Wonderful place....2 days before we were coming to stay at Villa Villakoola our 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Our whole world was turned upside down, but we decided to keep our Lake Arrowhead plans. We are so glad we did, as it was just the thing we needed to take a break from cancer & cuddle on the couch with movies at night, enjoy the swing, eat at some great restaurants, hear our three children giggle all together as they slept in the kids room & of course the beautiful deck where we played cards & charades. Cancer was waiting for us when we got home, but I'm happy to report that we've gotten good news & the cancer has stayed in her neck & has not spread, woohoo! We still have a road ahead of us with a surgery to get that cancer outta there, but things are looking good....we would love to come back to celebrate a cancer free Olivia!! Thanks for having us:-)
if only i could put into succinct terms what an unforgettable extended stay i had at vicky's cabin, then perhaps i could do justice to this magical place. i will do my best. it was indeed the most deeply rejuvenating, transcendent place of meditation and repose i have ever called home. often during evenings i was found on the spacious patio, breathing in the crisp mountain air and soaking in the ambient sights, sounds and smells of the placid forest. cooking was a joy in the well-stocked kitchen, which is open to the dining and living areas and is complete with all the necessary cookware/serveware/other accouterments to enjoy a tasty meal alone or in the comfort of dear friends (around a gently crackling fire on those brisk nights, of course). the very comfortable king-sized bed was a welcome place to sprawl after a long week. unfettered by the light pollution plaguing the valley floor, i could even make out constellations as i gazed out the skylight directly over the bed, which always seemed to lull me to a restful sleep.
but even the fabulous amenities could not hold a candle to vicky, who is nothing short of remarkable--a true friend and as good as they come--whose easy-going spirit made organizing the stay a breeze. a joy to interact with, she went far out of her way to make herself available via phone, email, or homeaway/vrbo site for any questions/issues. ask her about things to see/do in the area during your stay--she provided excellent recommendations to this texan that made for some mountain memories i will long treasure.
few other notes: tasty eats, shopping and other attractions are but a 6-min drive north to the lake arrowhead village on the scenic lakefront. i commuted down the mountain without issue (~35 min to highland via the 330). and while, depending on carrier, cell reception can be spotty at times (such is the case all across the mountain range), the cabin's high-speed wireless internet was reliable and indeed blazingly fast (try wifi-calling).
i could go on and on singing the cabin's praises. in short, i give it my highest recommendation. :]
My family and I came up to the cabin for my 30th birthday , as soon as we arrived the place looked awesome , it sits in a little forest kind of hidden , which we loved , the patio that over looked the lake was my favorite spot to sit early in the mornings and drink coffee and just take the whole view in. It was quite , and close enough to stores but also far enough to enjoy the ride through all the tall trees , Victoria was very awesome ! She replied immediately anytime I had a question , we just really loved it here ! I've already recommended it to three friends lol , as my very first cabin rental it couldn't of been any better . We were sad to leave lol , I'll def come back soon :) thank you Victoria 👍🏼👍🏼❤️
Arrived with my bags and groceries for the weekend, this place had everything I needed. There's a huge deck that the kids used to play and camp out with the forest backdrop. I enjoyed the lake view from the deck and the bbq grill and propane fireplace. Very easy to get to and quiet nieghborhood. House really was cozy and warm. Would most def recommend.
Overall, our family of four had a good time. The house needs some TLC. Broken tiles on the fireplace hearth, an outlet sticking out of the wall, garbage disposal not connected, and various lights that we weren't able to figure out how to turn on. The pedestal sink in the bathroom needed to be bolted down and the TV in the master needs to be moved to the other side of the room, not on the nightstand. Also, the carpeting needs to be replaced (dirty and ripped seams), no remote for TV downstairs, and a parking area that was hard to get in and out of.
Quick weekend trip up to the mountains was exactly what we needed: Relaxing and comfortable. Victoria was responsive when we had questions and generally did everything she could to make sure we had a pleasant stay. The cabin itself is comfortable and in a great location up the hill from the Arrowhead village. We found it to be a perfect location. We will probably be back!
