About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

After a brief break from renting, our home is available for Fall 2016!

Only a couple of miles from Omega's Rhinebeck Campus (see link below), one of the world's premier yoga and wellness centers, this house is perfect for a weekend escape or a couple seeking the beauty of Hudson Valley for the season. This house in the hamlet of Clinton Hollow, on the edge of Rhinebeck. The house is situated only a few feet from beautiful Little Wappinger's Creek and has a waterfall on the property. It is about one-and-one-half hours north of Manhattan on the Taconic Parkway.

Originally built in the mid-nineteenth century, the house has been recently remodeled. Adding to the quaintness, the ceilings are approximately seven-feet high and exposed, original beams can be seen throughout the house.

We are sure you will enjoy the house as much as we do! This house is perfect for a couple seeking a quiet retreat, an avid yoga enthusiast, or anyone who loves the country. Both Rhinebeck and Poughkeepsie are 15-20 minutes away by car. Millbrook is about 10-15 minutes away. Dozens of historic houses, mansions, museums, and the entire Hudson River are all located nearby. The Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts are only an hour away.

While beautiful, peaceful, and unbelievably relaxing, this home is probably not ideal for small children. The house is very close to the water and there is no fence or barrier between the house and the water. It is best to be enjoyed by adults.

First floor - entry area, kitchen, dining room, and living room.

Second floor - two bedrooms (one with Queen-size bed and one with a full-size bed) and bathroom (renovated 2016).

I lived in this beautiful house for months during the winter. It was so beautiful in the snow, truly a winter wonderland. My golden retriever still gets excited when we go past the street. We made so many beautiful memories playing in the creek and swinging over the waterfall in the huge hammock! Patrick, the landlord, was always considerate and welcoming. We would recommend this property to anyone who wants a safe and quiet haven. The state of the art flatscreen tv and dvds were terrific and the wireless a Godsend! Thanks Patrick...we hope to come back very soon...

Loved this charming little house

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I loved staying in this charming little house! It is so well decorated, all the kitchen supplies you might need are there, and we were just sad that it wasn't quite warm enough to hang out on the back deck. Our host gave us all the necessary information before we arrived, staying there was very easy, nice and toasty warm in the evenings, a Roku ready for us to watch Amazon and Netflix, everything very clean and well taken care of. It was exactly what we were looking for and I would definitely, definitely go back to this cute cottage again.

Charming Cottage - great location!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children) plus our beagle-hound mix loved our time here. The cottage was cozy and tidy - my daughter and son adored the attic bedrooms. We cooked many of our meals there and found everything we needed in the kitchen. There is a wonderful breakfast place, the General Store, with the nicest owner 5 minutes away. I enjoyed morning runs with the dog along Schoolhouse Road, and you can't beat the location. Hyde Park and the Culinary Institute are only 20 minutes away and are worth visiting. West Point is 45 minutes away. The city of Rhinebeck as well as Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Walk Bridge are also so close. This was a great get-away. The owners were wonderful to communicate with and we hope to be back soon!

Peaceful and elegant cottage in private setting.

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed here for a few days in late fall. GREAT cottage - beautifully decorated and clean. We felt immediately comfortable. One of the best places we have rented. Peaceful setting on a river and only feet away from a water fall. Yard was beautiful and we imagine it would look great in the summer when everything is in bloom!

Remote location, but only a short ride to Rhinebeck and surrounding towns. Great location for day trips to the surrounding areas. On a quiet road - we took walks every day and it was wonderful.

Highly recommended for couples who want a quiet getaway in the woods.

Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Charming Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a lovely fall weekend at this cottage. The house was very clean and very nicely decorated. It had everything we needed and was in a great location- close to many hiking trails and the wonderful town of Rhinebeck. It is so nice to be able to bring our dog on trips with us, she loved playing in the creek behind the house! The view from the deck was so beautiful. Even though it was a bit chilly, we enjoyed sitting out there with a glass of wine. Can't wait to stay again!

Authentic older home

  • 1 of 5

This was an authentic older home for sure nice location.that being said the bed was like sleeping on a cement slab, there is no water pressure. Also the river is not accessible at all and you can not see the waterfall from the deck or yard. The laundry was in a super creepy dudgeon like room on the side of the house cobwebs and insulation falling from the ceiling so I could not do a load of laundry. And watch out for poison ivy near the end of the drive. Also we received news from the owners after we returned home from vacation that a movie had been illegally down loaded while we were staying there so our names were given as the responsible party. Very very strange this is the type of thing that can ruin a vacation. Some may enjoy this home but it was not a good fit for our family will not stay here again. (FYI bring your own wash clothes as none are provided)

Owner's Response: You wrote an email to us saying that you and your wife were enjoying the cottage, so I find this review a little odd. We were also very accommodating during your stay. We answered emails and researched places in the area for your children to swim. In fact, at the time you stated that you appreciated our help. I’d like to address some of your concerns. There is no laundry room at the house, so it cannot be described as a creepy dungeon. We provide towels, hand towels, and dish rags to all of our guests. Like most other homes in the area, one could possibly find poison ivy on the property, hardly anything you’d find unexpectedly. We received notice that someone downloaded “Kingsman” during your stay. It was most likely one of your children. Like anyone else would do, we responded to the notice stating that the house was rented during the time of the download. This house was definitely not fit for your family, and we have changed our policy to no longer allow children. We returned to the house to find food on the floor, the garbage not taken out, a broken cabinet, suitcase marks on the walls, and shoe prints on the walls. All in all, it was quite a disappointment for us to see the way our house was treated during your stay. Nevertheless, we were very kind in returning your entire security deposit. To anyone reading this review, please take a look at our other reviews.
