This renovated, semi-detached property is part of a 17th century farmhouse on the outskirts of Brillac and close to the medieval town of Confolens on the Vienne River. There is a private swimming pool (15 ft diameter, 3 ft deep) and a children's climbing frame with swing and slide. There are French doors from the first floor lounge onto a balcony with steps down to the garden and pool area. This area has many lakes ideal for fishing, golf courses and other attractions including Vallee des Singes, Futuroscope and Oradour-sur-Glane. Shop, café/bar and restaurant 7 km. We spent a lovely lazy two weeks in Le Vignaud in the latter half of September.
The Gite, with its winding stairs and old beams, has everything you need to help you relax and chill out.
The living room is really spacious with lovely French windows and the adjoining balcony is a real sun trap. The swimming pool is a great asset and we managed to make use of it even though it was late September.
Our hosts, Carol and Pete, who live next door, never encroached or our privacy, but were always available if needed.
Le Vignaud is an ideal base for exploring the local villages / towns /cities.
We were pleasantly surprised to find the ‘Full Irish Breakfast’ on offer in Confolens! If you are in the area be sure to visit the Irish Belle opposite the Church (and tell Mary we sent you!)
We will definitely return to Le Vignaud when next visiting this region.
