The home offers all the amenities needed for the perfect family holiday but also provides an ideal private retreat for a romantic getaway.

A great location on a quiet dead end lane with 120 foot waterfront on the largest inlet of Shelter bay, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, water-skiing and clamming, and just a short walk to the private Long Island Sound beach, exclusively available to renters of Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast and Property Management vacation rentals.

Other popular activities include bicycling the miles of rural roadways, golf at the spectacular Island’s End golf course close by, fishing the LI Sound and inlets, wine tours and tastings at local vineyards, deep water charters, tall ship harbor cruises and boat tours of the 12 local light houses and spectacular ocean views, bays and creeks.

Southold is located on one of the narrowest stretches of the North Fork on the far east end of New York’s Long Island, where the land juts out into the Atlantic Ocean and the Long Island Sound almost meets Shelter Bay. Our private Long Island Sound beach offers views of the Connecticut shore line on the horizon across 20 miles of ocean water to the North.

To view an interactive map showing the location of the house in relation to the nearby Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast which manages the property, and see locations of vineyards, restaurants, marinas, beaches, museums and nature preserves visit the Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast web site. Click on the tab for the Area Attractions page and then the specific amenity you are interested in.

Note how close we are to the nearby maritime village of Greenport, named one of top ten prettiest towns by Forbes magazine in 2011. From Greenport you can take the car ferry or water taxi to Shelter Island and Sag Harbor and the Hamptons or tour the harbor in tall ships. Southold Hamlet only 2 miles to the south is an historic village with interesting shopping, and an historic district consisting of over 18 buildings dating from the early 18th and 19th centuries as well as the Custer Institute Indian museum and observatory, a great place to go star watching.

The area is famous for having over 40 wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms, dozens of farms and farm stands for the freshest of organic produce, fresh caught fish available right on the dock, plus miles of beaches and nature preserves including the Audubon center and bird sanctuary just 5 minutes drive from the house,

Some very talented chefs have been attracted to the North Fork because of the abundance of fresh local produce from the farms, vineyards and sea, so it is also home to some of the best Zagat rated restaurants on Long Island including the North Fork Table and Inn in Southold and The Frisky Oyster in Greenport. Alure in Southld and Noah’s in Greenport are amongst the many excellent restaurants we recommend to guests

Just15 minutes from Orient Point and the Cross Sound ferry to New London Connecticut and half hour to Riverhead and the Long Island Expressway to all points west this is a uniquely pastoral sea side setting to be found within such easy traveling distance from major Metropolitan areas.

Regarding Short Term Rental Laws: The Town of Southold recently passed legislation requiring a minimum stay of 14 nights in private homes. We can rent for shorter periods of time but we cannot create another separate reservation within the same 14 night period. Therefore in the case that we accept a shorter stay we will block out the unused nights and only charge for those being occupied.

We are currently offering generous discounts on a stay of 14 nights or longer.
Please note that this minimum night law only applies to residential properties and does not apply to Bed and Breakfast Inns, hotels or motels or other licensed or commercial lodging facilities.

Shorecrest Property Management owns and manages the Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast in Southold. Please feel free to contact Innkeeper/Manager Marilyn Marks with any questions.

Perfection by the water
We had a wonderful three weeks at this pristinely clean and sumptuously comfortable house. Our host, Marilyn, was attentive to every question and made us feel completely at home. We were sad to leave, and look forward to returning in the future!
