Bright, Cheerful, Comfortable 2 Bedroom Kensington Flat

Bedrooms 2
Space 770 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 1 - 4 nights

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

We live in Florida, this is our London home. We visit it at least once per year. We have come to know this area very well and truly enjoy its many attractions as well as the excellent access to the West End and the major tourist sites.

The flat is bright, cheerful, and spacious. All rooms have large windows. The kitchen and the two bedrooms have a Western exposure. The living room, bathroom and toilet (which are separate rooms) have an Eastern exposure. The large master bedroom has a very comfortable USA king-size bed and ample wardrobe and drawer space. The second bedroom has two large single beds and ample wardrobe space. For the 'fifth' person we use an air mattress in the living room.

The living room has comfortable seating for four people as well as a large 37' flat screen TV (with Freeview and SKY TV), radio, CD/tape player, and a DVD player. Free broadband internet connection (wireless or cable) is available. A printer may be connected to your laptop. International phone calls are free to landlines in many (36) countries. The kitchen is large enough that four people can eat around the table and not impede someone preparing food. It is fully-equipped to service six people.

The flat is located on the second floor (third floor by USA definition) of a picturesque Mansion block built in 1896. It does not have a lift. Access to the stair well to the flat is by a key or by remotely unlocking the door after verifying the caller’s identity via TV cameras. The mansion block is located at the end of a cul-de-sac and road noise is almost non-existent.

West Kensington Underground station is a seven minute walk from the building. It is on the District line and is three stops from the Knightsbridge shopping district and seven stops from Westminster Abbey/Houses of Parliament.

A five minute walk to Hammersmith High Street will give you access to multiple bus routes taking you up Kensington High Street, through Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner into the West End of London.

There are half a dozen restaurants and the same number of 'take outs' that can be reached in under ten minutes. The large, superb Tesco Supermarket is a ten minute walk. There are green-grocers and smaller supermarket shops on the way to the Underground station, which are closer to the flat. There is a dry cleaner, video rental store, liquor store, news-agent, and 3 eating places all within five minutes of the flat.

There is a large multi-screen cinema at the bottom of Kensington High Street - a 12-15 minute walk. For tennis fans, the Queen’s Club tennis facility is a 15 minute walk and Earl’s Court Underground station (a 12 minute walk) offers a direct (six stops) connection to Wimbledon. The flat is less than a 10 minute walk to the Olympia and Earl's Court exhibition halls. Holland Park - peaceful and relaxing - is a 15 minute walk.

Please note that our pricing is in British Pounds. This listing may reflect prices in your 'local' currency. These numbers are approximate and will change as the exchange rate changes.

Please note that our cancellation policy is NOT correctly indicated on this website. We refund all monies paid, on a per night basis, for the cancelled nights that we re-rent.

Our family of four stayed here for 9 days in London. Very conveniently located to the underground which made for a great stay and easy access to anything you might want to see. Quiet, comfortable apartment, safe and lovely neighborhood, comfy beds, equipped kitchen, easy TV, and WiFi worked great. Bathroom shower a little tricky to use at first, but you figure it out. Washer, dryer and dishwasher easy to use. We cooked some and the access to a local grocery store was important to us. Recommend highly

Cozy apartment in quiet but central area of London

  • 4 of 5

This is a well appointed apartment in a quiet residential street. It is well situated and useful for visiting the museums or for traveling into central London. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surrounding streets, a pleasant surprise only a few minutes from some very busy roads! There is an overland train line immediately behind the apartment block, which provides some noise but the double glazing meant that it wasn't a problem. There is a large Tesco less than 10 minutes walk away, and a number of restaurants nearby, or at Earls Court. We also found the bus very useful to High Street Kensington and Hyde Park.

The apartment is well appointed, which a useful collection of guidebooks to use. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well. David was friendly and helpful, providing a lot of information pre-visit via his website.

Loved this charming & comfortable home away from home in London!

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as pictured, very comfortable, tidy, and well-stocked with everything you need. We used the stove, oven, refrigerator, washer, dryer, coffee maker, toaster, hair dryer, TV, CD player & radio and found all the appliances to be good quality and in working order. Big windows on both side of the flat provide bright, natural cross lighting and a sunny spot for morning breakfast in the kitchen with interesting street life to watch. The location of the flat was great with quick access to the West Kensington tube station (and two easy alternates when that one was closed), a large Tesco superstore and Pizza Pronto. The neighborhood felt safe and was quiet, as was the unit itself. Other residents in the building that we ran into were friendly and helpful. Communication was excellent with the owner who was very responsive in answering questions and providing good details about the rental. We would definitely stay here again. It felt like real life living in the big city!

Clean, well-organized, and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this flat with our adult children in summer 2017. Everything went very smoothly. The owner was exceptionally responsive and helpful, the flat was clean and well-stocked, and the information about getting to the flat, getting in, etc. was very clear. The flat is convenient to groceries and restaurants, so was great for eating out or cooking in. Beds were comfortable and linens were up-to-date. Several tube stops were within reasonable walking distance. The neighborhood and building were quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

Adorable Flat!

  • 5 of 5

This flat was such a great fit for my family of four! Super easy access to two tube stations, as well as the bus steps away. Didn't try out the bus till a bit later in the visit, but enjoyed it much more than the tube - and it was included in 7 day travel pass. Plus easy access nearly direct from Heathrow on tube. Flat was clean and well appointed. Convenient mini-grocery, main grocery just a bit further on. Indian restaurant as recommended in the flat book was great. Spent a full week enjoying the sights of London and felt great to come back to the flat each night and relax while the kids went to bed. The flat was not fancy, but just what we needed! Train going by not even remotely bothersome - just a friendly reminder of city life. Hope to come back again one day!!

This flat worked so well for our April 2017 visit.

  • 5 of 5

I don't give as much feedback as maybe I should but I'm usually time crunched after taking time off. This experience needs to be shared however, it's a property and owner deserving to be mentioned. My family likes to live within a budget, we can add by subtracting just a little. I looked at this property because of it's price, configuration for my wife and 2 kids, it's appearance of cleanliness and care, it's proximity to the train stop and our ability to get in from Heathrow without a lot of hassle. The owners are long-time owners, the property was well reviewed, booking was straightforward with quick and clear emails.

This property and owners are 5 star in these and other criteria for judging a property. Most importantly is how this flat helped us have an even better vacation. We figured out the transit system pretty easily and at our first kiosk to buy the Oyster Card at Heathrow we got help from transit employees to buy just the right amount for our stay. From there London is pretty easy to get around but keep rush hours in mind and factor in sidewalk crowds and London Traffic. The British people we met were delightful! Foreign travel where everything is in English is something we haven't done a lot but could get used to. We had the good fortune of meeting The Plummers, a lovely couple, who were leaving the day of our arrival.

Everything in the property worked. It's uncomplicated, uncluttered, comfortable, and family friendly. There is working wifi. The neighborhood is quiet, I slept better with the windows open and not a peep. The flat is on the third floor but stairs were no issue for us, we liked it. At first feeling more secure being higher up was comforting but we felt secure everywhere in London. The photo of the kitchen view is real, the neighborhood is a little mixed in ages, styles, sizes, etc and there is some construction but it was all still clean, no big deal at all for us. This area is more suburban residential and a bit less expensive than other parts of London. No shopping here or sidewalk dining but there's a big bar on the corner that was always packed when we were coming and going. Not many places to eat between the West Kennsington train stop and the flat but the Turkish place was very good, try it. We had good leftovers for a few days too. My son and I stepped into the barber shop on the boulevard for a cut and a nice razor shave. The shops had basics and were convenient. Enjoy London!
