Wonderful location on the beach
We had the most wonderful two weeks at the Queen of the Sands Sealodge. The owner is very friendly and helpful.
Located on an almost deserted beach, the property looks out to views of the sea, with breezes flowing through the house lulling you to sleep peacefully with sounds of the waves.
We were two young couples, so the property was spacious enough to have your own privacy, with two bathrooms and showers for convenience and a living area and kitchen in the centre, with screened porches, one at the rear (overlooking the car park and road, which is also the front door) and the porch at the front where it overlooks the beach and other sea lodges with palm trees and lights along the paths at night. The front porch is where we sat and had wonderful candle lit dinners while enjoying the warm breeze in the evenings under the stars.
The beach is lovely, white sand, palm trees, rocky in a few places so be careful, and look out for the sparkles in the sea at night which is due to phosphorescence, beautiful. Great for snorkelling too, we saw manta rays, sting rays, barracuda, conch and lobsters and an array of tropical fish.
The water gets a little choppy sometimes, but still refreshing. Rum Point is 2 minutes away by car and the water here is as still as can be, but get there early and avoid public holidays or weekends as it gets so busy with locals and tourists alike. Great bar and food there, as well as at Kaibo for a nice bar on the water and a very lovely restaurant upstairs for a special evening out.
Fosters Supermarket is 20 minutes away for larger shopping and Chisholms is 10 minutes for basic items. Over the Edge do great breakfasts, lunches and dinner, and Driftwood is an all American bar with a pool table and TV screens if you need to watch your sports. Also great basic food.
Great things to do nearby such as the blow holes or the botanic park, but it's only a 40 minute drive to Seven Mile Beach so go and spend a day up there. (Try to steer clear of the Dolphin Discovery places as the dolphins are captive and this is very cruel)
All in all we had a wonderful time. Lots of diving and relaxing and making friends on the beach in the evenings under the stars with a rum punch. A perfect location on the beach for relaxing. I'd recommend this property to couples, families, friends. Car definitely required, but lovely walks up to Rum Pointe and Kaibo.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home, we'll return for sure.
