In Falmouth's Historic District and on the Falmouth Road Race route, central AC, hardwood floors, dishwasher, washer & dryer, Webber gas grill, porch with cool ocean breeze, Samsung flat-screen TV, gas fireplace, beautifully landscaped surroundings, picnic tables, 8-minute walk to town or harbor, 2-minute walk to beach, close to Shining Sea Bike Path, Spohr Gardens and Martha's Vineyard ferries. Four bicycles are provided for free (each would be $100 per week at Falmouth rental rates).

The Neighborhood: This is a year-round established neighborhood in Falmouth's Historic District. It is cooled by pleasant sea breezes, making the porch an especially delightful spot to enjoy a book and a beverage. The location is ideal for the biking enthusiast, being a short ride to the Shining Sea Bike Path which connects picturesque Wood's Hole with North Falmouth (12-14 miles each way). If you are a coffee nut and like to spend time over great coffee, I recommend the Coffee Obsession. There is one in Woods Hole another in the 'Queens Buyway' in Falmouth center. Also highly recommend 'Pie in the Sky' in Woods Hole for breakfast sandwiches and great coffee. From the house it is a short walk to Falmouth Harbor, where the Clam Shack provides great eating while you sit and watch the boat traffic in and out of the harbor.

Falmouth Center: The center of Falmouth is an 8-minute walk. The town library, which has a large selection of DVD's, wifi, and a great selection of books. There is a variety of restaurants along main street catering to varied tastes. Park your car in the driveway for the week. Bike and walk. While you can drive a couple miles to Stop and Shop or Shaws supermarket, I recommend biking or walking the Windfall Market, across from the harbor, for your shopping. If you're a bargain shopper, Falmouth has a WalMart, Christmas Tree Shop and Ocean State Job Lot.

Golf: There are a number of great golf courses in the area. My favorite is Cape Cod Country Club, followed by Falmouth Country Club. Check out their websites for details.

Fantastic holiday cottage

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage for one week in July and we would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to holiday on the Cape. The cottage itself was lovely, suitable for a family of 4. It was sympathetically decorated and was exceptionally clean with everything you could need - it was just like a home from home. The living room was cosy - free WiFi and cable TV was much appreciated by the children. The beds and pillows in both rooms were very comfortable, there was more than enough wardrobe space and the kitchen had all necessary amenities. We also liked the porch area (great for enjoying a glass of wine) and the outside shower which was very refreshing after a trip to the beach. We booked the cottage itself not only on the description, pictures and glowing reviews but also because the cottage came with bicycles - which is what we wanted - to cycle the Shining Sea Bikeway and visit the beach. We used 3 of the bikes which more than suited our needs, all were in good working order. I especially found the white bike with the rear metal pannier really useful for carting around our swimming gear and bottles of water! We loved being in the Falmouth area as it was a great base to explore Cape Cod and Martha's vineyard. The town of Falmouth - an easy walk from the cottage - had a fantastic selection of restaurants and shops and had a real community spirit. Definitely try out Simply Divine Pizza and Ben and Bill's Ice Cream! The house is also close to the beach and we were able to cycle to further beaches which was a great bonus. From the very start our dealings with Dennis were fantastic, he was quick to respond to any questions, he was informative and very helpful. In addition, at the end of our stay Dennis was a lifesaver when we left our passports in the cottage and he drove well over 2 hours at night to meet us in order to return them!! We will be ever grateful to Dennis for his generosity in helping us out. This is a great cottage - you will definitely enjoy your stay here.

Falmouth rental

Enjoyed this property and its proximity to the beach. The owner has thought of everything - house is very well supplied and clean as a whistle. We hope to return soon.

Cozy and comfortable cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dennis & Claire's Cape Cod cottage. The location was perfect for walking to the beach and into town. The kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and the living area was large enough for four adults. The outside porch was perfect for sitting and taking in the breezes. The house was impeccably clean. Linens, bath towels and beach towels were provided and plentiful. The hosts were totally responsive to our inquiries and provided suggestions and recommendations for our stay. We would book a stay again.

I miss it already!

Exactly as described and better! So close to the beach, which is a great beach, not crowded. Everything you need is there, house is clean, private, comfortable and gives you the cottage feel that you want when you're visiting the Cape. If you have a smaller family I would highly recommend this house. We will hopefully be back! My 8 year old daughter made me promise to ask everyone to "be nice to the rabbits"- she made close friends with them haha :) Thanks Dennis- you're an excellent host- thanks for sharing your special home.

I am a retired career educator, having been a classroom teacher for many years and later a high school principal, My father, a master carpenter, built the house in the early 1950's. At first it was a summer house, but my parents later winterized it for year-round use. This was the house in which I spent my summers growing up. When my mother passed away I inherited the house. At that time I had it completely renovated, while retaining its traditional character and charm.

Why they chose this property

This 'doll's house' is uniquely situated for both relaxation and activity, having ready access to beach, harbor and town center. Because of the family memories and our affection for the area, my wife Claire (also a retired career educator) and I maintain the house and yard as a labor of love.

What makes this property unique

Our favorite spot is the porch, where cooling sea breezes enhance viewing the roses, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, mountain laurel, wysteria, holly trees and other plants that bloom in sequence from spring through fall.
