Just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a wonderful week in this beautiful house! The house is perfect! The location is great - quiet, peaceful, pretty but still very close to Woodstock for popping in for dinner at the numerous high-class restaurants. The house itself has everything you would want in a rental property - and more! It was immaculately clean, very tastefully furnished and finished to a very high specification. The owner lives very locally and is on hand to recommend restaurants, Fall routes etc but is never intrusive, just helpful. I would happily recommend this home to anyone who wants a perfect base from which to explore this most stunning part of America.

Beyond a House, It Feels like Home

  • 5 of 5

A lot of AirBnB/Homeaway/VRBO experiences feel, at best, sterile, and at times, plastic and second-hand. This place is precisely the opposite. It was very well appointed (linens, kitchen supplies, etc.) but also well decorated, inviting, cozy, and high quality. Hard to describe, but it felt a lot less Ikea/Goodwill and a lot more West Elm/Pier One. Very clean, and the owner even set up a fire for us, all we had to do is put a match to it and we had a very satisfying blaze in a few minutes. The owner was responsive but not overbearing, a hard balance to strike.

FWIW, the hot tub is a freshwater tub that can hold about 2-3 people. We didn't use but it looked really nice. We stayed in the winter and the house was nice and warm, and the property easy to access despite the snow.

Everyone in our party remarked how much nicer this place is than other places we tend to stay. We were up in the area to ski, and it was a relatively short, easy drive to both Killington and Okemo. It was very near a really quaint small town, which is a bonus as well.

Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay. Great rental property.

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well maintained, and the owner is right there if needed and is very nice.... It's quiet and secluded on a farm with a real country feel yet everything has been updated and functions perfectly. Wood barrel outdoor hot tub was "cool" (fresh water was hot) and horses are friendly. The house is close to town and we would definitely stay there again. Wood burning stove is in the entrance sitting room while the fire place in the main living room is non-working, which would be the only drawback I could think of, but was really no big deal as there was plenty of regular heat that we even had to lower. Only 20-25 minutes to Killington, which was an easy drive. Highly recommend this house.

Why Kat Gray chose West Woodstock

Woodstock Vermont is the perfect Vermont small town.

We've lived here for over 20 years and no matter where we travel it's always a pleasure to come home here. Woodstock is known for its wonderful restaurants, boutique shopping and the arts. Fall foliage season is always stunning in Vermont and of course world class skiing at Killington resort and local Suicide Six. Horseback riding at GMHA, golf, antiquing, great mountain biking and hiking trails are all part of the appeal of this wonderful region.

Voted 'the prettiest town in Vermont' Woodstock is truly a special place. Visit Marsh-Billings National Park, take a short drive to nearby Quechee to hike Quechee Gorge, Golf at famous Quechee Lakes resort or enjoy a great meal and glassblowing at Simon Pearce or one of the many great restaurants in our region.

We love it here, and you will too!

What makes this house unique

What ever brings you to Woodstock, you will enjoy coming home to Dana Road House at the end of the day. In a great location with world class single track mountain bike trails just behind the house. We have bikes for you all including 2 fat tire bikes! 20 minutes to Killington ski resort and convenient other central Vermont skiing. Snowmobile access to Vermont's VAST trail is 1/4 mile from the house. We've tried to think of everything you will possibly need to make your stay a special one. Enjoy the privacy of a country setting and convenience of being close to the village. Your spacious house, private patio and comfy beds will welcome you home. Amazing single track mountain back trails just up the road from the house!

Guestbook comments from the owner

There aren't enough good things I can say about the Dana Road House. It was perfect for our group and everyone agreed it was the a great location for our Ski trip. We totally felt at home there and made use of the fire place as well as hot tub. We enjoyed a well made breakfast in the dinning area and hanging in the sun room after skiing all day. Kat greeted us and made sure everything was to expectation and was available when we had small questions. Really great host! I highly recommend staying here!

Dana Road House is located less than two miles from the picturesque village of Woodstock, Vermont. Skiing, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, tennis, golf, horseback riding and Woodstock's quaint shops and restaurants are only minutes away. Just 20 min. drive to Killington Ski Area's Skyeship base, close to Green Mountain Horse Association (GMHA) too. We have outstanding single-track biking trail network just behind the house.

To quote the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce: 'Everything you love about Vermont describes this quaint village that has been called 'the prettiest small town in America'. First settled in 1768, Woodstock retains the elegant charm and rugged character of American antiquity. With a covered bridge in the middle of town, and stately homes surrounding the village green, it is easy to see why Woodstock has been called the 'quintessential New England village'. You will be greeted with traditional New England hospitality in our unique shops and galleries, artisan studios, country stores and fine restaurants minutes away.'

Other Activities: Snowboarding, hiking, biking, shopping, fine dining.

Ski: Just 20 minutes to Killington's Skyeship and Bear Mountain peak via US route 4. Convenient to the slopes and all that beautiful Woodstock Village has to offer - fine dining, shops and the arts. Also nearby Woodstock's own Suicide Six ski area, a great family ski mountain managed by the Woodstock Inn. Our hot tub to thaw you out after your day on the slopes and a cozy wood stove in the sun-room. For a great night's sleep, deep, soft beds for 6 guests. Perfect!
