I, my husband and our dog - as well as our several visitors over the Thanksgiving holiday - loved this house. It was comfortable, well located and the kitchen contained everything I needed to prepare a holiday dinner for 10! We always go down to FL and rent various homes and this is the first one where I can honestly say the kitchen was as well stocked as my own. The location of the house is also perfect - it is within 2 blocks of the beach, kids playground and 4 blocks to the center of town activities. Others may feel that the Gulfport beach is not as swimable as SPB but I like it as it has very few visitors, the sand is white and clean - since I'm not a swimmer the nice beach is a top priority for me. We also enjoy the many local activities - from the farmers markets to the crafts fairs - they provide local activities without the fuss of traveling. Our dog also enjoys the dog park and the dog friendly businesses in town. One of the best restaurants is PIA'S TRATTATORIA - really great atmosphere and food. I would also recommend SAVE ON SEAFOOD, a 1.5 mi. drive, which has the freshest seafood around at very reasonable prices if you are cooking in. We plan on returning next year and as mnay times after that as we can. Thank you for opening up your home to us.
The house is funky and adorable. AC worked great. Lots of room for our sewing group to work. Our host was very quick to respond to questions.
The write-up and pictures on this property are absolutely accurate and true. The home was clean and spacious with plenty of room for 5 or 6 people. The artwork and decorating made our stay interesting and fun. We walked to the beach, did the art walk and had some great meals (and margaritas) at nearby restaurants. We were only a short 15 minute drive to Madiera Beach and spent two full days just enjoying the beach and sun at a place called Caddy's. The house has CDs, books, games and has a all the pots/pans, towels, dishes and utensils you'll need. We ate breakfasts in and there's a Walmart grocery and a Winn Dixie within a 5 minute drive. You won't go wrong renting this property. Nancy was a great hostess and responded quickly to any inquiries. Wished we booked for a longer stay!!
This property in Gulfport, FL was perfect. Pictures on the website do not do it proper justice. The house was well outfitted with all the essentials and we especially liked the decorative touches that were a lot of fun. Everyone who visited us were very impressed. It was clean and quiet and the neighbors are nice. The Gulfport business district is within easy walking distance. While there, we visited and ate at Pia's and O'Maddy's, both of which are excellent. Our host was very receptive to comments and questions. If we have the opportunity to visit the area again, this will be the first place I check. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The house was definitely funk. There were so many things to look at, running the gambit of genres. The clean roomy house had a fully stocked kitchen, as well as a washer and dryer. There were 2 bicycles, which we used several times. The location was about 2 blocks from the bay and walking distance to town. We used the screen porch quite a bit. It was a short ride to the grocery stores and over to the beaches.
this is indeed a "funky" place, built in the 50s, with lots of interesting art on the walls and various kinds of collectibles. i travel a lot and am usually staying in hotels, so i missed having some things that are usually provided -- soap, shampoo, hairdryer, etc. -- but there's a walgreens around the corner to get whatever you need. also the AC wasn't working terribly well, but nancy was very responsive in coming over to try to fix it. in the end, we just put a fan in the bedroom and it was a bit warm but tolerable (nancy made the point that the other bedroom was cooler, but we already had our stuff in the master bedroom). the master bath is tiny but the water pressure in the shower is good, and she had plenty of towels available. the best part was the yard, which is fully fenced and shady even in the heat of the day so our 2 big labs could get outside a bit. nancy is for sure a dog person, and that made all the rest of the stuff inconsequential by comparison -- it's really hard to find hotels down here (or anywhere!) that allow you to bring along two 80-lb dogs, no matter how well behaved they are. it was too hot most days for us to walk to gulfport, but in cooler weather it would be a nice, walkable jaunt to beach drive, stores/restaurants, etc.
Friendly beachside community. Numerous local activities, A 'main street' downtown area with restaurants,
coffee shop, outdoor gathering spot with local music talent, shops etc. Bi-monthly Art Walks, many festivals, 4th of July old time parade with fireworks over the bay. Active, active community, everchanging but always people, community oriented. If your looking for laid back, old time Florida fun time Gulfport is for you. Surrounding communities are the typical professional resorts styled places, Gulfport is a gem for old style fun. Step out of Gulfport at your own risk, returning to cilvilization is not recommended.
Other Activities: dancing, volleyball, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding
