JUST CHILL ON BONAIRE!: So you don't want to go anywhere so what do you do on Bonaire? Simply throw on some snorkel gear and check out the Caribbean sea life and grea coral. The waters are shallow and reefs go on and on. Take a nature hike with or without a guide. The trail is easy to follow and you'll see local flora and fauna- parrots, lizards, iguanas, and so much more. Take a dip in the oceanfront MagnaPool or just relax in one of the chaise lounges by the sea or on the pool deck. You really do forget to count the days when you are by the sea!
Activities & Dining Near Villa Crown Ridge: There is great snorkelling in front of the house and several excellent dive operations nearby. The tropical trade winds generally blow from east to west. On the east coast of Bonaire is Lac, a bay closed off from the ocean by a coral reef lying in knee-deep water. The bay is an ideal windsurfing location. The fast-growing group of kite surfers can get their adrenaline pumping on the island's west coast, near 'Atlantis': a former diving location at the southern end of the island. Lac is about 15 minutes away and is a fun way to spend the day. Rent a windsurf board or rent a paddle boat, take a snorkel trip or dive trip, shop in the gift shop or just enjoy the beach dining. RumRunners is also just 1,5 miles drive where there is a wonderful restaurant and bar. In Kralendijk you will find a lot of restaurants one of our favourites is “It’s Rains Fishes” but if you want a more formal and romantic spot, just head to the Tipsy Seagull, you will feel like a god on Bonaire!
We LOVED your place! It was pristine and beautiful, and had everything we needed. Your cleaning staff were very professional and polite. And your thoughtfulness was beyond wonderful ---- Thank you SO much for the champagne and cheeses! This was truly one of the most wonderful stays we've ever experienced and we will be back!
My family and I stayed at Crown Ridge the week before Christmas. When we walked in the door, I knew we had made the right choice of lodging. The fully equipped kitchen was up-to-date modern, with nice china and glassware. Comfy couch, RV, and table and chairs. The bedrooms were lovely, with simple handsome furniture, clean white high-quality sheets and bedding and towels were a real bonus. The master bedroom and bath suite were elegant, with double doors leading to a private patio area. The pool was a nice place to rinse off after swimming in the sea. The lounge chairs were sturdy with mats for comfort. The periwinkle blue stairs led to the beach with easy shore access to wonderful snorkeling and scuba diving. We were in the water 2-3 times per day and watched the sun set and the stars come up. It was the best vacation ever and we love Bonaire and will definitely return--and Crown Ridge.
This is a very beautiful villa, clean, modern, high quality and well maintained villa. One of the nicest places we have stayed at. Perfect access to a good dive site down a few steps; wonderful patio with sunsets over the ocean every night, beautiful pool, deck chairs, and even a gazebo with cushions for relaxing. Extremely well equipped with modern kitchen appliances and utensils. Very clean and also a very responsive property manager.
I would say this was perfect and would have given this a five star rating BUT for the really bad mosquito problem. We live in Florida and also have spent many years in third world countries in the tropics, so we know mosquitoes. But the swarms of mosquitoes around the side of the villa and under the patio were not normal, and were the only thing that made our stay less than perfect. I traced them to one source and told the property manager who vowed to treat after we left. It's a shame because mosquito control is not difficult - identify the standing water and spray the area regularly. We spent many hours zapping the dozens of skeeters that came in the villa every time we opened the patio door - time that could have been spent relaxing.
I still strongly recommend this property, but advise any potential renters to be sure to get confirmation that management are practicing regular mosquito control.
we spent a week in paradise, A beautiful home on the beach.
I can't say enough good things about this property. My husband, 8 year old son, and I just got back from a week at Benno and Suzanne's Crown Ridge Villa. The villa, surrounding property, and ocean view are beautiful. We have rented many properties over the years and this one by far was the cleanest and well taken care of. The owners and property management go out of their way to make the villa perfect for a stay in Bonaire. We appreciated the arrival walk though Inge gave us to learn about the amenities and security features of the villa. The kitchen is well stocked and had exactly what we needed for cooking casual meals. The grill was very clean and very functional. The beds and linens are comfortable and clean, and there's a perfect amount of storage space. The outdoor patio and pool area is wonderful (did I mention clean?) and feel like you're staying at your own private resort. Even though there are other villas close by, it is very private and quiet. We appreciated the outdoor shower and rinse sink for cleaning dive/snorkel gear. Iguanas often sat on the rooftops and watched us swim in the pool and shower! The landscaping around the villa is also beautiful and very well maintained. The Andreas I and II dive sites are right off of the beach behind the villa and the entry point is just steps away (literally about 25 steps). Our son is too young to dive but I think we saw just as much sea life snorkeling as we did diving. You just stick your face in the water and there are fish everywhere. One evening we came across a turtle that swam within 2 feet of us for about 15 minutes. It was an incredible experience and one that we've never had before. The sunsets over the ocean behind the villa are lovely and the covered back deck area is great. The worst part about our stay were the tears my son cried as we flew back to the states. He didn't want to leave so I promised we will return to this fantastic place. Thank you to Benno and Suzanne for sharing your wonderful home!
My wife and I had an awesome vacation in Bonaire, and this house met or exceeded all of our expectations. It was clean, well maintained and is in a near perfect location. All the pictures are accurate The patio is large and private with gorgeous views. I dove Andrea 1 several times and had no problems getting in or out. This is a small thing but very much appreciated: the house was supplied with paper products and soaps. We've stayed in several houses were this wasn't the case, so this was a very nice surprise and convenience. We didn't cook much because we enjoy the Bonaire restaurants so much, but the kitchen is very well supplied, and there is a grill. Did I mention the view!? I can't tell you how much time we spent just relaxing with a drink and gazing at the ocean. By the way, the bed was oh so comfortable too. We will definitely come back sometime.
We had an excellent time at this property. The villa was beautiful and the back of the property was very private. We enjoyed sitting in the deck chairs with our morning coffee looking at the amazing ocean view.It was also so convenient to be able to put on our dive gear and walk right down the stairs at the back,to dive at the Andrea 1 dive site. We would recommend this villa to anyone.
Welcome to Bonaire!
Many descriptions and slogans have been written about Bonaire: Best Kept Secret, Unhurried, Unspoiled, Unforgettable; Diver's Paradise; and the list goes on... The fact is that all these statements are true, and then some. Another truth is the statistic that over 55% of arrivals on Bonaire are repeat visitors!
There are a number of reasons people visit our island. First timers generally have heard about the climate, the water, the sun and what there is to do. When asked, repeat visitors generally say that they did not have enough time to do all they wanted to on their first visit. 'It is the warmth and friendliness of the people' that keeps visitors returning year after year.
Bonaire has the reputation of being laid back, slower paced and very tranquil. The good news is that while this is all quite true, the island also offers a lively nightlife, fun places to visit and world class restaurants
