The Neighborhood:

Bedford-Stuvesant has become the hottest part of Brooklyn. So many exciting new restaurants and cafes are opening up that it's hard to keep up with the changes. Beautiful historical neighborhood with a trendy young spirit. Safe, quiet, vibrant and super friendly. Make sure you visit our local farmer's market

Recent NY Times review of the neighborhood sums up the essence of this stunning, vibrant and constantly changing historical neighborhood.

Located in the historic district of Bedford-Stuyvesant; today a vibrant urban Caribbean/African American community (sandwiched in between the fascinating Hasidic areas of Crown Heights and Williamsburg), only 15 minutes from the Barclay Center, Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens/Zoo & Museum of Art. Nowhere else can you find such luxurious, spacious living, in the heart of New York City and only a 20 minute subway ride to Greenwich Village. the neighborhood is quiet, neighbors are warm and very friendly and you will find an abundance of fresh fruit, seafood, meat and grocery stores -- New local restaurants and coffee shops are cropping up everyday and lines wrap around the block for famous new establishments, Peaches and (vegetarian) Saraghina. Fashionable Fort Greene and Williamsburg are only minutes away on foot, by bus or subway and home to some of today's best bars and restaurants in Brooklyn

Read a Letter from a Recent Happy Guest: 'Our stay in NY and in your House were great! We really enjoyed the house and we were so happy we were not in Manhatten. We especially loved your kitchen. This was the place we sat in or in the garden. Lovely to sit there in the morning with a coffee. We also met Sylvia (neighbor) and Hannibal (her dog). We never used the sitting room because we had great weather all week.

Everything you told me about the house was right. No surprises or disappointments. It's a house with great character and we also liked the neighborhood. Nice people everywhere".

What makes this apartment unique

Please note this is an Edwardian Brownstone. There is one main entrance and one main staircase

This house has 4 floors and there is a woman who lives on the 4th floor. SHE HAS COMPLETELY SEPARATE FACILITIES AND DOES NOT SHARE ANY PART OF YOUR APARTMENT.

The only part of the house she (and her guests) share with you is the main entrance and the staircase to her apartment.

The tenant is very quiet, friendly and super helpful should you need anything. Many guests have commented on what an asset she had been to them.

You have 2 private bathrooms and a private kitchen. You would be occupying 3 FLOORS + BACKYARD AND LAUNDRY. All rooms have a key so you can lock every door.

Great Find!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for my family. Plenty of room for the six of us. Location to the subway was a key. We made several meals there. Kitchen was welll stocked. Because we had access to a washing machine we were able to pack lighter than usual. Overall great experience.

Owner's Response: We're so happy to hear our home was perfect for your family of 6. We're lucky to live so close to transportation, so you were able to explore the city by day (and all of Brooklyn) and chill at home at night. Thank you for being such wonderful guests. We look forward to having you back!

Charming architectural detail

  • 4 of 5

I am so glad we chose this Brownstone experience over the hotel we have chosen for years. It had so much character and was clean and spacious. My only compliant would be there was no Central air and we were asked to turn off the ac units when we left each day. Coming in from the heat of the city was not refreshing and there was no air in the kitchen or bathrooms. However the units kept us cool enough once we closed off each bedroom and were ready for bed and we slept well. This neighborhood was a little intimidating also as it seems to just now be at the stages of revitalization and was somewhat run down. However this is the story of New York and the Subway was only about 4 blocks away which was convenient. We also loved a corner market 2 blocks away and stopped in there each morning and evening. It had a grill and good selection of items.

Owner's Response: We're really sorry our Edwardian brownstone does not have central air and appreciate that you did not leave the a/c on when you left the house. Every room has an a/c unit and as you say,the house quickly cools down. So, we're so happy you had a good trip and enjoyed your experience in Brooklyn. Please come again!

Great location and great for a large group!

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful Brooklyn option for groups of 6 or more. Subway less than 10 minute walk. Blink Fitness 15 min walk; large grocery store (Super Foodtown) 15 min walk; Peaches and Peaches Hothouse very close. Great entertaining space.

Our extended family had a great time there and we would absolutely come back again.

Great place to stay and a gracious host.

  • 4 of 5

This property is as advertised on the website. The owner, the cleaning crew, the upstairs resident and the neighbor were all very helpful and accommodating to our group. Plenty of space for our group of 7. This property had twice the square footage of the other properties available in this neighborhood. Laundry room so we were able to pack light for our week long trip. Just a 5 or 6 block walk to the subway. We will try to stay here again next time we visit NYC.

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed your stay. I'm glad it worked out that we could arrange for you to have early access (on your arrival date) to drop off your bags, as well as being able to come back later to pick up your bags on check out day. We hope that added value to your experience. Please come again!
