While on vacation to Lake Kabatogama we fell in love with the area, found a property that had been for sale for over 10 years, bought and started building our dream vacation home.
This is a guest house next to the main cabin, built to share with our friends and guest to enjoy as much as we have.
Lots of room with river and lake view from every window, very private.
We wanted to thank-you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful guest home. It truly was gorgeous, we were fortunate to stay in such a wonderful home. The location was amazing our sledding was fantastic! Marilyn was very accommodating, she is such a kind person. We hope you will allow us to stay at your guest home again. We already would love to come back the weekend of March 10th. I will send a contact message via your web site. We also have friends that would like to come the first weekend in March and have asked that I give them your contact information, I will give them your web site info.

We stayed at the cabin during a recent trip to Voyagers National Park. It is perfectly located 20 minutes from the Ash Lake Visitor Center and 40 minutes from Crane Lake.
The cabin itself was very well maintained, stocked, and comfortable. It felt better then home!
The dock was a great place to sit and relax or catch small mouth bass if you fish. It is situated on a great lake to canoe and boat as well.
Overall, a great place to stay and we will gladly return!
We were blown away by this cabin! We've rented other cabins up north and been very pleased, but this one wins. It is beautifully decorated and well-stocked (though I'd recommend bringing seasonings, wine bottle opener, etc). The land that the cabin sits on is gorgeous and well-manicured and the lake so peaceful! The owners were not there the weekend we visited, but were very responsive and friendly to a few questions we had and the caretaker was immediately available when we needed something. We brought our 18 month old fur-baby with us and she so enjoyed her first family vacation. She couldn't believe that she could roam the area free, run to her hearts content and swim all the day long. She was so exhausted every night, she slept well!
There is plenty of space in this cabin, plenty of towels, the weather was perfect while we were there, so it was plenty cool. We can't wait to get back to this cabin in the fall hopefully and see what a different season has to offer!
Thank you for the wonderful getaway!
The cabin exceeded our expectations. We stayed 11 nights. The lake was very quiet and peaceful; we had it to ourselves most days. Although we didn't catch many fish, we had a great time trying. We spent lots of time kayaking around the lake and into the streams that flow into/out of it. We spent many evenings sharing stories and s'mores around the fire ring.
We saw some wildlife, but nothing big or scary: field mice, a garter snake, porcupines, deer and many bald eagles and osprey. The predator birds were fun to watch as they dove down to gather fish from the lake each morning. We did see a black bear cross the road in front of us on our way into Ely one morning.
This is a great place for star gazing, as there is not much light pollution. I glimpsed the Aurora Borealis one night out the bathroom window; it was amazing! So, naturally, I woke up my kids to see it and we decided to drive up the road to get a better view. It was such a fantastic experience we could only get from being so far up north.
I think other reviewers have noted the proximity to the train track, and it's worth noting, but we live in a city, so the noise wasn't an issue for us at all. It was a little loud at first, but after awhile, we didn't even hear it anymore.
This was the perfect cabin for my family. Five of us slept perfectly in the house. All bed linens are provided and very comfortable.
The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment, but I do recommend bringing your favorite seasonings for your food and also plan your meals ahead of time, as the nearest grocery store is about a half hour drive.
If we head that direction again, we will definitely try to book the same cabin.
We just returned from a week-long stay on Ash Lake, and it was awesome! Our group of ten included our own family of five (including two teens and one almost teen), my parents, my aunt, my brother, and our elderly grandpa. Everyone had fun fishing from the pontoon, hanging out at the cabin, and we even took a day trip up to Lake Kabetogama. I must say the fishing was much better on Ash Lake, and the privacy was second to none.
The cabin is absolutely beautiful, it is equipped with everything you will need. The owners were wonderful they came and greeted us as soon as we pulled in. They were very accommodating, we brought along our wave runners and one broke down and we didn't bring the right tools with us and the owners were very gracious to let us use their tools.
The cabin and the property is just absolutely amazing, we have 2 little ones and did some fishing with them right off the dock and we couldn't bait the hooks fast enough, as soon as the pole went in they got a bite, the kids loved it!
One day while we were there was a thunderstorm so our plans for the day were ruined and I was nervous what we were going to do to keep a 2 and 6 year old entertained but the cabin had some leggos coloring books, card games and movies it was great! We would definitely come back again!
Our vacation rental was very clean and tidy with all of the comforts such as coffee maker and cooking items, bedding, towels etc. The owner (Randy) was there for a few days when we arrived and was more than accommodating. We used the pontoon for one day and that was very enjoyable and easy to use. We also took many long walks on the roads nearby with our two dogs. I would highly recommend staying here.
