Paris Personified—Where 19th Century Charm Meets Modern Elegance - EARLY ARRIVAL? We try to accomodate early arrivals and will provide coffee and pastries, if you wish - no charge, just tell us!!! For BEST RATES contact us NOW!

Hello from Ralph & Karen!

We own, operate, and spoil this 2-bedroom apartment, Le Trésor de Montmartre, above the cobblestone streets of Paris’s iconic Montmarte neighborhood. After months and months spent prepping and perfecting this 19th century apartment, nothing makes us happier than the many positive reviews we get from our guests.

Parisian touches inside include designer furnishings, watercolour hues, and the warm glow of chandeliers. Throw open the shuttered windows and listen to the quiet in this tucked-away part of the city—the perfect refuge after a day of “touristing.”

Call us for more details.

Set in the iconic Montmartre neighborhood of central Paris. Here cobblestone streets and rich history meet, and artists such as, Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Dali, and Toulouse-Lautrec practiced their art. Montmartre was the centre of free-wheeling and decadent entertainment at the turn of the 20th century. No doubt you’ve heard of the era’s popular cabarets including the Moulin Rouge, Le Chat Noir, and Lapin Agile.

Now, locals stroll with fresh groceries and duck into their favorite cafes. Yet the neighborhood retains its artistic vibe, and you can still enjoy five-star dining or take in a show at the local cabaret. And, in the midst of this historic backdrop, you’ll find our lovely vacation rental, Le Trésor de Montmartre, which features classical French architecture for a seamless Parisian experience.

Le Trésor de Montmartre is a beauty created from muted, watercolor-inspired hues, natural light, lovely cross-breezes in summertime, and the warm glow of chandeliers. Authentic crown molding, French doors, and two original, ceramic ornamental fireplaces preserve the apartment’s vintage 19th century charm, while upgrades like a sleek new kitchen, elegant luxury bathroom, and even an office space with a printer, free WiFi, free long distance phone calls remind you of our modern day’s advantages*. We even have an elevator, which makes hauling your luggage and daily groceries upstairs a breeze!

The open living area invites you to gather with your family for an unhurried conversation on plush furniture near floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Montmartre, or at the glass dining table with Phillip Starck-designed seating for four. An adjacent kitchen provides a four-burner flat top stove, a refrigerator, and a microwave/oven combination set against a sleek tile backsplash.

Through a set of shaded French doors, access the office space, which also doubles as an extra bedroom, thanks to the sofa that converts to a queen-sized bed (its comfort will be a pleasant surprise!). There is a convenient desk for your laptop, should you need to work [hope not!!] or browse the 'net.

A master bedroom, also entered through shaded French doors, calls to you at the end of the day. The queen-sized bed is fitted with supremely soft sheets and a pile of downy pillows. A large window opens to the quiet, cobblestone street and a traditional Montmartre stairway, made famous by several French films set here. When you want to block out the outside world for a bit—after a long flight, or during bright summer nights maybe—heavy curtains over the windows make all the difference.

Wait until you see the bathroom, which is located off the living room. It’s quite large by Parisian standards, luxurious, and outfitted with all the best amenities—from a rainfall showerhead, to a deep soaker tub, to a vanity with plenty of space for all of your toiletries. Sink into a long, hot bath with a glass of wine at hand and a collection of our ultra-plush towels warming in the heated towel rack.

Located on a quiet side street, Le Trésor de Montmartre is just a two-minute walk from the cafes, restaurants, grocers, wine shops, cheese shops, chocolate shops, and butchers that together create that feeling—the one that belongs to Paris alone. Begin your morning with coffee and croissants from the boulangerie down the street. Later enjoy a quiet dinner party with your friends as you sip wine and sample cheese. For more far-flung exploring, the metro or bus are just a few minutes away by foot.

Le Trésor de Montmartre is a true gem in central Paris.

About Ralph & Karen Moorhouse

After visiting Paris many times, we knew we wanted to spend a lot more time in this amazing city. After many kilometers walking around the city, we found this apartment in 2007 and after an extensive renovation we have a 'home' that we like to share.

Ralph & Karen Moorhouse purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Ralph & Karen Moorhouse chose 18th Montmartre

One week, two weeks, or even a year are not enough time to really get to know Paris. You can explore forever and always find something fascinating and enjoyable.

Guests tell us time and time again how much they enjoy the neighborhood with its multitude of restaurants, bistros, food stores all within 5 minutes walk. Perhaps mostly they enjoy the 'feel' of being a 'local', yest being close to the main touristic attractions of Paris and beyond

What makes this apartment unique

We will help make your trip easy and special. Let us know your special needs and interests, we are here to share our love of Paris with you.

Cosy and romantic

A great place to stay in Paris. This was our 4th stay in Paris, and we were concerned about staying out in Montmartre, but we found it to be very central and easy to get around the whole city, by foot or subway. The apt. itself is clean and very nicely decorated. The details, and attention to small things did not go unnoticed. We are recommending it to some friends who will be taking their honeymoon in Paris. That says it all! Thank you!

Owner's Response: Tammy: appreciate your kind comments and referral. Many may hestitate about staying in Montmartre rather than in the Marais or St Germaine, but as you discovered, it is easy to access the main tourist sites and best of all, you have a fabulous neighborhood to return to. with lots a of great restaurants and foodshops but without hoards of tourists. Hope to see you again. Thanks - R&K

A very quiet street, not far from the Metro, with many good choices nearby for lunch, dinner, or shopping. Owners and agents were extremely responsive and supportive. The apartment is handsome and up to date, felt like France, with a modern kitchen and bath, comfortable bed, gadgets, and generous landline use policy. Housekeeping is up to snuff. Financial details were handled without any hassle.

Owner's Response: John – thanks for your kind feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Sounds like you now know why we love this neighborhood – so many great eating and watering holes within a short walk yet only a short metro ride to the sights. We enjoy making your stay as hassle-free as possible and communication is our big focus. You were the 1st to receive our free early check-in and pastries/coffee offer and I believe it hit the spot after a long overnight trip! Hope we can ‘see’ you again in Paris or Nice. Best wishes to you all from R&K

First Class Property and Managment

  • 5 of 5

We chose this property for its fabulous location in Montmartre. It is tough to find a quiet, private property in Paris that is still right in the middle of classic Parisian dining, shopping, and attractions.

Le Tresor de Montmarte is located on a small dead end street (with steps up to the main street). It was easy for our driver to find and easy to load and unload luggage without feeling rushed. The apartment is on the 4th floor, very private and quiet.

The neighborhood has everything you need right at hand. Our favorite bakery was just up the stairs on Rue de Caulincourt. There are numerous cafes and bars on the this street and some small markets and wine shops as well. Sacre Coeur and the artist's market are just up the hill.

What we appreciated the most was the professional management and care of the apartment. The owners, Ralph & Karen, ensured everything was in order from start to finish. The managers in Paris, David & Sophie, made sure we felt secure and at home. The apartment itself was fabulous (just see the photos). We had plenty of room for a family of four.

I highly recommend the Tresor de Montmarte for your stay in Paris.

Owner's Response: Greg: thanks for such an extensive review and its always pleasing when guest enjoy [and appreciate] our neighborhood like we do. We wore out a few sneakers walking around Paris before we found our apartment and having the iconic Montmartre step was the icing on the cake. We take pride in providing our guest with as much [& more] information before they arrive so they are well prepared. David & Sophia do a great job helping guests settle in and are available throughout the stay [ as are we] in case of questions/problems. Sorry we didn’t see your photos. Best wishes for 2016 – hope to see you again soon. R&K

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay, we appreciate your feedback - we try to keep the apartment to a high standard. We always try our best to communicate with our guests so we can help ensure they know the local area and what to do around the city....and sometimes beyond. We really enjoy being able to share our insider knowledge of Paris and France so our guests can do both the standard tourist stuff and also check out a few sites and restuarants that are not on the typical itinerary. Hope we see you again in Paris or Nice. Best wishes. R&K

What a lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this flat from Dec 26-Dec 30, 2015 and everything was lovely and easy! Ralph was really responsive and helpful before we even left...we have just started using rental properties (vs. hotels) and if it's this seamless, then we'll do this all the time! Check in was easy and informative...Unfortunately, my partner and our daughter were deathly ill when they arrived so they immediately settled in comfortably. I, on the other hand, went out exploring the first day and cannot say how nice the location was! The Metro station was so close and there were many eateries and places to feed my sick travel partners...best of all, i enjoyed the nice bathtub...at the end of the day, i was tired and appreciated a nice place to relax ...I'd definitely come back and recommend this flat to my friends and family :)

Owner's Response: Allie; Glad you had an enjoyable stay at our apartment and it was a shame that your friends were sick. On the positive side they were able to recuperate in comfort with your help – as you noted this is one of the advantages of an apartment over a hotel room – you have room to spread out, have most of the facilities of home and can eat in as needed with supplies for local stores. We have to agree on the bathtub – one of the most comfortable we have experienced. Hope you were all able to get in the food tour you had planned and that the rest of your holiday was fun. Thanks for the kind review – we hope to see you or your friends back again in Paris. R&K

Montmartre: The Soul of Paris: After more than two decades of exploring Paris and its diverse arrondissements, we concluded that nowhere in Paris is more enthralling, and quintessentially Parisian, than La Butte de Montmartre. Guests at our apartment, Le Tresor de Montmartre, agree: whimsical, beautiful Montmartre feels almost untouched by modern influence. It's as if the world stopped turning during France’s Belle Époque. In fact, some of our guests are so drawn to Montmartre’s time-capsule qualities, they end up spending their whole trip in just this one arrondissement.

Picture cobblestone streets, flowering Bougainvillea vines, window shutters painted vibrant colors, and the white domes of the Sacré Coeur presiding over it all. Climb the steps to the Sacré Coeur, take a few more steps into the belly of the dome, and be presented with an unbeatable panorama of Paris:

A creative, bohemian heart beats here, and has for centuries. Montmartre is where Picasso, Monet, Dali, van Gogh and other modernists created the masterpieces that changed art forever, and where the Moulin Rouge introduced its raucous cabaret in 1889.

Today, artists gather at the many cafés and boulangeries that perfume the air with delicate pastries and loaves of crusty bread. At the square, Place du Tertre, artists set up their easels and paint portraiture for tourists in the open air.

Meanwhile, at the base of the hill, Moulin Rouge’s dancers still Cancan dance underneath an iconic neon-lit windmill.

Our apartment, Le Trésor de Montmartre, is walkable to these and many more of Montmartre’s highlights. On foot, we’re 10 minutes to Sacré Coeur, 10-15 minutes to the Moulin Rouge, and 5 minutes to the metro—an easy, cost-effective way to see all of Paris. We're also 2 minutes from the city bus. We’re located below the Place du Tertre (Montmartre’s square), and we’re reachable on foot by the staircases of the Rue des Saules, the funicular at Abbess, or the small train in Montmartre.

The nearest metro is Lamarck/Caulaincourt (Line 12). This metro is only 8 stops from the Concorde station—15 minutes, no changes needed—which is the station for the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Champs Elysee, the Eiffel Tower, and the Bateaux Mouches on the Seine.
