bridge could be pretty noisy but is planned to end soon.
•There is one assigned parking space. If you have two vehicles, one will need to park in the street. We managed this by having whoever got home first each day park in the street, when parking was readily available and leaving the reserved spot open for whoever got home the latest, when finding street parking could be challenging.
Overall, I would highly recommend the place and if the need ever arose again, would absolutely look to book it again..
We are very glad that you had a great time in the apartment, and we wish you well in your new home. Your review is thoughtful and detailed, so I'm sure it will be helpful to future tenants. We seem to get a fair number of people who are in the process of renovating or building their next home, and who choose to live in the heart of the city in the interim, so we're glad it worked out for you.
Alas, the weather in San Diego IS getting warmer, and although the apartment didn't initially come with central air-conditioning when it was built, (we're happy you made use of the various cooling options supplied at the time), we have since installed central A/C, to promote more comfort for our tenants, as we all adapt to the changes in our climate.
Thanks again for your helpful review. It was a pleasure for us to have had you choose our place for your "extended stay", and for taking such good care of it!
Perfect apartment for our needs
Michael and Bob have outfitted a one bedroom apartment to be a great home away from home. We live out of town and needed a place to stay while taking care of an ill family member. The apartment has an updated kitchen and bath and lots of storage. They put a lot of attention into the details both in the apartment and in their interactions with the renter. Location was convenient and with easy access to stores and restaurants. Would definitely recommend!
Home Away From Home!
We stayed at Michael's home for a month, and his home worked perfectly for our needs.
When we first walked in, we were first struck by how clean the unit was, and how it looked exactly as shown in the pictures. It had everything that one would want. There obviously was thought put into it's amenities. The kitchen was complete with everything needed to make meals in-house. The living area couch and chairs and eating areas were all comfortable. There was good lighting, and plenty of outlets for our electronic devices. The bedroom had plenty of closet and dresser space, and the queen bed was fantastic - it was super comfortable. The bathroom was a good size, and had major counter space. Water pressure was great, the shower was great, and there were plenty of supplies.
Michael was an outstanding host. He was very communicative, and always responsive in a quick way to my e-mails and texts. When we checked in, he met us, and went thru everything that we needed to know about the home, and the area.
I would give Michael's home 5 stars. We would rent this location again!
1 block from four major bus lines (routes 1, 7, 10 and 11), offering direct access to San Diego Trolley, and Santa Fe Depot and Old Town Train Stations. Near the Hillcrest Medical Center hospitals, walkable to Balboa Park, with dozens of restaurants and bars nearby.
