We are two lifelong friends who bought this building to live in. We remodeled it completely for ourselves with 5 star extras, and later converted it to a vacation rental.
Bob purchased this apartment in 2000
Our building is very close to everything in Chicago, including our convention center, McCormick Place. You are in a quiet and safe neighborhood, but the city center and all of our major attractions are very close. It's the best of both worlds.
You will love our deck with the amazing view of the Chicago city skyline, our hot tub, and our huge steam bath shower with multiple Grohe Body Sprays. It is like a massage.
We are ½ mile from the I-94 Dan Ryan Expressway. It is a 5 minute drive to Lake Shore Drive and another 10-15 minutes from there to the Museums, Navy Pier, Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue shopping and every major attraction in this city.
When we lived in this building ourselves, we would always be able to get to the lakefront and all of our major attractions in 10 to 20 minutes, even in traffic. If there is a concert, or major festival on the lakefront. we can show you a local shortcut to make great travel time to our city center and skip any traffic.
This comment was emailed to me from a nice family that stayed with us at the end of September, 2008.
We all had a marvelous time at your condo! It doesn't get much better than stomping all over Chicago, and arriving "home" to a hot tub...and then seeing fireworks from the Navy Pier and stadium from the rooftop! You have definitely invested in all the important items (kitchen and bathroom appliances and hot tub). Everything else was comfortable (furniture, bedrooms etc.). If we are returning to Chicago, we shall definitely contact you first.
This is a nice apartment with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The apartment is well kept and has all necessary amenities. For us a very important feature was that it has a garage with space for one car. This was very important because parking spaces in the street are limited particularly is there is a baseball game. Because we were almost all day at the McCormick convention center, we did not use almost any of the amenities included in the apartment, but they were indeed readily available. The neighborhood was quiet and our stay was pleasant.
The apartment was not fancy but very comfortable. The rooms were decently decorated and had plenty of room for hanging clothes. The place was clean and provided pretty much anything u needed. I didn't get a chance to use the hot tub but that was a nice plus. And having a garage to park in was definitely a plus. We never had a problem finding a parking place even when the six were playing. Had a great sandwich down the street at the pub. Connies down the road was good to.
It was a great experience! Bob was really helpful and the place was really homely and clean.
My family stayed at this property for our Christmas vacation. The home is in a great location -- a quiet neighborhood, yet convenient to the highway. We appreciated the extra pillows and blankets, as well as all of the kitchen amenities. Plus, it was nice having both a dining room table and a kitchen table, so we could work and enjoy family meals together. Bob was also responsive and friendly.
The home is cozy and beautiful with 3 bedrooms. Couch is also very comfortable. Beautiful bathroom, bedrooms with huge closet space and hangers, comfy couch, nice kitchen with everything you need, AC unit worked well and nice hot tub that we did not get a chance to use. Internet was fast and they had cable/dish network with plenty of channels to watch. The house is close to the White Sox stadium which is less than 5 minutes driving. The owner does have parking passes so you can park near the stadium. I'm not sure if the car is included in the rental package but I did see a set of car keys. We did not use it since we were visiting from out of town so we didn't know area that well. Also, we didn't want to be liable for damages. There was a couple stores near the area such as a deli place so its nice to have a store near by walking distance if your from out of town and don't want to eat at fancy places all the time. The owner himself is very tentative to our needs, always replying back to our messages promptly. I thought the area we were was going to be bad since it was near Southside but I did not see anything out of the ordinary. It's a very safe area to be at if you guys have any concerns. Chicago was an amazing experience that I did not expect always things to do.
The best thing for me was that I could park my car in the garage and leave it. I did not want to drive around a busy City and risk an accident or a ticket. An Uber Ride Into the Heart of the attractions was $7 to $10 or even less if you would carpool. The hot tub was great after a long day of walking. The floors definitely could have been cleaner. But all of the linnens, bathrooms and kitchens were clean. Two of the beds were comfortable. We didn't try the third one. No problems with the TV or the Wi-Fi. The front door could have been sturdier . It open into a vestibule and there was another door which really should have had to deadbolt on the inside. I was very pleased with my stay over all.

Ours is a 2 unit building. If you need more space, you can rent both apartments and you'd have the entire building. Our guests who do that really enjoy that. Our other apartment is HomeAway listing number 271945
We have a few main policies that we prefer to discuss up front. We know that these don't apply to 99% of our guests, but we have learned the hard way that these need to be discussed before we reserve a rental for a guest.
We don’t allow parties or gatherings of any kind. We only rent our apartments for lodging. Noise late at night or excessive noise anytime is very disturbing to our neighbors and other guests, so our rentals are definitely not a good fit for the very late night or very hard partying crowd. We do not rent to guests coming for music festivals or concerts. A few groups ruined that for everyone.
