About Randy Teinert

My wife and I moved to Minnesota in 1992, continued growing our family to 3 hard working boys that will someday take care of this place.

Randy Teinert purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Randy Teinert chose Minnesota

While on vacation to Lake Kabatogama we fell in love with the area, found a property that had been for sale for over 10 years, bought and started building our dream vacation home.

This is a guest house next to the main cabin, built to share with our friends and guest to enjoy as much as we have.

What makes this cabin unique

Lots of room with river and lake view from every window, very private.

Property was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This trip was everything we were looking for.

Location - about 15 minutes away from a very small town, the cabin is situated on a beautiful private lake, surrounded by woods.

Cabin - it was really great. Plenty of room, kitchen supplies, towels....really just about everything. Satellite TV helped out on a couple bad weather days. Lots of room for a large family to have their own sleeping spots. Our dog loved the grounds... Plenty of room to run and play fetch.

Some comments about the shower... I didn't feel like it was as horrible as some others have reviewed. Yes, the water pressure isn't like home. Yes, the hot water "sweet spot" is tough to find (although I did). It's a small thing, and not a big deal at all.

We stopped at a local grocery store and bought food for the week. Just plan ahead and you'll be fine. Gas grill on the deck worked great and kitchen has all the pots / pans you'll need.

Lake - my daughter (11 yrs) had never been fishing. Within 2 minutes of her line being in the water she was getting bites... She was literally hooked at that point. My kids loved the fishing. We rented both the pontoon and the fishing boat and both were a lot of fun.

Lots of reviews about the train noise. Yes, property is close to train tracks and yes, you will hear at all different hours. But like some others have mentioned, after a while you don't even notice it anymore.

The owners were not there the first half of our 6 day stay, but came the last couple days. They were very nice and accommodating. Great people!

In summary, highly recommended if you are looking for a remote area with great fishing and a well equipped cabin. We will definitely be going back!

We love staying there. We think it's beautiful. The only problem staying there is the shower. Otherwise we think it's a great place to stay!

House was wonderful

  • 2 of 5

house was great but the fireplace didn't work. Couldn't use the Wi-Fi because we didn't have the code. Got Randy's email with the code when we got home from our trip, a little to late. Would be nice if it would have been taped on the fridge. The shower was horrible. You had to wait 5 -10 min for the water to warm up, you would have hot water for 5 min., had to get out of the shower for another 5- 10 min for it to warm up again. Then there was the pet hair. We don't have house pets so this really was pretty disgusting for us. There was pet hair all over. We had to put sheets on the sofa so we could sit on it. The bedding was also full of it.

Like I said the house was great, view was great but not great enough for the money it cost us.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry for your experience, we take much pride in the cleanliness of the cabin expecially regarding pets, our caretaker was out of town and we relied on backup for cleaning, we have since replaced the water heater that was causing the issue with water flow and can assure your comments are taken seriously and appreciated. Thank you Randy

Cozy Cabin in the North Country

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Randy's Ash Lake cabin over New Year's Eve. It was a warm, cozy and private cabin, complete with all amenities. The heated floors were fantastic. Randy was responsive and conscientious. It was a great experience.

Picturesque Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin during a recent trip to Voyagers National Park. It is perfectly located 20 minutes from the Ash Lake Visitor Center and 40 minutes from Crane Lake.

The cabin itself was very well maintained, stocked, and comfortable. It felt better then home!

The dock was a great place to sit and relax or catch small mouth bass if you fish. It is situated on a great lake to canoe and boat as well.

Overall, a great place to stay and we will gladly return!
